Japan nixed Obama atomic bomb apology

The Russian, Polish, and Lithuanian woman and children didn’t have anything to do with the Germans invading their country either but Germans still raped and killed them by he millions - my grandmother, twin infant uncles and great aunt included. If the Germans didn’t want to reap the whirlwind maybe they should have abided by some sort of “civil” conduct of war of their own - as they did for the “most” part in the west.

As for it being a war crime, I believe it has been called that. But without starting WW3 there was no means of forcing a judgement.

The Germans did not rape by the millions.

My paternal grandmother and two uncles were in the AK (Home Army), survived the war, but were murdered by a faction that had personal issues with them. That two of the murderers were subsequently tried and hanged was of small comfort to my father and his two brothers in America.

I see that as a problem since the USA has set a precedent in defending the use of atomic weapons.

The precedent set is that axes of evil regimes such as North Korea and Iran have every reason to fear America. An apology will hence give the appearance of weakness, and will be akin to giving these regimes a green light to carry out their own (nuclear?)ambitions.

Japan of course is not interested at all in such a state of affairs coming to pass, and have said so in no uncertain terms. Any sign of American weakness in this regard puts them in a very perilous position vis-a-vis NK nukes.

More than ever now, America needs to be feared. Obama’s obsession with the world liking him sets a dangerous precedent. Thankfully, that obsession may have him curtsying before the Japanese emperor, but it does not involve him repenting from the absolute fierceness of Americas past.

from my understanding, the Nazi ideology was a completely racist one. Jews were cunning like rats, and dangerous on account of their ratlike intelligence, and therefore it was imperative that they be exterminated. The Slavic people of the East though were genetically inferior to the blond lions of the Germanic tribes. They regarded the Slavic lands of the East as somewhat of a hinterland for expansion, and the Slavs as inferior gene pools that needed to be emptied in order to carry this plan out.

In the West though, with captured Allied prisoners and the like, they played by the same conventions as did America and the Western Allies.

i saw look at the japanese war museum in japan, its a horrible death for anyone.

the problem i think is that america puts its fingers in to many pots, nobody tells america what to do, they should telling others what to do, the problem with this is obama and well bush thought that everything effects there interests, so they have to act, if they had just stuck with afganistan, alot of problems would be over.

speaking of the current war, taliban or not al quida, bin ladin is dead, so why is america still in afganstean? i mean pakistan next, iran? as much as i bash american policy, i really dont want to start complaining about iran war or pakistani war, not that either is a legitimate army…other then Pakistan has nukes so dont think they will do anything…

And so the German women just had it coming? The million or so raped in the East were just reaping what the sowed? My grandparents were a bunch of potato farmers in Pomerania. All but my grandfather either died or lost everything they had during the “revenge.”

If the Poles, Lithuanians, Czechs, and Russians wanted to be better than the nazis, then the idea would be to try the people responsible, the Einsatzgruppen, the camp guards, the policymakers in a court of law. Raping innocent women and tossing their children off of bridges is not justified by the fact that they belonged to “the perpetrator race.” That’s just inverted Naziism.

I don’t think the Soviets wanted to be better than the Nazis, they just wanted to kill and punish them. Again, the German people reaped the whirlwind of retribution sowed by the government they elected.

The embargo, on oil and scrap metals, was imposed by the US, and by Britain and the Netherlands, in late July 1941. It was also triggered by the Japanese demand on Vichy France, for access and bases in Indo-China, which they were forced to grant. The embargo was accompanied by a freeze on all Japanese assets in the US.

Three million Jewish women died in the concentration camps, another 3 million “undesirable” women (Catholics, Gypsies, and mentally handicapped, political scapegoats) also died, you don’t think its unthinkable that just 20% of those murdered were not raped - let alone the millions that actually lived? Then you have the many more millions that simply “lived” in the path of and under the occupation of the German army that considered them less than human.

I guess common sense isn’t so common any more.
