At first glance, Islamic belief appears to be almost compatible with Christianity and/or Judaism. Often people claim that the Muslims believe in the same God as the Christians: “They just don’t accept Jesus Christ”. However, as we shall see, the Muslim God is not like the Christian God. Islam rejects the biblical doctrines of the Trinity and the diety of Christ.
For the Muslim, Allah is the only true God. There is no such blasphemous thing as the “Trinity”. The Muslim God is unapproachable by sinful man, and the Muslim’s desire is to submit to the point where he can hold back the judging arm of Allah and inherit eternal life in an earthly paradise of gluttony and sexual gratification. Muslims have no concept of God as a loving and compassionate father.
to the Muslim, Jesus Christ is merely one of the prophets of Allah. According to Islam, the prophet Muhammed supersedes Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ is not the Son of God or a part of any Trinity. We are told that He was nothing but a slave on whom God showed favor (Sura 43:59) Yet elsewhere we are told the Messiah is not a slave (Sura 4:172). Jesus Christ did not atone for anyone’s sins, although He himself was sinless (Sura 3:46).
They say Jesus Christ did not die on the cross. Various Muslim traditions say that He either miraculously substituted Judas Iscariot for himself on the cross, or that God miraculously delivered Him from the hands of The Romans and Jews before He could be crucified. Most Muslims believe that Jesus Christ was taken bodily into Heaven without having died.
In the Quran, Jesus did miracles, Muhammed did not. Jesus was sinless, but Muhammed sinned and needed forgiveness.
Jesus was called “the Messiah” and was even born of a virgin, yet Muhammed is supposed to be the greatest of the prophets!!
Aside from two, just two passages in the Quran, there is not a single passage in the Quran that indicates that God loves any portion of mankind, nor is there a single verse that indicates that people can know God on a personal level.

Pax vobiscum!

I am getting sick of people saying that Muslims don’t worship the same God as Christians. Muslims worship the God of Abraham. Christians worship the God of Abraham. Now, obviously the Muslims have an incorrect understanding of who and what that God is and THAT is the difference. You might as well say that the Jews worship a different God than Christians because the Jews do not believe in the Trinity either.

No I am not saying that Islam is equal to Christianity, before anyone accuses me of that.

In Christ,

Thats nice, the Jewish God isnt your God either.

Seeing as Judaism came first, I must wonder where the Christian God came from?

Longinus, oh yee of little faith,
The Jewish God and our God are the same as told in the Old and New Testaments. Our God is a loving, compasionate God.
Tell the Muslim the good news that salvation and peace with God does not depend on his own insufficient efforts, but on the Grace of God displayed through the atonement of Jesus Christ on the cross. No one can work his way to Heaven (or Muslim paradise). The Muslim will agree that Allah could choose to bar all men from paradise since no man is perfect as Allah is perfect.
However, Biblical salvation does not depend on man’s imperfections. Biblical salvation dependson the work and love of God. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Esphesians 2:8-10)

Jesus started His church, the Catholic church. That is the Christian faith.

Again, your God isnt the Jewish God. Yahwey is alot less mericful in the OT. He smites ppl left and rightand tortures Job to win a bet.
Allah is not the Christian God, but anyone who shows compassion for other humans or animals can be saved even regardless of religion (as long as its abrahamic).

And again,
-Jews dont believe in the Trinity, neither do Muslims
-Jews dont even acknowledge Jesus, Islam at least sees him as of the more important prophets
  • Satan isnt apperent in the OT yet he is (Ibliss) in the Qur’an
So if anything, Christianity is closer to Islam than it is with Judaism

Rabbi ben Shlomo (400BCE) was in the process of trademarking our God when he was killed in a tragic wine pressing accident. Had he been successful, it would be a very different world today.

Really? How different in your opinion. You mean no Messiah?

No. Not really. Besides there wasn’t a messiah ;). Sometimes I really have doubts that you’re jewish.
But there was a Messiah who lives today and lived 2,000 years ago Valke. I once met a Jewish woman who converted to the Catholic faith. she was upset that her mother never told her let alone showed her The New Testament. When she discovered it, read it, she converted immediately. Have you ever heard of Edith Stein? She is now St. Edith Stein. She was a brilliant philosopher who researched Catholisism, converted, became a Catholic nun, and died at Auschwitz. she was the bravest woman I ever read about, and she loved Jesus Christ very much.
she is now a Saint. Her movie is wonderful, you would enjoy it. Her book is rather hard to understand because of her intellectualism.

I am not Jewish, I am Roman Catholic till the end. How anyone can read the Gospel of Matthew and not believe, I can’t imagine.

I once met two christians, one of which was a former minister, who after reading the NEw Testament for 30 years or so, decided to convert to Judaism. I’ve read the Gospels. Incredibly, I was able to go to shul and daven as usual.

Hehe

You know I used to be a devout Catholic when I read the Bible as it seemed to true.
But then, I read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and everything that was missing from the Catholic teachings seemed to be cleared up almost at that instant.

Now I live the life of a Hobbit and I couldnt be happier 🙂

“What then? That which Israel sought, he hath not obtained: but the election hath obtained it; and the rest have been blinded. As it is written: God hath given them the spirit of insensibility; eyes that they should not see; and ears that they should not hear, until this present day. And David saith: *Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompense unto them. Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see: and bow down their back always. *I say then, have they so stumbled, that they should fall? God forbid. But by their offence, salvation is come to the Gentiles, that they may be emulous of them.”
(Romans 11:7-11)

Good because The Lord of The rings is actually about The Eccharist…

If you want to believe the Muslim Allah is the same god as the God of the Christians you will have to figure out how Allah is so violent and bloodthirsty compared to the God of Jesus.

Come on - of course the Muslim Allah is not the same god as the God of Jesus Christ - the former was made up by Muhammad the desert bandit.

If you want to take some false prophet why don’t you find out about the Taiping religoin of Hung Hsiu-ch’üan? This delusional, psychotic person dreamt that he was the Son of God, and younger brother of Jesus Christ - and the Trinity comprised of God, Jesus and himself.

Now, do we take his claim that the Taiping God is the same god as the Christian God, even though Hung Hsiu-ch’üan said so? This Hung was just a latter-day Chinese version of Muhammad. If one looks at the Taiping religion one can see just the same echoes as Islam.

Oh… and 30 million people got killed because of Hung Hsiu-ch’üan’s direct action. Sound familiar?

I think you’ve got a big problem squaring that with Vatican Council II and the Catechism!

The Catechism says we worship the same God (# 841).

Do you think people are more sympathetic to Jews than Muslims? Why is it okay to talk about Muslims like that?

I realize this is the teachings of a church that has forgotten what it is like to be persecuted by Islam. Read the Quran and ask yourself what kind of god inspired that work, and then ask if the God of Jesus Christ is that god.

Would your God, the God of Jesus Christ, order that you convert to Islam or subject yourself to persecution?

Is that your God? Who persecutes you?

From what I recall, the God of the OT is much nastier.

Care to draw all jews with horns as well?
