and taken out of context, too…

obviously, one context it has been taken out of is the BIBLE…as a whole. We need to accept ALL that the Bible says… not just the parts we like. the Bible is either ALL the Word of God or it isn’t…

seems protestants always neglect to speak about certain “Catholic-sounding psgs” such psgs as ***St Mt 25:31 where it speaks of works and says that if you don’t do works of charity, you end up in Hell… ***
or James 2:12 that says more than mere faith is needed…

or 1 Cor 3:13 which they never mention because it alludes to purgation…

and etc etc…

Funny but the Catholics are the ones who understand the bible better than you do, our church also talks about the bible more than a Protestant church.
Jhn 6:39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me** I should lose nothing**, but should raise it up again at the last day.

Jhn 10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

Jhn 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Jhn 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Jhn 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

1Jo 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

What about the Holy Mass? The Saints? Their undying love for Christ? Their martydoms? Their Holiness? The Blessed Mother an Her apparitions? Yes, the Word of God is first, but Catholics have so much more than that. We are privileged to have received the Word of God from the Catholic church, our bibles. If it weren’t for the Catholic church, you wouldn’t be quoting your verses.

all this has been tought by the Church. the Bible was not around yet and Church was teaching all. you cannot 2000 yrs later pick up the Bible from the Church and claim the Word for yourselves. anybody can do this because they have the Bible. if the Bible is taking from you, you would not know what to say. but the Church being tought by Christ Himself and the Apostles have all the Teachings of Jesus even when the Bible was not existent. the Bible is not a selfhelp Book. it is not a read and claim.

no where it says read and believe. it does say that one must hear and believe. who do you hear from? from hte Church commanded by Christ or do you hear from a man made religion who also think they understand just by reading it.

What about it? The Word of God came from the Roman cathloic church??? I thought God was the author? Not some religious organization. Just like the virgin birth I can not explain it I just trust it by faith.

The bible was not in existence? We always had the old testament it bleeds Christ every book in it! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

we who? no we did not always had the Bible, the Jews did have the OT. gentiles did not have the OT. to them was the Word of God. one nation was chosen by God. One Church built by Christ to carry on the Word of God. Bible alone does not give any man authority. you cannot take the Bible from that One Church and claim to have the Word of God. it was not given to you. it was taking ilicitly from the Church. it would be like the gentiles coming to Israeal and steal the OT from them. you cannot in any way steal from God and profit from it.

the promise is to the One Church built by Christ and not for everyone who has a Bible. once you realize this, you will find the Truth.

Remember, the bible was written BY MAN inspired by God.
God gave the Words and man wrote them. God chose men. men were chosen. men did not offered themselves to do it.

God dictated and men wrote the letters. why cant protestants understand this?

Protestants understand the inspiration of Scripture just fine. The dictation theory, however, is not a very popular one. Most Protestants will describe it as plenary verbal inspiration.

mmmcounts, we’ve heard your stories before so try a new tactic. Talking about indulgences, the Church being the “community of believers” (obviously, what do you all think Catholics believe the Church is??)

Many of you have a habit of using Church with a capital C to refer exclusively to the Magisterium. Why else would you say the Church “has to be VISIBLE?” You’re talking about the structure of authority, right?

Oh, and the reason I brought up indulgences is because it was demanded of me. I was asked why I am a Protestant. After all (the asker said) you are a PROTESTant. P-R-O-T-E-S-T!!! Why protest? Why in the world would you do that? You know as well as I do, but then when I give the reasons you ask for I get this response: “Get outta here, we’ve heard that all before and it’s getting obnoxious.” Well, if you don’t like the reasons for the Reformation, don’t ask for them.
abuse scandal, etc etc. Guess there’s always a new protestant that thinks they’ll “convert” the Catholics from their idolatry.

the original Church is the Roman Catholic one…
The original church is Jews who believed in Jesus. Jesus is the root, and Jews are the original branches. Many of the original branches were broken off so that you- a wild olive shoot- could be grafted in. All Gentiles belong to branches that have been grafted onto someone else’s tree. It’s described in Romans 11.

"Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry 14 in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. 15 For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? 16 If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

17But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, 18 do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. 19 Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. 22 Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. 23 And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.

Whose olive tree is it? Who are the original branches? Not you, son. Let me remind you who this letter was written to specifically: ROME! This is YOUR letter. It’s telling the Church in Rome that THIS ISN’T YOUR OLIVE TREE. You were grafted in along with many other branches, and you are NOT the original branches- the original branches are identified, and get this: IT ISN’T YOU. So if you don’t mind, you can stop referring to those “different” branches as separate churches and start referring to them as “other” branches who, like you, share in the same nourishing root of the olive tree. God is not the author of confusion, but you only said that in order to throw up a straw man and beat it right back down. God’s Church is a tree with many branches that have been grafted in, and you are one of them. That isn’t too confusing, is it? It’s explained right there in the letter TO ROME.

Ok, I was just talking about the Christian Church and you called it imaginary.

Dude. Don’t do that.
The Church is not imaginary. The “church” you described is imaginary. It exists only as a delusion in the heads of some.

No, God is not the author of confusion, man is. Bible alone people is the author of confusion.
no Scripture contradicts another. but you use the Bible to bring confusion.

none of these Scriptures says that Jesus did not build a Church because He did. it is written and no one can deny it, although you try.

the many branches are the people within the Church. this is not saying that many churches with diferents teachings should exist. so dont try to use these Scriptures to justify the wrong done by man who uses the Bible thinking they understand.

shame, shame!!!

No, God is not the author of confusion, man is.
You’re a man, too. Unless you’re a woman. In the Biblical gender-neutral sense, “mankind,” I suppose. So what if I’m a man? What does that prove?
Bible alone people is the author of confusion.
Poor grammar is the harbinger of confusion. You do realize SS is more limited in scope than most Catholics make it out to be, right?
no Scripture contradicts another. but you use the Bible to bring confusion.
Scripture does not contradict itself. CC teaching sometimes does contradict Scripture, though. Are you still confused?

You know, there comes a point where I stop taking the blame for your confusion.

Jesus did build a church. It is a semi-autonomous collective of individuals who follow Jesus. Following the Pope is strictly optional.

I affirm our unity in Christ, but while doing this, I will maintain a certain degree of autonomy whether you like it or not. I hold that this does nothing to our unity in Christ. If you have a problem with it…well, I hope you don’t. Let me know when you get over it.

Snarkiest post I’ve read on here. Why are you even here, mmmcounts? To tell people how good your theology is? Why should we “get over” your heresy when you’re trying to spread it on a Catholic forum? We stick to the teaching of the apostles as the Bible tells us to, and this board is about giving Catholic answers. If you don’t want any Catholic answers, why are you here?

The bible was given to anyone who believes. Just as all of Gods gifts it is free. What an evil heart that would exclude those who God chose to include.
