As someone said in this thread, there is no historical evidence that a Krishna ever existed (or any other of those ancient Hindu gods and goddesses). None of them died for us or our salvation. They were all established before Christ appeared. What puzzles me is how such a large portion of the world can exist without the peace that surpasses all understanding.
Don’t get me wrong, I was an Indophile for a long time. I followed a guru, wore saris, played the guru’s songs on a sitar with a women’s music group, and meditated a lot. I acknowledged the cosmic gods and goddesses and had pictures and statuettes of them. Then I experienced a conversion back to the faith into which I was born…Catholicism. This occurred after I had received Jesus in the eucharist a few times after making a general confession. Out went the sitar, saris, cosmic gods and goddesses and the guru. My former associates on that path will now have nothing to do with me because I chose to be a disciple of Christ and left the guru. I spent almost 29 years among them.
If you are questioning Krishna, may I suggest you accompany that questioning with an in-depth look into the teachings of Jesus Christ? Drop in to a church and see how you feel. Best of luck to you in your seeking.

Do you think the Holy Spirit might have been active in India, around 2000 BC?
The Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost. 2,000 b.c. is way too early. The nations of the world at that time were worshipping demons.

I see. So, God did not have any contact with anyone in India, until St. Thomas arrived?

According to my understanding of Hinduism, Krishna is one of several incarnations of Vishnu.
This is the understanding that Vaisnavism thinks is completely wrong. Vaisnavism would like to portray that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead -but they don’t just mean a personality - they mean God really is Krishna.

In other words, God for all people, everywhere, at all times, forever, is ultimately Krishna, and the destination is Goloka Vrindavan, the topmost place in the spiritual world, above countless other waystations in the spiritual world, from which, when you arrive there at the time of death, you ā€œgo no more outā€ (a bible phrase I think). Goloka is entirely Vedic paradigm: with wish fulfilling cows, butter churning, and, of central importance, 14 year old Krishna and Radha, not married because being married would ruin the rasa, or taste for them of the relationship, who are served by millions of gopis, females, in their lovemaking. This sexual tryst service, specifically of Radharani, is the topmost goal of the Vaisnavas. Matters of morality, inner development, etc. are all understood to come through development of Bhakti - devotion, specifically to the development of a particular relationship with Krishna, the topmost type of which is the female gopi.

There is actually ā€œno one thereā€ if you are really really suffering - because Jesus Christ is missing from this.

Of course people can develop very humble and good qualities of character as Krishna devotees (I have seen this) but there is extremely little honesty in the movement. I have only experienced it twice - and in each case the people, long time devotees, have too much invested to leave. The movement encourages devotees not to associate with those outside the movement, and focus on where they’ll end up at the time of death, basically. It is the opposite of Christianity - and is actually easier to live with, because the example Jesus Christ shows us is actually very difficult to live up to. For the devotees - a greater crime than just about anything is to eat meat - and other less than great activities, such as various forms of making money outside the system, are tolerated and the fruits are understood to be karma, both good and bad. Jesus Christ and his followers are considered to be on a lower platform than Vaisnavism. To get that out of one’s system, only extreme suffering works. Those who suffer enough develop the courage to leave Vaisnavism.

As for India and the ages this has been going on there, I believe it originally developed through some very powerful determination on the part of some very intelligent/clever individuals, to find something complex and interesting.. To really be simple is extremely difficult, especially for people who want to control. . . . To not create spiritual realities, and a group dogma, is really very difficult. If I am wrong, and Krishna does exist on some objective level, I believe it is a relative level, as one of the ā€œmany mansionsā€ that exist in the spiritual.

I believe one of the early names of kali was seeton, which hints at the truth. But to be quite honest, once a person has seen his shadow in the face of an avatar(incidentally, people he chose to use were never given any choice as to weather they hosted him or not.Unlike the saints who if they visit someone in the spirit always ask permission)then once seen you can see his dirty footprint throughout much of history. The aztecs for one example.I refuse to describe him in any greater detail.Just ask yourself if this has the ring of truth that is in all things.
Where did you get your information on Kali?

