well then i guess this is not the place for me. bye
What were you expecting of this place then?

That people would agree with you and affirm your opinions no matter whether what you said was in line with Catholic thought and teaching or not?

In short to do anything other than provide a ‘Catholic answer’, as the name of the forums proclaims, or not?

What did you want when you joined?

God bless, wherever you go from here.

if this is the case, i wonder why it is a sin to have gay sex?
if you love the other person, what is the difference from having sex with your wife just for pleasure rather than having sex with your husband (if you are male) for pleasure?
This post makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Regardless of what the world tells you, 2 men cannot have a valid marriage, especially not so in the eyes of the world. In fact, the legal definition of a marriage in many (most) countries defines marriage as between a man and a woman.

2 people of the same gender having sex is not and can never be the result of “love”. What you call “love” is simply indulging in a disordered passion. All marriage outside of sex is wrong and is lustful. If 2 men and 2 women cannot be married, then they simply cannot have sex and call it love.

Besides that, this thread is several years old. Please don’t post on it anymore.

For anyone struggling with this sin, I’d like to give some advice because I went through this too. When I found out that masterbating was a mortal sin, (thank God, cuz he probably was guiding me to know that it was wrong), I went to confession. It was kind of embarassing, but I had to do it. It’s the best way. For me, it took about four times to confess the sin, and then I was able to resist it every time I was tempted. Basically, trust in God’s mercy and grace in the Sacrament of Reconcilliation, and he will strenghten you against this sin, and any sin you confess. It may take three confessions, or even way more than that, but by going to confession you WILL overcome it, as long as your confession is true. Also, don’t be afraid to let God to make good out of this evil. For me, he did that by getting me to realize that I had to go to confession often. Also, just for some more advice, when I still had this evil habit, I loved the sin and I loved the gratification I got from it. To get rid of the habit, I had to get rid of my love for it and hate it because it is wrong in the eyes of God, and I should love God more. That’s all the advice I can give to anyone who goes here to try to get rid of their masterbation habit.

I know masterbation is a sin because I have seen it in the bible before. The best thing to do is check the Catechism and if you do not have one usually your Diocese has an internet version on its websites.

In general this should be easy to remember – Anytime the seed is extracted without the intent of being open to the “possibility of new life” or outside the context of marriage, the act is a sin.
Really? I’ve never seen that in the Bible. That was my biggest question: is this simply Catholic teaching, or is it actually in the Bible? Do you know what passage/Book of the Bible it’s in?

Mastubation is a grave act. Like any other grave act, it is only a mortal sin when the one committing it knows it is of grave matter and freely chooses to do it anyway. This cannot be the case with someone who is asleep, half asleep, drunk or high.

See Genesis 38:9-10

The sin of Onan. In earlier times, masturbation has even been called “onanism.”

My response to this is that Masturbation is not a mortal sin. I used to have a lot of issues with this when I was young. At first many priests told me that it is a mortal sin. But then as I got older other priests told me that it is not. One priest told me that objectively the RCC might see it as a mortal sin, but due to subjective matters/circumstances, it is usually not a mortal sin for most men. Venial, but not mortal. The last part of the definition from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which I have put into bold print, explains why even a Catholic priest can say that in most circumstances it is not a mortal sin.

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. “Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action.” “The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose.” For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of “the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved.” **To form an equitable judgment about the subjects’ moral responsibility and to guide pastoral action, one must take into account the affective immaturity, force of acquired habit, conditions of anxiety or other psychological or social factors that lessen, if not even reduce to a minimum, moral culpability." **

I may be asking a duplicate question here, is it a mortal sin if I masturbate to reach orgasm while I’m engaging in sex with my husband?
