Seems to be directly linked to the uneasiness caused by Pope Benedict XVI reading a quote from a Byzantine Emperor.

***Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and may perpeetual light shine upon her.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in Peace.***

Shot in the back three times. Fox News says four times in the back by two “armed gunmen” with pistols.

Somalia’s top jihadi cleric’s call for death:
Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin urged Muslims to find the pontiff and punish him for insulting the Prophet Mohammed and Allah in a speech that he said was as offensive as author Salman Rushdie’s novel The Satanic Verses. “We urge you Muslims wherever you are to hunt down the Pope for his barbaric statements as you have pursued Salman Rushdie, the enemy of Allah who offended our religion,” he said in Friday evening prayers.
“Whoever offends our Prophet Mohammed should be killed on the spot by the nearest Muslim,” Malin, a prominent cleric in the Somali capital, told worshippers at a mosque in southern Mogadishu.
“We call on all Islamic Communities across the world to take revenge on the baseless critic called the pope,” he said.

Across the world is right, and that’s part of the problem, which just goes to show you what they are trying to do and achieving, and that is pretend to be mingling with your community, when all they really want to do is destroy it internally.

Being educated in the west, learning to fly aeroplanes in the west, the west needs to waken up, before they destroy it internally and externally.

This is a very disturbing turn of events.

However, the Church is built upon the blood of martyrs, who converted the world by their blood witness. The problem (a happy fault of sorts) with these wicked clerics is that they, like Satan, are going to give the Lord a means to bring about his will. God can work with such violence to touch mens’ hearts and spark conversion.

It’s the secular West that has the most to fear: “because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth.” (Rev.3:16)

The Church cannot be shaken. It is not possible. Even should we all be killed and the Catholic Church no longer exist on earth as we know it, no gunman can spray bullets among the members of the Church Suffering or harm the Church Triumphant. That Italian nun will be raised from the dead as will her attacker by the same man, the God-man, our Lord Jesus Christ, for whose love she has spilled her blood. I pray that her assailant may find that same love before it is too late.

There are too many Americans indifferent or blabbing something about ‘negotiations’ with these killers.

This kind of brutality is as old as Islam itself. It seems that the Muslims who are “offended” by the Pope’s quote, are not offended by the statement that Islam has been spread by the sword, but that it was characterized as “evil and inhuman” and “incompatible with religion”. I believe they are offended by the suggestion that violence is evil and not of God.

Violence in their faith seems to be sacred. For instance:

A poetess named Asmaa bint Marwan was ordered to be killed for uttering a few verses of poetry against Mohammed. A Muslim assassin, acting on Mohammed’s orders, crept at night into the women’s bed while her suckling baby was attached to her breast. The man plucked the baby from her breast and then plunged his sword into her abdomen. Later, the killer, fearing the consequences of his crime, asked Mohammed, “Will there be any danger to me on her account?” Mohammed answered, “Two goats will not butt each other about her.”

There were many other outrageous assassinations ordered by Mohammed. Abu Afak, an old man of 120 years of age was murdered for composing poetry critical of the Prophet. Another brutal assassination was against an aged women by the name of Umm Kirfa. They tied her legs to camels which were then driven in opposite directions. The poor woman was split into two pieces.

The reality of the Muslim assassin’s brutality is punctuated by their practice of cutting off the heads of victims and bringing them to Mohammed. As the killers came into view carrying with them the evidence of Allah’s victory over the enemies of Mohammed, a jubilant Mohammed would cry, “Allaho Akbar,” (God is great)!

I got this information from this website: www.islamreview.com .

The words “kill” and “fight” occur more often than “pray” in the Quran. I don’t know if the word “love” appears even once and I am quite sure there is nothing even remotedly equivalent to Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount”.

I suppose we are now to apologize for her getting in the way of a Moslem bullet.

http://pajamasmedia.com/images/sister_leonella_featuredimage.jpgSister Leonella: Killed for the “honor” of Islam.
Nun and guard slain in Islamic reaction to Pope’s comments: “The bodyguard died instantly, but the nun, from the Missionaries of the Consolation order based in Nepi near Rome, was rushed into an operating theatre after being hit by three or four bullets in the chest, stomach and back.
“She died in the hospital treatment room,” doctor Ali Mohamed Hassan told Reuters. “She was shot outside the hospital, going to her house just across the gate.”
“A nun from the Missionaries order identified her as sister Leonella Sgorbati, born in 1940, in Piacenza in northern Italy. In Somalia since 2002, she trained nurses at the SOS Kindergarten hospital.”