Have you read the Church’s statement on other religions called Nostra Aetate? Here is the section on the Hindu and Buddhist faiths.
Religions, however, that are bound up with an advanced culture have struggled to answer the same questions by means of more refined concepts and a more developed language. Thus in Hinduism, men contemplate the divine mystery and express it through an inexhaustible abundance of myths and through searching philosophical inquiry. They seek freedom from the anguish of our human condition either through ascetical practices or profound meditation or a flight to God with love and trust.
Again, Buddhism, in its various forms, realizes the radical insufficiency of this changeable world; it teaches a way by which men, in a devout and confident spirit, may be able either to acquire the state of perfect liberation, or attain, by their own efforts or through higher help, supreme illumination. Likewise, other religions found everywhere try to counter the restlessness of the human heart, each in its own manner, by proposing ā€œways,ā€ comprising teachings, rules of life, and sacred rites.
The Catholic Church rejects nothing that is true and holy in these religions. She regards with sincere reverence those ways of conduct and of life, those precepts and teachings which, though differing in many aspects from the ones she holds and sets forth, nonetheless often reflect a ray of that Truth which enlightens all men. Indeed, she proclaims, and ever must proclaim Christ, ā€œthe way the truth, and the lifeā€ (John 14, 6), in whom men may find the fullness of religious life, in whom God has reconciled all things to Himself (4).
The Church therefore, exhorts her sons, that through dialogue and collaboration with the followers of other religions, carried out with prudence and love and in witness to the Christian faith and life, they recognize, preserve and promote the good things, spiritual and moral, as well as the socio-cultural values found among these men.

I hope you find this useful.

Well, amongst the Jews, there is a tradition that some of Abraham’s sons went East to India, so perhaps the Holy Spirit was indeed active there?šŸ™‚
Not all of Abraham’s desendants are his seed, only Isaac carried on the spirituality of Abraham.

**Because somone is not telling the truth:shrug: **

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word: and the Word was with God: and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him: and without him was made nothing that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life: and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness: and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
Joh 1:7 This man came for a witness, to give testimony of the light, that all men might believe through him.
Joh 1:8 He was not the light, but was to give testimony of the light.
Joh 1:9 That was the true light, which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world.
Joh 1:10 He was in the world: and the world was made by him: and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own: and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name.
Joh 1:13 Who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.
Joh 1:15 John beareth witness of him and crieth out, saying: This was he of whom I spoke: He that shall come after me is preferred before me: because he was before me.
Joh 1:16 And of his fulness we all have received: and grace for grace.
Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses: grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

It would have been a better question to ask why do you reject Jesus for Krishna? Or why do you worship a sub god instead of the creator? or is Brahman god? or since it is a sin for a Hindu to kill is abortion not allowed for Hindu women? or if a Hindu aborts a child does the child come back as another human being later or goes on to become one with Brahmin or does she come back as an animal or other lower life form? If the aborted child was male will he come back as female?are female children a lower life form then a male child? or what or who do you think you were before your present transformation?🤷

Mansions is used within KC as a way to help make Vaisnavism more user friendly to bible-oriented people. Am becoming a different person in terms of what I think about a lot of things. I have been steeped in the perspective which believes that there are many different locations, and that a person gets to the location that fits that person to a t. Krishna conscious philosophy, *and lifestyle *for the people attracted to it because they like the external structure, practices, etc… involves aiming to travel all the way back to God, dovetailing yourself with loving God alone. The purpose of that is to bypass all the intermediary stopovers at other universes where from one always reincarnates, no matter how many thousands of earthly years are spent there in the higher regions. The goal being to avoid coming back to earth, permanently. The earth is considered a middle plane - not high not low, and perfect for learning lessons. In the higher worlds, everyone is too happy to learn much, and thus not much impetus exists to progress spiritually, is the understanding. The understanding in KC being that it is actually best to be born on earth, in the long run.

Why would I a male person have any wish to be a female gopi maid in vrindavan goloka?

A male ā€œgopiā€ is a gopa. Gopas are likewise totally devoted to Krishna. (Among the Apostles, I would say that John’s devotion to Christ was most like that of a Gopa.)

I should have realized that.😊
