The USA to unilaterally invade and eliminate the ancient and historic country of Syria? It sounds like if you were President, we would be in a catastrphic and disastrous world war, where there really would be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
I’ll make a deal with you Bob, I won’t worry about what you would do as president if you won’t worry about what I would do. You and I have a lot more important things to worry about. The biggest problem with these forums is that the use of hyperbole is undetectable, our personality isn’t obvious from our keystrokes, and we all think the other guy takes himself way too seriously.
How about answering my questions?
I think you bring some very important issues to light better than some other anti-war posters on this forum. Or maybe you just articulate those issues in a different way.
I think it is far too late in the Iraq war to put your ideas to use. IMO the Iraq war is over and we’ve won. For the past 3 years we have been basically involved in stabilization efforts and those efforts are too far down the road to back out now. Again, IMO, those efforts are almost finished. What we are embarking on now is standing guard, while the Iraqis build the kind of country they want, and until the Iraqis can stand guard themselves. Once again, IMO, an effort that may take about 10 - 20 years. Not really much time considering only a hundred years ago most nations, upon winning, claimed their spoils and walked away, leaving the defeated to wallow in destruction.
Global trade has made the non-intervention policies of our forefathers open to debate in a global society. It has also made the world’s resources available to more people than ever before. It has also made the truth available to more people than ever before, hence the spread of democracy, liberty, and ultimately Christianity. Don’t you think that OBL and his evil minions know this? Why do you think he wants to transform the world into a 7th century Caliphate?
I’ve rambled long enough. By the way, as you can see, you and I are light years apart on our interpretations of past and current events. Don’t worry about answering my questions, I’m just glad you read my post.
