Is the coronavirus China's revenge on Trump?

I don’t think that the coronavirus is anyone’s revenge on anyone. It’s just an outbreak of disease and it affected China much worse than other parts of the world. That said, if it were found out that the virus was intentionally released from a lab or something then I might be inclined to change my views but as such, it just seems like any other disease outbreak.

Could you elaborate? I don’t really understand what your point is. The coronavirus isn’t only targeting specific voters.

It also just isn’t very deadly. A real bioweapon would be much worse.
I agree. A deliberately unleashed bio-weapon would be designed to kill millions, and quickly. The Flu kills far more people each year than this virus has.

We don’t want to risk seeing how many the coronavirus could kill:

Everyone can research and see, the coronavirus could really kill millions.

Whole places are not being quarantined over nothing.

16 million quarantined in Italy: The area is being blocked off.

These quarantines may not be absolute but they are rather severe.

Why would they release a virus that messed up their own economy?

Well, I doubt that they would which is one reason why I doubt that the coronavirus is some sort of attempt at revenge. I have heard, however, that the virus may have been accidentally let loose from a lab.

Whether or not this theory holds any weight, I don’t know. At least one source claims that there is a lack of evidence for the validity of this theory:

Now, more than any time I have shared on CAF over the many years, Mods and users need to be vigilant and not allow false or misleading information regarding the health crisis.

One thing I do know and this is a Church forum afterall, were your services the same?

They certainly changed ours, this is probably under the “Catholic Living” forum and when I said, changed ours, I don’t mean anything key to the mass such as the Liturgy… but after the last post, I don’t know what to say. We did not shake hands at the sign of peace and a few other things, no Holy Water.

One nit I have is the broad focus on ‘testing’ rather than solid prevention.

Yes, we need more testing capacity but testing isn’t a cure, it just helps us track the spread. People should take the same precautions whether they have the flu or Corona, be hygienic, practice social distancing, and take steps not to infect those around you if you are sick. Get rest, see a doctor, and recover fully before heading back to work.

We didn’t have ‘tests’ for the 1918 flu but we showed that different preventative actions changed the course of the pandemic.

The truth is Regular_Atheist, is we just don’t know.

The low virulence is not a disqualifier.

Why not Cathoholic?

There would be unknowns in sequencing RNA/DNA (coronavirus is a DNA virus).
The RNA/DNA doesn’t just have sequences, but folds in the structure and associated proteins that contribute to the epigenetic milieu.

Also the virus COULD have gotten out of a bio-weapons lab in one stage of many spliced mutations with a multitude of more benign and more virulent strains still left in a lab.

In other words, there MAY have been a multitude of other genetically engineered “generations” too, that did not “escape”.

So Cathoholic. Are you saying this virus is the product of bioweaponry gone awry?

No. Not necessarily. What I am saying is, there is a lot we do not know at this point.

Quoting newspapers that get
denials from the Chinese Government is irrelevant
as far as I am concerned.

Either way (bio-engineered, or a random mutation within nature), the answer to those questions will elicit a denial from the Chinese Government.

There ARE ways to answer such questions, and I am sure biochemists, microbiologists, spies, etc. are working on answering these questions but it is difficult, dangerous, and time-consuming work.

And when Governments have those answers they may not be willing to share them with their own citizens for a variety of reasons.

For me (right now at least on the coronavirus issue)?

We need to know more before a lot can be said.

It’s interesting reading this article from 2018 about research on the diseases that bats carry from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China…the place where the Coronavirus originated…coincidence??

The Corona virus precedes Trump so it’s not a revenge, just not this particular strain.

But…it could be a plague, a series in a slew yet to come. The climate hasn’t disturbed anyone up to this point even after admonishment to protect it, mostly because the greatest recipients of destruction aren’t in our own backyards, coral reefs and the such. Animals on the brink of extinction…yep, those ones…See no evil, hear no evil…it doesn’t affect me.

1Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.

Luke 6:24-26 24"But woe to you who are rich , for you have already received your comfort. 25Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. 26Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.

Thank you for the thread. Musing.

I was walking into the store today and an elderly man
was coming out pushing his basket loaded with 6-8
bundles of toilet paper and there were like 12 rolls in each bundle. That is all he had was toilet paper!

Sounds like he is old enough to remember Seats & Roebuck Catalogs

I don’t understand why toilet paper. There was none in the supermarket, but literally an entire wall of shelves filled with tissues in boxes.

Are we seeing a “toilet paper virus”…one person gets it and it spreads like wildfire. :roll_of_toilet_paper:

😜😜😜😜😜
Those catalogs and the fact that a lot of poeople no longer get the newspaper, sooooo no back up plan in case the toilet paper runs out!😁

Everybody experiences at least one moment seated and in need. With no toilet paper in sight.
Apparently the dread just stays with you.
What is strange for people who have done Hurricane prep for example, is that items like water are the first gone from shelves. Gas for the car, number two. Here, we have a gas glut with prices dropping and groupthink that somehow TP factories might be incapacitated.
