The Hebrew word gebirah is found 15 times in the Old Testament and can be translated as “Queen Mother,” or “Great Lady”
Can be, but is not translated. Most is translated as Mistress.

but having a look at the Greek Condorance that both words that are used…

H1404 גְּבֶרֶת gebereth gheb-eh’-reth
Feminine of H1376; mistress: - lady, mistress.
Total KJV occurrences: 9

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

H1377 גְּבִירָה gebı̂yrâh gheb-ee-raw’
Feminine of H1376; a mistress: - queen.
Total KJV occurrences: 6

Any case the primary definition for both is "Mistress"

Your theology is distinctly European and post-16th century. I do not blame you. Those who taught you with best intentions are simply perpetuating man-made error. The Church which Christ founded exists to assist in correcting error through the ages - and she has for those who are seeking and will listen.

Now, God conceived of and brought to flesh, a “woman” who would in turn give flesh to His only begotten Son for the salvation of the world - including those sinners known as Apostles and disciples. Consider the DNA that she would pass on. Consider that scripture calls her - scripture calls her - the “mother of my Lord…” Consider that it was the Holy Spirit Who prompted Elizabeth to call Mary “the mother of my Lord.” The Holy Spirit.

Ponder that.

How much clearer can you get? She bore Christ, nursed Him at her breast, raised Him and was with Him His entire earthly life - longer than anyone on earth. From virgin womb to virgin tomb. She is written of in Revelation 12, when John suddenly stops speaking of the Ark of the Covenant and then abruptly speaks of this “woman” who was to bear a male child who would rule the nations with a rod of iron. See Psalm 2 for reference to that.

The reformers held Mary in highest esteem. Today she has been reduced to profanity in bible Christianity. To which I pose the honest question: what in hell has seeped into bible Christianity? They dishonor Mary as much as God honored her. I will not answer to Christ for profaning His mother!

Mary is a created, mortal human. I could understand if she was “God the Mother” (which doesn’t exist and is blasphemous btw), but she is simply the physical mother of Jesus Christ; Mary was an instrument to birth Jesus via the conventional means established by him (or his Father). To somehow pivot that and hype her as “The Mother of God” as though she has now somehow ascended beyond her created, human status is preposterous.

Now, there is always a chance that I will be wrong–and I hope it doesn’t cost me eternity for it–but being an instrument shouldn’t equate to being the highest in Heaven, Earth and all creation. If Mary exists, then why should we? Anything less than the best is fluff at best.

Somebody higher in this thread mentioned that not everyone is created equal… Paradise likely was equal, or at the very least, more equal, until the Queen Mother appeared.

Honestly, I don’t know why God was play the circumstances like that if He knew it would stir so much contempt. I have absolutely no problem serving God and accepting my inferiority as a created, sinful being; God is God and he deserves all praise and glory, however, I do start having problems when mortal, created beings. get cheat-coded into impossible positions and automatically esteemed into glory that we can never have. It’s even worse because Mary is a human, thus, making it personal. I could understand Michael, Gabriel, or the others being 2nd place, but reserving it for a human is bound to cause frustration.

Assuredly, Mary will cause the destruction of some.

Matthew 18:14
“4 Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 20:16

Yet the Catholic doctrines say that Mary is the “Queen of Heaven”. Some may argue that Mary did, indeed, live a humble life, but so did the disciples, and unlike them, Mary didn’t have to get murdered (martyred). I know they say Mary was the result of an immaculate conception (she supposedly had no sin), however, I think the fact that us originals(sinners) actually had to wrestle with the clutches of original sin should only help our case in Heaven, not worsen it. Yes, Mary supposedly did love God more than all of us could, but she also had the inherit capacity to do so as well. It’s not fair to race Usain Bolt against a Fat Man and then “reward” Usain for winning; It was never a competition.

I honestly can’t see how someone like Paul the Apostle, Enoch, Elijah, and Michael the Archangel are below her.

I look forward to your answers… Please don’t kill me.
Mary is the Queen of Heaven because her Son is the King.

In Jewish custom, the Mother of the King is the Queen of power, not wife of the King. This was also customary in European monarchies too during the middle ages.

In the Old Testament, the Queen was always the King’s mother.

God Bless.

“Mistress”
Mistress doesn’t always mean illegitimate lover (which is a more modern usage of the word).

Look at the very first definition. Mary is the female head of Jesus’s household

You have a lot in here, so I’m going to take them one at a time.

Mary was granted the title Mother of God because of the Divinity of Jesus, not because of any of her attributes.

It’s simple logic.

Is Mary Jesus’ mother? Yes she is.
Is Jesus God? Yes he is.
Is Jesus Divine in His human nature? Yes he is.
Therefore, Mary is the Mother of God. If you claim Mary is not the Mother of God, then that means you deny Jesus is God.

If you claim Jesus is God (which He is), then Mary must be the Mother of God because to say Mary is not the Mother of God means that Jesus, in His humanity, is not God - which is heresy.

The First Marian Dogma (Mother of God) is all about the Divinity of Jesus in His human nature.

God bless

Mary was never tempted to sin either. That is strictly held by Sacred Tradition.

This cased frustration and problems for 1/3 of the angels too. Your argument here is the exact same argument that Lucifer and the other angels who were kicked out of Heaven made.

