I do not know what genocide means in Jesus’ heart.I know He would have died for me only anyway.as unworthy and unmerited as it may be.
Ceasefire.
Let us pray they find a mediator now !
I would like to see the terrorists stop killing the people in nigeria as well. Also stop the killing in syria and iraq. Do those deaths bother you or only the deaths of the palestinians by the israelis.
The deaths in nigeria are well over 2000 committed by boko haram.
Israel is also suffering casualties. There were 22 egyptian soldiers killed over the weekend and 3 killed at the airport.
Yes a ceasefire is desired but I guess israel wants to destroy as many weapons and tunnels as they can.

Please do me a favour , I get the info from Aica which is a Spanish Catholic reliable source. There I get news from this parrish in Gaza. Do you have A similar source so I do not have to translate the messages.for you ?
Are you referring to Agencia Informativa Católica Argentina?
aica.org/

Since Fr. Hernández is Argentine, surely that is a good source. I am not aware of a news agency which has direct contact with Catholics inside of Gaza. Perhaps our closest source might be Catholic News Agency, which is part of ACI Prensa.
catholicnewsagency.com/

If you wish to post a link to an Aica news story, perhaps we can run it through an online translator? Machine translations are crude, and details are sometimes muddled. However, Google Translate seems to get the central idea across.

For example:

El Papa envía mensaje de cercanía al párroco argentino en Gaza
aica.org/13043-el-papa-envia-mensaje-de-cercania-al-parroco-argentino-en.html

Google’s translation is:

Pope sends message of closeness to the Argentine priest in Gaza

Yes , that is the agency. Thank you.
Your idea od a translator is very good. Thank you again, Coatimundi.

Here is Fr. Hernandez’ response to the message from Pope Francis, as posted (in Spanish) on the Institute for the Incarnate Word - Middle East website:

Lo traduje al árabe y lo di a conocer a los parroquianos, quienes no tardaron en manifestar su gratitud y cariño para con el Santo Padre (aun los ortodoxos) al saber su cercanía. Laus Deo!

In Domino

P. Jorge Hernández, IVE

Here is how Google Translate rendered it in English

I translated it into Arabic and I announced to the parishioners, who were quick to express their gratitude and affection for the Holy Father (even Orthodox) to know its proximity. Laus Deo!

In Domino

I am grateful you are here, sharing your knowledge and insights. You make this discussion better than it would be.

The online translator is a welcome resource. Some machine translators are better in certain languages. If anyone knows of a Spanish-English translator that is more accurate than Google, please let us know!

Dear 7 Sorrows , I limit my posts to the topic the tjread is about.
If I have been offensive , partial ,demeaning, unfair or biased in your eyes , I would rather not post again . Infflicting pain or fueling division is by no means my intention. Not even close.
You can go through my posts.
Peace.

I am happy Pope Francis is praying for the Father and all those who are with him.

We can disagree on the forum as long as we are charitable. I do not want you to stop posting. I was pointing out that I do not see this as genocide. Sadly there are casualties of war and sadly many are children. It horrifies me that children have to go through this trauma n

Get you. And we can always agree to disagree.
It horrifies me too that children have to go through this.
We can’ t solve the conflict in Gaza , nor any conflict beyond our little world around us , I guess.
This is our limit.
We can pray hard for peace.
God bless you.

It’s not hostility it’s bewilderment and secondly internationally only chili stood up to Israel .

I understand why a majority of Christians support Israel because of some misguided intrerpritation on scripture.
Whatever it is, it is not everybody.

This thread hasn’t been updated in three days, and the death toll in Gaza is now over 100. Tragically, many (though not all) are innocent civilians. Israel is trying to minimize the deaths of civilians, but the very nature of urban conflict makes this difficult. The task is all the more difficult when the fighters in Gaza use civilian facilities to disguise their activities. Israel is feeling pressure to explain its airstrikes in the face of such difficulties.

