Whatever your stance is on yoga, it cant be denied that there is in fact spirituality involved…otherwise we wouldnt even have such a thread like this in existence to begin with.
It’s involved only if you let it and I have demonstrated it repeatedly that it’s easier to not even think about it than you make it out be.
How many threads pop up asking if playing football is spiritually dangerous?
Funny how you mention this but a user named Robert Sock railed against football as spiritually dangerous.

I also notice how much he likes this particular area of CAF. 😉

Actually the yogis said its all the same.

Anyway thats besides the point. Im not arguing that anymore. I trust Cardinal Ratzinger / Pope Benedict / Father Whomever about their opinions on anything spiritual (which includes yoga) as they have dedicated their lives to God and have done far more extensive research and have tons more experience than a person on the internet who I know nothing about.

To imply or set the tone that Cardinal Ratzinger didnt know anything of what he talked about, especially when on the topic of spirituality, and that a certain poster knew better than Cardinal, because he wasnt Pope at that time or speaking infallibly is slightly offensive, pretty absurd, and highly laughable.

This thread exists because some people are hyper-cautious to the point of near scrupulosity. To those people I say, do not do it. Yoga, as practiced in the West, is stretching and holding - nothing wrong there.
Not all yoga practiced in the West is only stretching/holding, which is known as Hatha Yoga, but I’d say the majority of yoga in the West actually involves spiritual purposes. That being said, Hatha Yoga is still one of the 8 limbs of the yoga philosophy.

This is not some appeal to authority, these are the facts of what yoga is, and was designed for.

There were many threads on here asking if it was OK to watch, say, beach volleyball at the Olympics, due to the usually skimpy attire worn by the competitors. And there were some arguing passionately that it was a moral danger to do so. So don’t assume the such things are never debated.

Why? Are you saying being Cardinal makes you near omniscient? Again, appeal to authority remains to be your persistent fallacy.

In the same way the pentagram was designed to symbolize the pagan belief of harmony among the elements.

Meanwhile I just use it to distinguish my characters and their individual brands of boom spells. q:

I’ve come to the conclusion that some people will never change their opinions against Yoga, despite not having any experience with it, nor factual knowledge.

Those of us who do Yoga exercise might as well stop trying to explain, for it’s getting nowhere.

Myself, I’m done responding, it isn’t worth the time and energy.

Uh thats a real concern id say. Playing the game in your backyard is diferent and probably not a danger. Watching people play in hardly any clothing MAY incite lust in people, especially those who have a problem with it. And lust is one of the seven deadly sins, not to be taken lightly.

12 year olds playing twister at a bday party is probably not immoral. Playing nude twister with others probably is though.

Actually thats not what a pentagram is, youre showing your ignorance.

A pentagram is an inverted five pointed star, unlike the normal star in a circle used in paganism that represents a woman or whatever yadda yadda yadda.

I have a feeling youre just a misguided about yoga as you are with satanic symbolism.

Which is exactly the point - no one would ever say physical exercise (ie beach volleyball) is inherently wrong or demonic in all circumstances. Simply that it causes problems for some IF inappripriate attire is worn.

Many people can and do yoga in exactly the same way and with no more spiritual content as do beach volleyball - wholly and solely as a means of exercising the body. Doing this has no more anti-Christian significance than the fact that the Pope bears the same title - Supreme Pontiff - as the pagan high priest of ancient Rome used to do.

Any problems with doing yoga stretches are not inherent in the stretches themselves, like
those of beach volleyball are not inherent in the physical performance of the exercise per se.

By the way - those kids playing twister are certain in the course of doing so to adopt numerous of the poses of yoga. Which according to you are inherently acts of worship to Hindu deities. Yet you say it is harmless. Logic fail.

Thats where we disagree. I believe that yoga is inherently spiritual in all situations, just as goig to Mass is inherently spiritual in all situations.

Many people have been conditioned to believe that Yoga can be just exercise because of the promotion it gets through physical therapists, hospitals etc. and simply because its widely accepted in America as just exercise too.

I guess much in the same way that most people accept the Ouija board as just a dimb game that can be bought at any Toys R Us. No danger there, right?

If you repeat something enough times eventually people begin to believe it.

I think St Paul has it right:

I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; still, it is unclean for someone who thinks it unclean.
Excellent quote. It sums up my philosophy in a nutshell.

Of course, thats the perfect quote to use for any justifier or moral relatvist.

I believe Gluttony is not unclean, therefore it isnt, only for people who think it is.

You’re assuming that all “yoga” is spiritual. Quite frankly, most people in the west are CLUELESS about the spiritual element of yoga.

I use “yoga” exercises, chi gung exercises, etc. I could care less if a hindu or buddhist wants to use these exercises to pray to some “god” or find enlightenment. I’m interested in straightening out my back and keeping in shape. Does the Church prohibit that?

Wikipedia disagrees with you. 😛

And misguided? Sorry, this thread has already demonstrated that you’re self-projecting at this point.

Ends dont justify the means.

Its wrong. Some 13 year old vampire goth probably wrote that up.

A pentagram is an inverted five pointed star, representing the Goat of Mendes or whatever. Its satanic otherwise satanists wouldnt use it. Duh 🤷

And 2 of th 8 limbs are Yama and Nimyama:

Yamas are
  1. Ahimsa – Compassion for all living things
  2. Satya – Commitment to Truthfulness
    3 Asteya - Non-stealing
  3. Brahmacharya - Sense control
  4. Aparigraha - Neutralizing the desire to acquire and hoard wealth
Niyama are
  1. Sauca - Purity
  2. Santosa - Contentment
  3. Tapas – Disciplined use of our energy
  4. Svadhyaya – Self study
  5. Isvarapranidhana - “to lay all your actions at the feet of God.”
Are you just as adamently against these aspects of yoga?

Ah, but going to Mass is a different thing to merely acting out the outward ritual of the Mass - say in a scene in a play or a movie. No-one would say watching or acting in a movie or theatrical scene in which a Mass is acted out is in any way a spiritual thing.

Going to Mass presupposes that it is intended by the participants as an act of worship - people generally don’t go to Mass for any non-spiritual reason. It’s not like the tanding and kneeling gives them a great workout or anything! Acting out the Mass in a play or movie looks exactly the same but has that intent lacking and therefore is non-spiritual.

I dont know anything about the Lutheran church so who knows 🤷

What is your opinion on seances and ouija boards?
