Is Purgatory in the bible

2 Maccabees l2: 38-46 Judas told his men to pray for the dead, for he believed they would arise to glory. This safely assumes that they were in Purgatory. They had sinned and needed to be purged, otherwise why pray.

Judas asked that they pray for ALL of the dead that he was speaking about, didn’t he?
 
2 Macc 40-42 But under the tunic of each of the dead they found amulets sacred to the idols of Jamnia, which the law forbids the Jews to wear. So it was clear to all that this was the way that these men had been slain.Turning to the supplication, they prayed that the sinful deed might be blotted out.
