just curious.
well…just look at how many protestant denoms there are…33000 and counting…each with their own brand or idea of Christianity…and their own private interpretation of the Bible.just curious.
Depends on what you mean by sola scriptura.just curious.
The first thing you must understand is that Martin Luther never taught that Scripture should be taken alone or privately interpreted. To this day conservative Lutheran Dioceses teach the Bible should be read with the clear understanding that the purpose of the Church and the Priest is to is to help and or interpret difficult verses of Scripture for lay people. No one is allowed to interpret the Bible for themselves and anyone who does and refuses to conform to Church teaching will be excommunicated because of it.just curious.
Which version of the scriptures do you plan to use? There are a number of versions floating around - each of which have significantly different teaching about who Jesus really was. What basis will you have to pick one or the other?just curious.
Which scripture?just curious.
It’s kinda like building a stool and only putting one of the three legs on it…just curious.
Two people with energy, charisma, and conviction, and a different opinion will frequently divide a church. The intention is not necessarily evil, but I do suspect that there is some harvest taken by the evil one by those hurt.well…just look at how many protestant denoms there are…33000 and counting…each with their own brand or idea of Christianity…and their own private interpretation of the Bible.
Yes! But, remember that in Neheniah 8:5-8, as well as Acts 8:26-35, we see that scripture must be interpreted by those in authority - and not self-imposed authority. Peter wrote that those who privately interpret scripture will come to a bad end (2 Peter 1:20, 2 Peter 3:15-16). He specifically names Paul’s scriptures. Hello, Romans’ roaders! It’s a tough call, scripture backs Sola. Yet Sola is not in the bible. What I mean is, Christ and Moses both said the bible being infallibility.
Indeed and thus the problem. Does the bible say what I read or what someone else tells me what it means.Yes! Problem? No! More like problems.just curious.
There is only one, and can be only one authoritative Church, as Jesus spoke. The bible, or any written record, is not an authority, but only speaks of authority. Those who claim that the bible is an authority are, in truth, telling you that they (their opinion) are the authority. Jesus founded an authoritative Church to teach, to write and to interpret. By the power of the Holy Spirit, you have been placed in contact with her. Yet, you are to test what you hear, even here - especially here.Indeed and thus the problem. The problem is a Reformed person, an Arminian person, a Lutheran and a Catholic all sit down and read Ephesians 2. However they all read it differently because they have been taught a doctrine which builds in presuppositions which color their understanding of the Word. So the Bible doesn’t change, but a Calvinist and an Arminian and a Catholic and a Lutheran etc will read the same words differently because of those presuppositions built upon the doctrines they have been taught.Indeed and thus the problem. Does the bible say what I read or what someone else tells me what it means.
Maybe so and maybe not. Moses and Christ said the bible is final authorityThere is only one, and can be only one authoritative Church, as Jesus spoke.