The American government is not indifferent about this at all. In fact, if you’ve watched the news lately, you’ll see that the situation in Somalia is about to enter a crisis phase, and that it’s incredibly worried. For years, the government has been in a state of virtual anarchy, with fighting between dozens of local warlords in Mogadishu and little control of any areas outside of the city. Now, a rebel group led by ultra-extremists Islamic militants with direct funding from Al-Qaeda has managed to take over the city. An attempt to create a representative government has nearly failed, although Ethiopians are trying to covertly support it with very little success. The Al-Qaeda government threatens to put in place another Taliban-like regime, and may be working with the same Sudanese group that is ethnically clensing blacks in that country. The US is loathe to get involved because of its disastrous invasion in the 1990s and the fact that even the local warlords fighting Al-Qaeda still hate us. Frankly, there is virtually no group within the country (even among those that hate Al-Qaeda) that would support us. The extreme anarchy would make it untennable to occupy even if an invasion took place.

The murder of this nun is entirely unsuprising, as she was working in one of the most dangerous places on Earth with an ultra-extremist Al-Qaeda group itching for recognition. These are NOT the type of Muslims you would find in most nations. This time, you can blame it on unparalleled poverty and the locals begging for any kind of unified government. I think it was Thomas Hobbes that said “The only thing worse than tyranny is anarchy”.

Although ironically, the Virgin Mary appears in the Qu’ran FAR more than in the Bible…

Well, the version of the Blessed Mother as filtered through a heretic named Muhammed appears in the Quran… anyone could write a “holy book” and include her as a character. Certainly, the true Blessed Virgin can only be found in sources compatible with Catholic theology.

Edited to add: Again, does anyone know if the word “love” appear even once in the Quran?

God rest her soul and those of the 2 people who died along with her. I cannot find it in my heart to refer to Islam as a pack of rabid dogs masquerading as a religion… They make me absolutely sick, and how anyone can defend them or justify appeasing them is beyond me!

Be careful, you’re painting with a broad brush here.

God is wrathful and unloving in the Koran

"Some critics say that the Koran mentions the concept of love only twice. In fact, the Book mentions the concept of love about a hundred times, if such statistics are really the essence of the message.

After declaring God’s universality, the Koran describes God as “most Merciful, most Compassionate” (1:3). In fact, every single Surah except one begins with this declaration about the divine nature.

God is also known in the Scripture as “Full of Loving-Kindness” (11:90; 85:14). It is with the attribute of divine Love that the Koran most often seeks to directly create a relationship with humanity by encouraging those actions that bring God’s love and discouraging those actions that extinguish God’s love.

Without doubt, the Koran also mentions God’s wrath for those who reject faith after clear signs have come to them, and upon those who are bent on spreading evil and corruption on earth. But, as Prophet Muhammad said while quoting God himself, “My Mercy prevails over My wrath.”"

Mind you, I’m not Muslim. I’m a faithful Catholic and I truly believe in my religion. I’m also a history professor, and as such, I always try to provide a balanced position so that people can make up their own minds.

You are posting this in the wrong site. You should post it on the sites that are encouraging terrorism. The whole point of the Pope’s lecture was that it is wrong to propagate your religion with violence. The reaction to his lecture is more violence. You need to tell them they are wrong, if you dare. It is easy to tell Catholics we are wrong, we won’t kill you for saying it. Good luck telling them they are wrong.

Ok, here’s a couple of quotes to demonstrate that some Muslims ARE speaking out in favor of the pope. (This was written BEFORE today’s apology.):

"Turkey’s top Islamic cleric, Religious Affairs Directorate head Ali Bardakoglu, welcomed the Vatican statement.

“He says that he respects Islam and didn’t want to hurt the feelings of Muslims. I find that a civilized position,” said Bardakoglu in an interview posted on the Web site of Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine."

and…

British Muslims sought to calm the situation.

““We welcome his apology and we hope now we can work together and build bridges. At the same time we would condemn all forms of violent demonstration,” Muhammad Umar, chairman of Britain’s Ramadhan Foundation, a youth organization, told Sky News.”

I will also add that several Muslims posted editorials on Al-Jazeera denouncing the violence and explaining the full statement of the pope.

Those along with someone out of Italy are the only ones I have seen, and they have been posted a lot over here. I am glad the Turkish liberal Imam accepted the Pope’s “apology” which should not have been necessary.

Have you posted your admonition on the Muslim sites yet?

Even better, I have been personally invited by a Muslim professor I know to participate in an interfaith dialogue next year, both at the college I work at and in several major Muslim nations. The conference is only in the planning / discussion phase at this point. (I have travelled extensively in Turkey and Morocco with my family in the past. My best friend, who was my roommate in college, is a Muslim from Istanbul.)

And yes, I have posted comments on many sites.
