Well, I disagree. Unless they come from God there’s no real power, no grace, to enable us to believe in them to begin with. If there was no actual God behind the Christian faith, I doubt it would’ve lasted a year .It just wouldn’t have been taken seriously.

Many Teachers of Religion have been known to exist from Krishna to Moses, Zoroaster, Buddha, Muhammed, and Baha’ullah, etc., but none of them left a permanent miracle for all the world to witness. Only the great Jewish Rabbi, Yehoshua ben Pantera,(His Jewish name, no offense to Catholics intended) has endowed the world with such a sign. That proves to me that He was the human incarnation of our Creator.

That’s incorrect and it may be considered insulting. Pantera was a common name of Roman soldiers. Jesus full name was Yehoshua Ben Joseph. Unless you are claiming a Roman soldier was Jesus father?

The “Middle East” is not western. Catholicism is not a western religion. It is a Jewish religion which has spread to the west, east, north and south.

Buddha performed many incredible miracles according to the testimony of witnesses. Even as a baby witnesses were amazed at the miraculous events surrounding him.

Buddha taught his disciples to seek the Truth.
Confucius said “I am not the Way”.

Our Lord and Saviour proclaimed himself Truth, Way but also Life.

I consider Buddha to, like Plato, be wise man who arrived at many good conclusions by intelligence. However they fell short of real Truth who was Jesus Christ. But they did certainly try their best, and that adds to their accomplishments.

what leg is there to stand on proving Jesus is God
There is no doubt at all the Jesus as well as the Buddha are divine beings. But I think we will only find out whether they were ‘Gods’ or not, only after the Christ returns.

I don’t think Jesus ever said he was ‘God’ although he may have said he was ‘the Truth and the Way and the Life’.

Actually, I believe that after the Christ Returns we will find out that he is actually ‘local’ to the Planet Earth and is not that well known outside the Solar System.

Pehaps I should have phased my post differently. What I meant to say was that Jews called Jesus “Yeshu ben Pantera.” I believe that they did this because they did not believe in Mary’s miraculous conception, and, instead, attributed her being in a family way due to her acquaintance with a young Jewish man by the name of Ebed. Ebed was good at archery and (times were hard) took his opportunity to join up with a Roman archery battalion. As a Roman soldier, her took the last name of “Pantera.” He also became an outcast from the Jewish community for this betrayal.

I do not doubt that, but only Jesus left us with a miracle that we can witness.

I got the book The Shroud and I don’t agree with the way they did their calculations. They use
P(A and B) = P(A)P(B).
That is not correct. The correct formula is P(A and B) =P(A)P(B/A) .

The first question to ask and have an answer to is why/how are we here?

If the answer to that is that there is a transcendent creator intelligence then one of the next questions is do they have any kind of relationship to us, personally or in history?

It is only at this stage that you can start talking about Christianity and how it compares with other claims of Divine interaction.

I am a Catholic and I think the Catholic claims have more credence, not because they are Catholic but that they have better historical evidence both 2000 years ago and continuing down through the ages including the apparitions at Fatima and down to today.

Show me for example a Jewish/Buddhist/Moslem/Hindu etc Fatima apparition with the numbers of credible people involved, the historical interplay of characters and the prophesizing regarding issues central to humanity (socialism. war, immorality etc.), and i will take those claims very seriously.
