Sorry, i haven’t looked much at this site in last week. Didn’t feel like replying to posts. Some are pretty angry.I think y’all scared him off, he hasn’t posted in three days.
Several have said they were driven out of the organisation. Remember, no one becomes a witness without many months of Bible study and association. Then they would have to decide and ask to get baptised, then go through sets of questions to make sure they fully understand what they are getting into and really believe it.
It’s not a “Ha Ha! You have come to 3 meetings so now you’re a JW! If you leave now we will shun you!” sort of thing.
If you make an informed choice, dedicate yourself to Jehovah, and then later decide to live contrary to that promise, what do you expect? The congregation to keep treating you like nothing is wrong? It’s practically divorcing Jehovah.
I just stumbled on this site by accident and felt obliged to rebut a couple of incorrect statements. I didn’t really mean to get too involved.
I have since realised several posters are ex-witnesses who have withdrawn or been expelled from the congregation for some reason. One was trying to “be-friend” me, pretending he was just related to a witness and that’s why he knew stuff. Looking back on earlier posts I realise that was not true.
This concerned me somewhat. I prayed about it, and at our meeting on Sunday, on a totally unrelated matter the speaker sited psalms 26:4. “I have not sat with men of untruth or those who hide who they are…"
I straight away I thought of the insidious way internet forums can be used, with false names and details. I consider that an answer to my prayer.
If Jehovah was using internet forums to spread the good news he would get more competent people than me in his organisation to answer them.
And if people really want to know what JW’s teach and why, they will ask them when they call, not a forum infested with bitter JW drop-outs.
A friend in the ministry got told he was in a cult the other week. He pointed out cults are usually all secret about what they are doing and believe. “How much less secretive can we get than calling on people and offering to explain what we believe?” he replied. I thought that amusing.
And yet here I am writing under a fake name to people I know nothing about, some certainly trying to deceive or trip me.
What am I doing?
If you have serious questions, ask the witnesses when they call.
I’m not getting involved in these debates anymore. I see little point.
I pray for God’s blessing on you if you are searching for the truth.
“Read God’s word the Holy Bible every day!”
Regardless.
