Where in the world (okay…just this thread) has anyone written anything hateful about homosexuals? All posters have written is that homosexual acts are a sin and marching in a gay parade would also be a sin. Where is the hate in those statements?

You need to be politically correct and accept everything or you are hateful. It’s a sad time. 😦 Those that believe speaking against a deviant act are confused. As educated as they are they do not know these basics.

Well those statements are sort of hateful, but I didn’t call them up on those statements because its there religious views, which I wont go into.

You seem to have missed the post where Sweeny stereotyped gays as flourist/interior designers etc. I was offended by that post because it stereotypes gays as feminine which I and most other gays are not.

sigh Just because a person doesn’t believe in a religion does not mean they are confused. And I find it sad when someone thinks its a “sad time” when tolerance is preached, I really do.

I did see Sweeny’s post, and I agree it was in poor taste, but I don’t think it was hateful.

Regarding statements against sin being hateful. Are we also being hateful to adulterers? To point something out as a sin, is not hate for the people who are struggling with that sin. However, if someone tells me, “there is nothing wrong with adultery” and then marches in a pro-adultery parade, I’m not going to support their cause (i.e. marching in the parade would be a sin).

God bless,
Robert

Comparing adultery to homosexuality is…ugh nevermind:mad:

If you’ll go back and read my posts I simply stated that I was offended with the post, which I had every right to be.

I also find it funny people are still going on about this after Sweeny apologized to me and I accepted the apology:shrug:

It wasn’t meant to be hateful, but to point out the almost Phelpsian obsession with homosexuality that seems to exist here.

What obsession? 🤷 I believe the OP is homosexual. Correct? Are we not supposed to answer his question for fear of being labeled “obsessed Phelpsians?”

Don’t ask me any questions about homosexuality, and I won’t answer them. 😃

Because it’s one of the key issues of our times. For centuries sexual deviations from the Western civ one man one woman norm were kept very quiet. Now one of them, homosexuality, is seeking broad acceptance.

How supportive of other deviations from the above norm would you be? S&M? Bestiality? Necromancy? Pedophelia? Public orgies?

What’s the big deal? As Catholics, we believe that the only time sex is acceptable is in a heterosexual marriage. Therefore, adultery, masturbation, fornication and homosexual acts are all equal - sins against chastity.

Maybe you are just too obsessed with homosexuality. 😛 😃

So would buying the music of an admitted homosexual be a sin? I hope not because I like my Elton John CDs. He writes alot of great stuff and I am not really concerned with what his sexual preference is.

I don’t care for him as a person (he seems mean), but I also like his music. I don’t make my music or movie choices based on the performers sexual preference. Rather, I consider the content of their work. (Even then sometimes, I must admit I fall a little short.)

Similarly, I find Ellen Degeneres very funny. Her coming out of the closet and lesbian overtones on her eventually failed sit-com were unfortunate, but it doesn’t stop me from laughing at her generally very clean jokes.

You fail to see that your religion isn’t the only morality. Adultery is cheating…deceiving a lover to have sex with another person. Homosexuality is just how I was made, in my opinion the equal to heterosexuality. I’m not obsessed with homosexuality I just don’t want my homosexuality to be compared to something that has a logical morality against it.

I’m not too obsessed with homosexuality, I just don’t like being compared with these type of things. I don’t care if your religion groups them under the same sin. And I didn’t even attack you for comparing it to homosexuality did I? I didn’t even go into why I didn’t like that statement you made, you then quoted me and wrote about it.

But can we seriously just drop it? Sweeny apologized and I accepted, can’t we just get back on topic?

Why in the world are you on a Catholic Forum, asking what we think about moral issues, and then attacking our stances by saying we fail to realize our religion “isn’t the only morality?”

Do you realize how ridiculous this sounds? On a Catholic Forum, you are going to get a Catholic response. 🤷

So, yes, from a Catholic standpoint, marching in a gay pride parade is sinful. 99% of the world would probably have already figured that out, but I’m glad you came here for clarification.

Was I asking you about homosexuality in general? no I’m asking about attending a gay pride parade.

And it isn’t “attacking” you by saying that your religion isn’t the only morality. If you weren’t part of your religion you would still have basic moralities wouldn’t you? etc: don’t steal, don’t deceive lovers? well thats what I’m saying. Adultery and homosexuality are not one in the same because adultery is being unfaithful to a lover, something I would never do. While the only thing that has come of my homosexuality is a love for my boyfriend. Please don’t tell me you can’t see that they aren’t one in the same. I’m just putting out there that Religious morality isn’t the only morality, you must have some morality that isn’t covered by your religion don’t you?

When I came here I was sure it would be against the Catholic morality, I just wanted clarification why and what it fell into. And its amazing you can start this large argument over one small message of me saying “Ugh, comparing homosexuality to adultery ” even when I try not to “attack” you as you say by not going into why I hold grudge towards the comment you STILL bring this all up, even when I say “lets get back on topic” you still continue.

Sorry for “attacking” you:rolleyes:

Shadow, I don’t think you’re making any sense. People keep answering your objections, and you keep not hearing them.

How am I “not hearing them”? I’m just trying to get him back on topic from comparing homosexuality to Adultery.

I don’t doubt it is (in fact I speculated it would be) but for the sake of acquiring knowledge; would you mind elaborating on your response?
I think marching in a parade…would show advocacy of the particular theme being presented.

Thats true.

What if the parade just wanted equality and to try to fight discrimination against gay people? (with no sexual themes present) then would it be a sin?
