Yes there is. Allah is simply an Arabic word for “God.” So I conclude that there is a God.

After reading my first quote you can guess that the Son of God is God’s Son. Allah, is an Arabic word for God.
Allah is “Yahweh” in Arabic.

I would thank you to use a capital P when spelling Pope please.
The word pope is only capitalized when referring to a specific pope, such as Pope Benedict XVI. Only references to God are capitalized all the time.

Muslims do not beleive in the Trinity so there can not BE both an Allah and a Son of God. Allah is a false god. Might as well talk about Zeus being ANGRY

Look at what Jimmy Akin says here,
“The pope was making a speech to a German university on the subject of faith and its relationship to reason, and he took a detour in the speech to touch on one of his pet subjects–that religion must not be used as a basis for violence. So in the process of taking a detour to say something meant to help break the link between religion and violence, he happened to quote a particularly inflammatory line from 600 years ago that could and has stirred up the potential for religious violence.
And the line isn’t even necessary to his speech! He could have made all the same points without the inflammatory line–and even without bringing Islam into the discussion.
This didn’t have to have happened, and it is hard not to see it as the first (or second) major gaffe of Benedict’s pontificate (the other one being what happened when he visited Auschwitz).
How serious a gaffe is it?
It could get him killed.”

The pope made a gaffe? :bigyikes: Uhm no, he didn’t. We have many priests and people on here defending Benedict. I think Akin is quite wrong this time.

I don’t think using the light word “gaffe” is warranted here. A “gaffe” would be something silly that a Hollywood celebrity said in their acceptance speech at the Oscars. The Pope knew the risk he was taking by using this obscure historical quote and felt it was necessary to include in his speech. I trust that he was led by prayers and the Holy Spirit before he spoke in Germany.

Guys, the catholic church is the home of many martyrs. Many Christians before lived with their one foot on the grave. I think Pope Benedict knew since then that it will be a great joy for him to be killed because of his great love to GOD. Martyrdom is one of the charism of the christians… But still we have to pray for the peace of the world and to our Pope.

God will never abandon His people… Just Pray and have Faith…

God Bless the Christians…

Yes, You are so right, and I am sorry to hear that Jimmy A has taken this approach to this----

but it does make me wonder- he has said other things in the past that have made me do a double take- yet I differ to ones of his stature and accept it-

Could he be saying this out of fear of safety for Holy Father?

IE: soften it up so Holy Father is not a target?

This is what I want to believe of him, because- if he is not- then isn’t he against Holy Father? and possibly - dare I even think it?

Not a fan? I don’t want to think that - he is a good guy---- maybe I need to get a break from all this since it is happening so fast and the danger seems so eminent-

How many Swiss men will sign on for extra duty?

I will pray! May God bless our Holy Father and The Vatican City Sate, and all Christians everywhere that may be targets now----
May God be merciful to those who wish harm to /for Holy Father and the Chruch and Jesus!!!
May they get the truth and be saved…
And understand their “peacefull” religion w/o a subjective radical Callif to tell them how to think-
May the truth be known by their actions and ours!

I agree. There is no gaffe here. And anyone of good will and a non warlike nature reading the Pope’s remarks would have found them completely benign. Which again just points out both in radical Islam and in those former Christians who support radical Islam lack any sense of good intent.

Some Islamic official had called for the death of the Pope.
Oh no! The Pope is in danger. I do not no what to do. We have to pray for the Pope. Pray!
yes we do need to pray! But what can a prophet expect when he stands declaring the Word of the lord? May we be as faithful here in this politically correct, truth defying land as our Holy Father is.

These people who view killing as the way, I’m not even sure they are actually Muslim, are they? No Muslim I know would call for the death of the Pope. I know that there are Muslims who respect the Pope.
I don’t doubt your last two statements. But of course this cleric is Muslim. Why would you doubt it, just because the Muslims you know are gentler? No religion is monolithic.

However, in contemporary Islam there is a disturbingly large number of influential clerics who seem to think that the proper response to any perceived insult or injury is lethal violence. Denying this gets us nowhere. The Pope made a serious effort to engage the matter intellectually, and look where it got us. I think the Islamic reaction proves that he was on to something.

How could ALLAH be unhappy? There in NO ALLAH!

In your first paragraph you say Allah will be unhappy. Now you mention The Son of God. If there is a Son of God there can be no Allah.
Total bunk. Allah is the Arabic word for God and has been used by Christians and Jews since before Muhammad was born. We’ve been over this again and again, and your position has been shown up again and again, but it doesn’t matter. You cling to it blindly in the face of all reason.

I believe, Edwin, estesbob is correct. In Islam, God is not able to have a son. Period. therefore if there is a Son of God, there can be no Allah. And if there is an Allah, there can be no son of God. Do you see? the Koran distinctly disallows a God of a nature that allows the generation of a Son of God. We cannot have it both ways. Either there is Allah or there is Christ the Son of Allah. If the Koran says no Son of Allah, then there is no Allah if you profess the Son. Get it? Estesbob is correct.

Does anyone know how to copy that banner without direct cut and paste? I don’t want to steal bandwidth but I’d like to put that in my signature line. I think we all should!
Right click, then Save Picture As.

You would have to save the picture at a picture server though, you can’t save it here.

I think that when the Pope says something, he’s an extremely intelligent man, he knows EXACTLY what he’s doing. I’d give him more credit than calling it a gaffe. I think his statement was done for a specific reason we may not realize yet.

Does anyone have any numbers on how many human beings have died as a direct result of terrorists in the name of Allah?
