Is this a schismatic order?

The Most Holy Family group and the Traditional Carmel down in the Springs are definitely not in union with Rome. And the argument that the Bishop is hostile to the TLM is patently false; he set up a FSSP Parish down there to counter-act the schismatics.

cosfssp.org/contacts.php

Not withstanding actual documents to the contrary, they are schismatics. I pray for their re-union.
I don’t know where you get your information but it is wrong. The website you linked proves nothing. Have you ever been to their Mass or do all of you just look at websites and gossip.

What difference does this group make to you, nothing you say will change my mind. Unless you are trying to stir things up so you can run to the mods again. As far as the bishop goes, why don’t you call him yourself. That way you can get to more important things and not take part in gossip.

I’m still curious as to why the Bishop refuses to give your parish kids confirmation?

Dear Hunter

The reason he refuses is because they are a schismatic group.

They link to a sedevacantist group called the SSPV.

Now I am not one of those people who thinks that everything in the Church is fine and great.

However I as regards the sedevacantist thesis I think we can be absolutely certain that it is contrary to the faith because we believe in the indefectability of the Church.

How is it possible to believe that a Pope whom everyone in the Church is in communion with to reign and die as a an “antipope” with nobody finding out until some theologian loses his faith in the indefectability of the church half way through the next Pope’s reign. It is just not possible.

Hunter if you are not a sedevacantist then you should stay away from them, if you are then stop being one, and may God have mercy on your soul.

At the very least I recommend you put on a brown scapular and beg Our Blessed Mother to keep you free from sin and to obtain for you the virtue of Hope as well as a full understanding of what Our Lord’s promise that the gates of hell shall not prevail.

God Bless and Save you.

Br. Paul

I’m not talking about the Daughters of Mary, the group I’m talking about doesn’t have any links to the SSPV

This is a reprint of something I found a few years back. It’s pretty funny.

Sick sense of humor if you ask me. Latin is one of the sacred languages of the cross. I see the sentiment of automatically calling schismatic those who celebrate the EF exclusively hasn’t changed much on blogs and message boards.

If we cpnsider all the Masses celebrated between 400 and 1970, safely can say that 95+% of them was celebrated in Latin.

The statement that Latin is one of many languages used in the Church is false.

Pope John XXIII’s Veterum Sapientia gives respect to Greek as well as certain eastern languages. He doesn’t appear to be calling them vulgar or vernacular.

Validness isn’t everything. There are such things as degrees of solemnity, precision, and sacredness that are important in one’s spiritual life. And if it’s preference you’re after, I do think Slovak sounds better in the liturgy than English. But that’s my preference.

Both the EF and OF have been promulgated in Latin. If you prefer it to be dumbed-down, then stick to the OF in some idol vernacular. Or attend an DL in a language you prefer. But we digress.

Ok guys you are going way off topic here. The official language of the Church if Latin period! The OF is in Latin and then translated to what ever other language is in use. Get back to the topic.

Exactly. Someone got off track and started with the SSPX again. They are not the SSPV, which is the topic of this thread.

The purpose of the website I posted was to show that there is in fact a TLM Parish in the Springs, under the care of the Bishop. It makes it hard to say then that the Bishop opposes the TLM.

Furthermore the only public position of the Bishop has been that this group is not in communion with Rome. Until any documents are shown to you that include canonical erection or sanction for either group, I would caution you that these groups are leading you astray. If you love the TLM why not go to Immaculate Conception under the FSSP, we all know they are Catholic.

Dear Hunter,

The Daughters of Mary have links with the SSPV. That makes them sedevacantist.

The sisters of Carmel mentioned are associated with a another set of Priests that the Bishop has publicly stated are not in communion with the Church. So maybe they are not sedevacantist but the Bishop is the authority on this and not me or you.

These are tough times. Get a Brown Scapular, make a consecration according to the plan of St Louis Marie de Montfort and Our Lady will guide you through them.

God Bless

Unless the Carmelites in Colorado Springs have changed, their position on the pope is the same as the SSPX. And you are correct, Brother, they are not in communion with the Church, although I think at one time they had a much closer relationship with a former bishop than they now have with the present bishop.

My post was for the benefit of Hunter who I believe is going down there, obviously of no avail to somebody in London. 🙂

From the daughters of Mary website:

A4. Our congregation requires that a candidate:

5) Belong to the traditional Catholic Faith and not be associated with the Novus Ordo Church, schismatic groups, or groups with doubtful sacraments.

Well, the habits with wimples sorta gave that away.
