Not sure I do either. I fear in attempting to clarify, I would do the reverse. I’ll offer to try though if you like. Not sure what charity would be in this case.

I’m torn between silencing (ignoring) this conversational black hole, and persisting in what seems a vain attempt. I don’t have the power to ’ …tell it to the church…’ nor do I have the certainty that I should do so.

Pray better I s’pose.

Yeah, not to feed the Green Jabba, but He can work through more than a dude who’s seeing smurfs. As shocking a revelation as that may be none but meself. Think it is past time to defer to the ‘big guns’ in this area.

The Center of the orthodox/conservative Catholics is the Eucharist. You can’t get any closer to Jesus than that.

from the way skyryder is sounding, i’m not sure he would necessarily believe in the Real Presence. He has already denied anything attributed to Catholic authority and only accepts what he thinks is the true “christian” message of “love”, so whatever that means to him is true to him and basically as was stated he’s making it up as he goes along. Though I’m not judging the state of any particular individual’s soul, I do agree to the earlier post that most people reject the teachings of the Church and make up their own in their place in order to justify their sins. Do you know of any liberal or “progressive” catholics who live more strict lives than the Church calls us to? Fasting, Hours of Prayer, Penance? These things seem to be appalling or at the very least missing from those who claim to be part of liberal / progressive catholicism. Even worse is their attempted justification of their own and other’s sexual sins and their utter disregard for the sacrament of confession or any confessing for that matter to clear their soul from these mortal stains. Rest assured, if they die in a state of mortal sin, their personal opinions will do them no good come judgment day as they certainly cannot claim invincible ignorance. Let us continue to pray to the Holy Spirit that they will convert to the fullness of his truth and cooperate with his grace as it leads them to him. maranatha.

In other words, skyryder was probably validly baptized as a Catholic, but has since rejected Catholic teachings that are inconvenient to him. Look for him in the cafeteria.
 
The funny thing about cafeteria Catholics is that none of them have ever offered me free food…

All Catholics are Christian, but not all Christians are Catholic. See what I mean?

when i read your post, i understood that was your intention (though i’m not the same person who you just wrote to). but just to throw in my 2 cents: I think that it would be better for him to research the Christian faith in which case he would be a true Catholic and would accept the Tradition and authority of the Church. It really doesn’t make sense to be a protestant since all authority of Scripture is only known by the Catholic Church, as she was the compiler. If he openly researches the teachings of the Church, from her own mouth and not from the mouth of dissenters, and if he humbly prays and begs for light from heaven, then there can be no doubt that he will accept the teachings of the Church and her Traditions. Otherwise, he would do better to say he is not religious at all and stop confusing others and himself by claiming to be Catholic or Christian.

Humanity’s default ‘position’ is what is now called ‘liberalism’. I don’t mean to offend any Liberals, as opposed to this ‘Demon of the upper air’, his name is ‘liberal’ for he is easy, and cheap, ‘free’ even.

'It’claims to love ‘freely’ w/out labor, sans sacrifice, whose only sins is meaning.

We bow to this Baal by ‘human nature’, on autopilot. We ‘just be’ ourselves past the event horizon, into oblivion.

All we have to do is nothing. ‘The center cannot hold.’ He would like us to.
