Yes, in theory that’s how it’s supposed to work…but if I can’t trust the politicians on such a no brainer, how am I to believe that they know what’s best for me?Well, Kristie, about the issue of abortion - that is a different battle. I am totally against abortion, but the point of political officials is not to define what is moral, but to protect your rights (one of which is the ability to define for yourself what is moral if you so choose).
Here’s another example…a certain governor gave a thumbs up to transgender students being able to use the facilities of their chosen gender. What about the rights of MY daughters to not be subject to a biological male sharing their bathroom? (or vice-versa) In it’s haste to make sure that the LBGT community is protected, they are violating the rights of the rest of us.
We’re seeing a lot of tunnel vision when it comes to these issues, and it’s important for the politicians to hear both sides of an issue, without assuming that those who disagree with them are just a bunch of hate mongers.
