To me, it’s a no-brainer. God is the infinite Creator. He hasn’t stopped just with us and this planet. I definitely believe there are intelligent lifeforms elsewhere in the universe. They may even be living among us right now, and we don’t know it, because they know how to blend in and not be conspicuous. It takes intelligence to do that.

I’ve not seen a UFO myself I don’t believe, though there was a time as a young kid when a bright light went over head that I and a friend wondered what the heck was that. Ironically it was on the same day Elvis passed away. Years later when tabloid reports came out that Elvis had been picked up by a UFO I though could be, and I saw the space ship. 😋

Are there theological issues with this? I have seen Catholics online who reject the idea of intelligent life in the universe because they think it contradicts the sort of “humancentric” narrative of Christianity, as well as producing some questions about whether or not those aliens can go to Heaven and all of the problems arising form that.

Probably clumsily worded, but hopefully you get the idea.

The government leaves just enough clues and issues just enough denials to keep people guessing and on their toes.

The XFiles says so.

I reject the idea of aliens because of a book I came across, I can’t remember the name, but it was a scientific exploration of why life arose on earth, and it came to the conclusion that conditions were only right on our planet of every place in the universe we know of.

I believe it was Rare Earth. Another one that looks good is The View from the Center of the Universe.

Are you sure they weren’t protestant or lapsed Catholics. I have never met a true Catholic who didn’t believe in extraterrestrials. Now whether they have arrived on Earth is a different story. The more I hear how far the closest exoplanet is and the more I see how slow the progress is to achieve interstellar travel down to weeks and not years or decades, the more I feel no one is visiting us from one of those planets.

Having said that though, I wouldn’t rule out beings being from Earth and leaving this planet a long time ago and now returning to see us. As for interdimensional beings thats the new “where did the big band come from scenario”. Here today, gone tomorrow.

The key is, every place in the universe we know of. There are scads and scads of places we don’t know of. There are many millions of suns with their own planets elsewhere in the Milky Way and in other galaxies that we aren’t aware of. Certainly, some of those suns are an appropriate distance away from some of those planets to enable the necessary conditions for life to form. And, if God decides to create intelligent life on those planets, who is to say He couldn’t or wouldn’t?

Our theology is for us – for our human race and human history. Who knows what the theology is for other intelligent beings on other planets? Perhaps the first of those beings didn’t sin, and aren’t affected by original sin as we are. Perhaps they didn’t need salvation, or if they did, who knows if God didn’t provide them a means of it, as He provided for us?

Do they have souls? Maybe. Probably. Maybe not. But God provides and He creates as He will. Things might work differently in those civilizations. Maybe we’ll know all about that some day, maybe not.

But I wouldn’t be too quick to doubt any of it. God creates out of love, and His love knows no bounds and no end.

When little green men arrive I’ll reconsider. The books weren’t just about places we know. It had to do with radiation and gravitational forces throughout the universe. Rare Earth is very much worth the read. The universe isn’t friendly to life, sorry to say, especially intelligent life.

My problem is the seemingly contradictory words in Scripture. For one they point to Jesus as the only Son of God, which means unless He visited these other beings, they cannot likely enter Heaven, for the only way to the Father is through the Son, and He was God’s only Son. But perhaps they do not have the stain of original sin; is that sin unique to humans? If they do not, Heaven could be had I suppose. So many questions and too many to process in terms of our biblical worldview, IMO.

Personally, as someone who grew up on and still adore Star Trek, and sci-fi in general, I don’t have time to be overly curious or think about it too much. We have so many problems here on this planet, and frankly, if I make it to Heaven, I don’t much care whether or not the men from Ceti Alpha V are allowed in too.

That’s odd!

I don’t believe or disbelieve in extraterrestrial beings. God is certainly big enough for there to be others, and even other universes, but there is no evidence of either, nor do I think there could be.

I always thought of believing in extra-terrestrial beings as an atheist or New Age thing LOL!

the only way to the Father is through the Son
What about Moses?

As far as UFO’s and aliens from outer space are concerned, I believe it is possible that there is life elsewhere in the universe. However, i haven’t seen any convincing evidence of aliens who visited the earth on a UFO from outer space. It is true that I did see a flying saucer myself over my city, moving slowly and it appeared to have living creatures moving inside. It was nighttime but the saucer was fairly lit. However, a few days later i saw a report of a weather balloon over the city.

What does inter dimensional mean?
This is a tricky question to delve into without coming off sounding new age. When you start talking about the possibility of interdimensional travel it brings into question how we understand reality. Some scientists and physicists today are questioning if the universe is “out there” or if it’s something we carry around with us like a turtle does its shell. Questioning if space and time are part of humans animal instinct that are needed to make sense of things. Topics like quantum physics, entanglement and consciousness are tied into it.

Without getting more into all that, I will say I personally believe it’s interdimensional. Not that I have any real concrete idea what that means. Jimmy Aiken also dives into these questions on different episodes of his mysterious world podcast. Like him I don’t automatically assume whatever this is, is demonic. Although that possibility exist. Depending how literally you interpret Revelation there is talk of ‘supernatural’ beings coming here and deceiving even the elect.

TBH I’m not sure if it’s necessarily alien beings. It definitely could be. Or these orbs and ships could be pure intelligence or something we can’t put into words or describe. They are being encountered though by our military. Google Commander Fravor and what he encountered. He said it’s not from this world. In some cases the UAP’s (unidentified aerial phenomena) are breaking the laws of physics. Also the Pentagon has come out and said they don’t know what this is.