As Israel Hits Mosque and Clinic, Air Campaign’s Risks Come Home

As Israel’s air war against Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters in Gaza entered its sixth day on Saturday, a pair of bombings threw the difficulties of the campaign into painful relief: Israel bombed a mosque, which its aerial photos indicated was harboring a weapons cache, and a center for the handicapped, killing two handicapped patients and wounding three, as well as a caretaker.

In a rare Saturday briefing for reporters at Israeli military headquarters in Tel Aviv, a senior Israeli military official said, when asked, that the army was looking into what happened at the center for the disabled. “A group is investigating now what was the target, what was the intelligence,” he said, speaking on the condition of anonymity in line with military protocol.

The briefing was an apparent effort to rebuff growing international alarm at the rising death toll from the airstrikes in Gaza — 120 so far, according to Palestinian officials — and the calls for restraint.

The official spoke of the difficulties the air force faced in minimizing collateral damage in the densely populated environment of Gaza, describing the mission as “very challenging,” and showed video clips from the air that he said demonstrated the military’s care in targeting.

No update in days??? Didn’t notice dates but should be updated every 6 hours. This won’t be getting better for some time. Hamas’ clearly declared this movement to be Jihad. What can stop them now? I recall our president saying that al-queada was dead once bin laden was killed.

Haljoseph, thank you for joining us in the discussion of this terrible crisis. I see you are responding to a post which I made nine days ago. We have been discussing this topic for some time now. The date and time is marked on each post. You can find the date and time in the upper left corner of each comment (for example, above my picture.)

Hamas is not al-Qaeda. Neither organization has a lock on Islamist terrorism. You will find an infinite number of such groups exist. The only way to stop them from springing to life is to eliminate the reasons people support such organizations. Part of this solution would require addressing the resentments which individuals feel. Another part of the solution is to help individuals develop a quality of life which they do not wish to lose.

If I remember correctly, the word “condemn,” in UN diplomatic language, is close to the harshest of criticisms.

U.N., Qatar condemn Gaza killings, call for immediate ceasefire

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned as an “atrocious action” the killing of dozens of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by Israeli shelling on Sunday and called for an immediate end to almost two weeks of fighting.

Ban, in Doha on the first leg of a Middle East tour to try to end the bloodshed that has cost more than 400 lives, met Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Qatari Foreign Minister Khaled al-Attiya before heading for Egypt.

“While I was on route to Doha, dozens more civilians have been killed in the Israeli military strikes . . . in Gaza … I condemn the atrocious action,” he said in a statement after talks with Attiya.

“Israel must exercise maximum restraint. I repeat my demands to all sides that they must respect international humanitarian law. The violence must stop now,” he added.
reuters.com/article/2014/07/20/us-palestinians-israel-qatar-idUSKBN0FP0A320140720

The news article mentions that the US has asked Qatar to mediate a ceasefire. However, US officials admit that Israel is unlikely to find Qatar acceptable, given its close ties with Hamas.
Since when does anyone take the UN seriously? I think it is laughable the UN “condemns” anything when their “peacekeepers” have committed numerous war crimes.

The Bishop of Rome sent a short message to the Catholic community before the Israeli army began its ground offensive: “I accompany you with my prayers and my closeness. May Jesus bless you and the Blessed Virgin protect you”

Israel is preforming genocide and the world is shrugging its shoulders. I can’t stand it!
I don’t think you know what the word genocide means.

Who wouldn’t take General Ban Ki-moon serious and Qatar? They stand at the forefront of Freedom of speech and religion. 👍

I’m with Israel, in fact I think they should occupy the area from now on. Be good for relations. If they didn’t have the Iron Dome there would be no more Israel. 2000+ rockets and a massive tunnel system, unreal. Who in the world wants to live like that?

It wouldn’t be too difficult to arrive at the choose to live choice. About a New York minute.

I give Israel much credit I see the conviction. They are converting here already and giving up their freedom uncontested. 🤷

Oh and the USA promised 47 million to Gaza. Good looking out hey? 👍

We are givers in the USA. 🙂 I think we paid for the entire Arab Spring and charged it to China. 😃
