PARIS (AP) – The Islamic State group has trained at least 400 fighters to target Europe in deadly waves of attacks, deploying interlocking terror cells like the ones that struck Brussels and Paris with orders to choose the time, place and method for maximum carnage, The Associated Press has learned.

The network of agile and semiautonomous cells shows the reach of the extremist group in Europe even as it loses ground in Syria and Iraq. The officials, including European and Iraqi intelligence officials and a French lawmaker who follows the jihadi networks, described camps in Syria, Iraq and possibly the former Soviet bloc where attackers are trained to attack the West. Before being killed in a police raid, the ringleader of the Nov. 13 Paris attacks claimed to have entered Europe in a multinational group of 90 fighters, who scattered “more or less everywhere.”

But the biggest break yet in the Paris attacks investigation - the arrest on Friday of fugitive Salah Abdeslam- did not thwart the multipronged attack just four days later on the Belgian capital’s airport and metro that left 31 people dead and an estimated 270 wounded. Three suicide bombers also died.

I’m afraid that these 7th century throwbacks will be able pull off something pretty big in Europe, because there is no reaction from the leadership in Europe and America. There is no resolve, no plan, and no strategy.

Our own president was yucking it up and doing the wave at a baseball game in Cuba just hours after Brussels attack, so I’m afraid there is no attack that will shake this man into action. He’s just to cool to let a little terrorist attack ruin his spring break. So Europe stands like a deer in the headlights waiting for somebody to lead, yet there is nobody to step up, and the attacks will continue. Nothing a terrorist likes more than weakness, and boy, we are really showing some weakness these days!

And I must ask - where is our Church?

By her policy of free and open borders, Merkel has failed to provide the security and peace that Europe needs.

I believe the governments in Europe are trying very hard not to demonize just being a Muslim, and its coming across as inaction. The middle ages concept of 'kill ‘em all…let God sort them out’ just won’t work in our world. IS will be a long, slow fight, but hopefully we in the west will be able to hold our heads up high after ISIS inevitable defeat.

I may be mistaken, but it wasn’t that long ago ISIS was claiming 4000 fighters ready to go!

400 fighters times 10 support persons per fighter (finance, housing, feeding, transport) comes to 4,000 fighters.

Let’s see if I’ve got the record straight.

When we complained about how reckless politicians were for rushing in and taking out Iraq they heard us.

They saw our anger at their actions in Libya.

We demanded we get our troops out of harm’s way in Afghanistan so that happened too.

They hesitated about involvement in Syria following the mixed results of Libya and Iraq. And they knew one more screw up there would have us yelling.

We screamed when nothing was being done for the refugees drowning as they crossed into Italy so stuff started getting done in a hurry. And anyone who argued was branded a heartless monster.

And now we’re mad because they don’t know how to push back against an invisible enemy that snuck in while the doors were opened wide to help innocent people.

So do I blame our politicians?

Not really.

Sorry.

Peace.

**Unjustified “Obama hunting” while forgetting that it was former President Bush’s rash actions that created a power vacuum in Iraq which in turn enabled the formation of ISIS.
We should remain aware of the purpose of ISIS attacks in Europe which is to goad the West into confronting ISIS with ground forces.
ISIS does not name its newspaper “DABIQ” for nothing. In Islamic prophecy a battle between a western Christian army and an Islamic State army occurring at Dabiq marks the beginning of the End Times.

A battle that fulfills this prophecy might compel Islamic nations to come to the aid of ISIS. Think about Pakistan with its inventory of nuclear weapons.
That is why our leaders find it necessary to use restraint and find a middle eastern Islamic force to fight against ISIS.

Some of our current presidential candidates seem blissfully unaware of these circumstances and speak of “turning the desert into glass.” Do you support this idea?**

I think that ISIS came about as a result of the misguided disastrous policies of Bush to invade the area and to side with the Shiites.

Very good, and very sobering points.

Politically correct - right to the very end…
Well it’s not just political correctness. Turning away thousands of innocents whose lives have been destroyed is no better a solution long term either. I mean even Pope Francis is calling for people not to turn their backs on refugees even now…

Finger pointing in every direction. I’m sure the Intelligence agencies in all of Europe are putting in 8 hour days and going home. Sadly, the people who will also complain will be those businesses losing money. Fewer flights, fewer tourists, and fewer dollars. Never mind the refugees who are not, of course, being watched.

Give me a break. We will not know until years later to what degree US Intelligence was involved or the British. But again, it will not be the public but people behind closed doors who will make the decisions.

Facial recognition, drones, listening in on everything. It will be bloody but not the way the enemy thinks.

Well, when I see the Moslem countries taking in their fair share, I will say that Europe and America should to.

But until I see Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Oman, Yemen, Kuwait, Iran and all the others opening up their doors to help their own, I am skeptical as to what this refugee crisis actually is, a crisis or an invasion…

Well Turkey is taking in plenty, well over 2.5 million. Lebanon has taken in well over 1 million. Jordan has taken in at least a million. Egypt has taken in over 100,000. Yemen is in the middle of it’s own civil war so they’re not taking in anyone and are more likely to produce refugees than take them in. Iran is a Shia country with historic enmity toward Syria so they’re not going to take in Sunni refugees. Kuwait has taken in over 100,000 so far.

Saudi is of course a strange case in that they are also Salafi like Daesh just without the end of the world obsession. But even then they claim they’ve taken in 400,000.

Oman you have a legitimate beef with.

I stand corrected.

I hadn’t looked at the numbers for awhile, but it appears the refugees are now indeed all over the place.

Thank you…🙂

If we would have fought the Nazi’s this way we would have lost WW2 miserably. It’s not like every German, or even every Nazi part member, was a Jew-killer. Plenty of them just wanted to live life and get along. I guess that means we shouldn’t have identified Nazism as the problem or ever gone to war with Germany as a country.

Pretty much. Even just smart-bombing them would’ve done very little.

War’s meant to be messy. And horrible. And totally devastating for the host country.

Because they’re supposed to be the first ones to stop the fighting.

For real fear that we’ll be coming for them.

But since we never do in a big away anymore.

🤷

First off though, even though we went to war with Germany, we didn’t necessarily turn a blind eye to those who were attempting to escape Nazism in the lead up to the war. And the second issue, we went to war with Germany. Who do we go to war with here? Syria isn’t our enemy in this per se. I mean Daesh is the big enemy here, and they’re by and large a terrorist group.

And how do you propose to make people who are willing to blow themselves, their loved ones, and your loved ones up themselves fearful? I mean you talk about utterly destroying where they live and devastating the host country… have you seen what has happened to Syria? And yes it’s weakened their organization in Syria, but it hasn’t snuffed them out and it’s actually emboldened their more remote cells. We’re not dealing with something as rational as a nation state like Nazi Germany (as hateful and irrational as they were), we’re dealing with people who are members of a massive doomsday cult who want the world to end.

Don’t play the Nazi card. There is zero freedom of communications now, drones and satellites exist and facial recognition is a reality. Each country has a duty to protect its citizens. Hitler was named Man of the Year by Time magazine in 1938.

During World War II, every soldier wore a uniform. Now, we have an enemy that looks like anybody else.
