Is sex before marriage truly immoral in EVERY SINGLE circumstance?

In my younger age, i had an Heretic approach and decided that if you love the person that you are with, what is wrong with this.

Today, i know without a doubt (and this was accomplished with prayer) that sexuality is blessed by God in marriage and to reproduce.

God is God and we cannot put an interpretation about him to suite what is convenient to us. Trust in the bible, read it and ask the Holy Spirit to help you.

Pray to have wisdom, for the Holy Spirit to guide you and attempt mass regularly. Jesus is there in body because of the Eucharist.

Padre Pio said:

“Keep close to the Catholic Church at all times, for the Church alone can give you true peace, since she alone possesses Jesus, the true Prince of Peace, in the Blessed Sacrament.”

So what i am saying to you, is that doing this will protect you from illusion and keep you safe always from evil trap.

It is ok to ask question but don’t forget to ask God directly.

Blessings!

Look at it this way. You could get a hold of a package of unblessed communion wafers and eat them, arguing that they are no different from the blessed wafers, but the fact remains that without the sacrament for which they were intended, there’s nothing there but physical matter and human sentiment. Sex outside the sacrament of marriage is the same. We believe that God is literally present in His sacraments and that they literally change what is merely physical into the spiritual made tangible.
Love this, thank you for sharing this!

Especially because, you know, I REALLY love Jesus, and I’m already at Mass, and I’m DEFINITELY going to Communion anyway, so what does it matter if I wait until after the consecration?

Sorry, but you’re wrong. Fornication is ALWAYS wrong. This is stated in the Bible and has been taught by the Church for over 2, 000 years and the Word of the Lord stands forever. Simple as that. I would encourage you to trust in the Lord Jesus, His Word and the Church He founded.👍
I understand that it is ‘wrong’ for Catholics because of their beliefs, I was showing that it is not ‘immoral in every single circumstance’ as per the question originally posted. it depends on your morality and the circumstances.

Moral relativism is nonsensical. Believing something is moral or immoral doesn’t make it so.

It depends if you view the catholic position on sex before marriage as ‘immoral’ - I don’t see it as a question of morality - just replying to the original poster.

Now we are getting into theology, the translation of sin is “missing the mark”. Sin will not send you to hell- the absence of Jesus will do that- but sin has consequences. Pain, regret, all kinds of avoidable things. Do I hear an Amen from everybody?

Do yourself a favor and don’t try to re-invent the wheel…try to stay pure…if you haven’t then confess and stop. How would you like to be faced with a pregnancy…out of marriage…?

love you!

Dying in a state of mortal sin means that soul cannot participate in the Beatific Vision. Jargon calls this “being sent to Hell”. Unrepented sin at the time of death leads to hell unless there are circumstances that mitigate culpability.

Hi Soren-Moving into the great unknowables, Doctrine, versus simply the Bible…where does Doctrine spring from? Christ, The Holy Spirit? Paul, Traditions of the Church, the Law of the Old Testament? I am not sure how we can be completely clean and forgiven of all sin at the time of death unless we are able to make a comprehensive list of all of the sins we constantly commit…guttony, judging others, using borrowed money, women not covering their heads in Church, looking at other women (lust of the eye) on and on and on…I have found that the Spirit will convict me of what He wants taken care of and unless I ignore Hm and become seared then we seem to be able to maintain relationship and joy.

Regarding Hell, Jesus referred to unquenchable eternal fire…not just an absence of participation in the good stuff-but very real bad stuff. Ouch.

Hey, Ned!

As far as I understand, I should confess all the sins I know I’ve made since my last confession. And then confess before I die so that I have no unconfessed mortal sin on my soul. Mortal sin. Mortal. Not head-covering and stuff. That’s not mortal. That’s not nothing. 🙂 Head covering? Really? That is a matter which is morally praiseworthy but not morally obligatory (to quote Spock from Star Trek).

Failing to do morally praiseworthy things is not sinful.

Failing to do morally obligatory things is sinful.

I don’t have a dog in this fight about head coverings, for example. My wife does cover her head.

Hellfire? I’d say any soul eternally divided from the Holy Spirit would feel like it’s being eaten alive by fire. Considering Christ’s descriptions of hell, it is full of actual evils as well as the absence of good.

By the way, call me Jason. 🙂

Sorry but the idea of subjective morality is very skewed and wrong. Morality is based on objective truths that are unchanging.

Not true and I can give you and example
Not to turn this into a debate about moral relativsm or anything… but each action is either moral or immoral, of course different circumstances can make a difference as to whether a particular action is moral or not, but, I’m sorry, its impossible for an action to be both moral and immoral at the same time. Regardless of any individuals belief about it, the reality is that it is either moral or its not. 🤷

An action can be moral and immoral, if two people have opposing moral views.

I was really talking about how morality changes over time.

Nope, all that means is that the two people have different opinions as to whether or not the particular action in question is moral. Reality is what it is no matter what any two people think about it. And, again, morality doesn’t change over time, people’s opinions of what is and isn’t moral changes over time, but the reality of what is and isn’t moral just doesn’t change, sorry. Reality doesn’t change just because someone changes their opinion about it. For instance, someone has a box with a slinky in it. At one point in time he thought it had a toy truck in it, then later on he thought it had a small soccor ball in it. His opinion about reality changed, but reality that there was a slinky in the box, didn’t change. Same way any particular action is, in reality, either moral or immoral, it doesn’t matter how many different opinions people have about which actions are moral or how many times their opinions change, reality doesn’t change just because someones opinion changes. 🤷

So Catholics can believe that murder is truly wrong, but if someone else has a different belief, murder is okay for them?

I believe, April, that the statement is in regard to ABSOLUTE morality as opposed to what can be termed ‘relative’ morality.

In certain places and at certain times, for example, male or female genital nudity is not morally absolutely wrong, because of say cultural factors.

However, sex before marriage IS absolutely morally wrong, in any situation, because sex itself is to be done ONLY in a marital situation.

Again, in a situation regarding an ABSOLUTE TRUTH (from which morality is based), you may have two ‘opposing’ views, but one is correct and one. . .is not.

You may not, in a situation of absolute truth/morality, have a situation whereby what is ‘moral’ for one is not ‘moral’ for another.