They felt it was horrendous that God would make Himself incarnate of the Virgin Mary. The devil hates Mary more than any other human ever born, therefore, perhaps that’s just one reason she needed to be immaculate.

Another way to think about it… when the Jews carried around the Ark of the Covenant, people would die if they simply looked inside to view “The Word of God in stone,” unless they were without sin.

Mary was the new Ark of “The Word of God in flesh.” So if the story about the Ark of Covenant was true, than it makes sense that Mary would have to be without sin order to physically have “The Word of God” inside her body and to be a physical temple for God to live inside of for 9 months.

You are ignoring the bible! Ignoring the bible!

Think of that!

A bible Christian ignoring the bible!!!

Inconceivable!

Read Luke 1 and 2.

We honor Mary because God honored her first.

You are badly mislead.

She is the one who crushes Satan’s head, because she’s the new Eve.

I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.
Genesis 3:15

AD DIEM ILLUM LAETISSIMUM

ENCYCLICAL OF POPE PIUS X
ON THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION
TO THE PATRIARCHS, PRIMATES, ARCHBISHOPS,
BISHOPS, AND OTHER ORDINARIES
IN PEACE AND COMMUNION WITH THE APOSTOLIC SEE

But neither will the Virgin ever cease to succor us in our trials, however grave they be, and to carry on the fight fought by her since her conception, so that every day we may repeat: “To-day the head of the serpent of old was crushed by her” (Office Immac. Con., 11. Vespers, Magnif.).

It was “revealed to St. Bridget” by an angel, “that the Blessed Virgin,
even before She became His Mother, knowing how much the Incarnate
Word was to suffer for the salvation of men, and compassionating this
innocent Saviour, Who was to be so cruelly put to death for crimes
not His own, even then began Her great martyrdom.”

“The martyrs endured their torments in their bodies; Mary suffered
Hers in Her soul.” …St. Alphonsus de Liguori.

“Now, as the soul is more noble than the body, so much greater were Mary’s sufferings
than those of all the martyrs, as Jesus Christ Himself said to St.
Catherine of Siena: ‘Between the sufferings of the soul and those of the
body there is no comparison.’”
“The Blessed Virgin Mary, for the love She bore us, was willing to
see Her Son sacrificed to Divine Justice by the barbarity of men. This
great torment, then, which Mary endured for us — a torment that
was more than a thousand deaths — deserves both our compassion
and our gratitude. If we can make no other return for so much love,
at least let us give a few moments this day to consider the greatness of
the sufferings by which Mary became the Queen of martyrs; for the
sufferings of Her great martyrdom exceeded those of all the martyrs;
being, in the first place, the longest in point of duration; and in the
second place, the greatest in point of intensity.” …St. Alphonsus de
Liguori.

How can Mary still be the Mother of God if we’re “like the angels” in Heaven though? I thought those roles passed away.

Now this really doesn’t add up… Does “grace” save her from those standards too?

Another question: Sometimes people die at birth… Wouldn’t that make them sinless? What if they were murdered or aborted? Could that person, then, surpass Mary in Heaven?

I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.
Genesis 3:15
Most versions do not use the feminine.

Jewish Publication Society : Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; they shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise their heel.’

YLT : Gen 3:15 and enmity I put between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he doth bruise thee—the head, and thou dost bruise him—the heel.’

KJV+ : Gen 3:15 And I will putH7896 enmityH342 betweenH996 thee and the woman,H802 and betweenH996 thy seedH2233 and her seed;H2233 itH1931 shall bruiseH7779 thy head,H7218 and thouH859 shalt bruiseH7779 his heel.H6119

Now if you take out the extra words? Word for Word translation. As you can see their is a lot of liberty taken.

KJV : 15 Put enmity between woman between seed seed it bruise head thou bruise heel.

Matthew 18:1-4
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them
3 and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

I wonder why we are discussing this question?

Philippians 2:9 tells us that the highest place in heaven belongs to Jesus

How can Mary still be the Mother of God
Be mindful that Mary being “Queen of Heaven” is an extrapolation of implicit bible verses.
There are no explicit bible verses that state she is “Queen of Heaven” and there is no biblical Imagery of Mary sitting next to Jesus in Heaven. There is only one depiction of a mother of the King sitting next to the King and that is in the Old Testament.

Do I believe Mary is the Queen of Heaven? A RESOUNDING YES.

That just means we are spirits in Heaven …no wings

The only way your contention makes sense is to deny the hypostatic union and say Jesus is not God.

Is Jesus God? Is Mary his mother? Then she can rightly be called Theotokos - God bearer - Mater Dei - Mother of God.

Mary is not the Mother of the Father, or of the Holy Spirit, or of the Word of God.

But she is the Mother of the Son of Man, who is also the Son of God, therefore she is rightly and righteously called Mother of God.

Unless Jesus is not God, you have no leg to stand on. Arius realized this, and he wanted to only call her Chrisotokos.

Philippians 2:9 tells us that the highest place in heaven belongs to Jesus
Talk about taking a verse out of context. That is not what that verse is implying.

Php 2:9 For which cause, God also hath exalted him and hath given him a name which is above all names:

Even Jesus said it himself that the Father is greater than himself.

Joh 14:28 You have heard that I said to you: I go away, and I come unto you. If you loved me you would indeed be glad, because I go to the Father: for the Father is greater than I.
