Ah, but there are Jedi Masters out there! 👍 We used to call them “Zen Masters”, but Star Wars has permeated popular culture so deeply at this point. “Jedi Master” is a irreverent title of respect out here in reality. Twenty years ago, one of my mathematics professors could have been called “Zen Master of Linear Algebra”. These days, we call him “Jedi Master of Linear Algebra”. 😃

Silly. Reminds me of the old filk song that begins with “I am a Ronald Reagan Carl Sagan San Diegan Pagan”. Later in the song, the singer switches to “Mr. Magoo R2-D2 Do-As-I-Do Voodoo (who every other Thursday night holds a service where we praise Cthluhu).”

I met “John Norman” and his wife at CastleCon 6 - they were very nice people and he was quick to distance himself from anyone trying to live out the lifestyles portrayed in his novels. Also, he pointed out that the warrior/slave girl population portrayed in his books were intended to be a tiny minority of the people on Gor - they were only more interesting to write about than the regular Joes.
