The LORD said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived. numbers 21 verse 8 and

But no one bowed down before it … and it wasn’t used in worship but it had a one-time use. You are using statues in worship perhaps daily. The serpent wasn’t used that way. It wasn’t bowed down before it … and when it was used in a way God didn’t intended it to be, it was destroyed.

Nope, that is alright as I have spoke Truth and you refuse to see. My God Bless You. Good Day.

Cristian b, as long as youre not a JW you are OT in this thread. This thread is for discussions for Jehovah’s Witnesses doctrine, not a place for your anti-catholic rants.

as for your accusations, I wish for you to see the (Jewish) temple of Jerusalem, and see all your personal descriptions of “idolatry”.

good day:)

I believe this is exactly what I have said.

You mean images used for decoration? I still don’t find a record in which God actually let the Jewish people bow down before those images or statues, or whatever they might be.

And I still haven’t got your answer about what I said about Baruch neither on a PM or on a new thread.

By the way, you consider this ‘violent’ and a rant because you never actually heard how I’m saying it. How do you know that I don’t speak with a soft and loving voice? You are assuming, and it is a very dangerous thing to do.

JW’s and the Eucharist. I attended the JW’s memorial celebration and bread and wine were passed around and no one ate or drank the bread and wine. I was explained that only if you were one of the 144,000 could you eat or drink of the gifts. Each yr. world wide they keep a running tab of who ate or drank and their numbers were added to the 144,000 count. Apparntly , they believe when the number reaches the 144,000, then they will all be assumed into heaven.

Could a JW please explain this to me

New and Christian B, by what authority did Russell have to start the Watchtower Society?

If the WTS is the only inspried instrument of God, why did it take Him almost 1900 years to make that appointment?

Did not Christ promise an unbroken authority here on earth in Matthew 16?

Do you know what the early Christians that were taught directly by the Apostles profess?

Did not God ask Moses to build an image of a copper serpent to be saved in the wilderness? Was God being inconsisntent since this happened AFTER the 10 commandments was given to Moses?

Did not the temple contain images of cherubim and bulls? How does this square with God commandment?

Where did the bible come from? Who compiled it? What came first, a church or the New Testament?

If the WTS is the sole instrument of God, why has their doctrine changed SO much in the last 120 years?

Heres the Thing about those 144000. they are from the 12 Tribes. Not the world. And the command from Christ was for us all to take and eat. For only if we eat his flesh and drink his blood can will we have life in us.

Food for Thought.

Cristian,

Do you have any records in which Catholics actually offer sacrifices to statues? Do you have any records in which Catholic teaching, in response to the question: “Is Mary a goddess?” responds, “Yes, she is, and we worship her!”

Also, in the country of my birth it is customary for young persons to show respect for their elders by taking the elder’s hand and touching it to your forehead. Do you consider this worshipping the elder?

You certainly give her a lot of God-like qualities.

Also, you still haven’t addressed my point: does it matter what we do physically or only what we do mentally?

Did you try to find any documents of the Catholic church teaching that Mary was a goddess? Even in your cursory search you were not able to find anything, correct?

I am satisfied that you now understand that we do not worship Mary or the saints–that latria is reserved to God alone.
Also, you still haven’t addressed my point: does it matter what we do physically or only what we do mentally?
Like most Catholic answers: it’s both/and. Not either/or. 👍

Jesus is Risen! Alleluia!!

Oh really? What about the snake Moses raised up? What was at the center of the Jewish Temple? Ark of the Testimony. Who was only allowed to enter and give REVERENCE?

The mjority of non-Catholics have a profound misunderstanding about bowing and religious art. In fact the NKJV Study Bible even makes it clear that God was not against ALL relgious art. Exactly!

It is written that all those who looked at it, not bow down before it, were healed. Also, this was a command from God. There is also a command that says not to bow down before statues and images. Isn’t the Church saying the contrary?
What was at the center of the Jewish Temple? Ark of the Testimony. Who was only allowed to enter and give REVERENCE?
This comparison fails at several points.

  1. *]Those were art, used for decoration. When the high-priest bowed before the ark he was bowing to the blank spot between the angels and not to the angels, and on that spot was God. And notice that there wasn’t an image or anything of God there.
*]Also, just as I said, only the high priest did that. But now the whole Church does that. From the highest to the lowest. So only the high priest was allowed to enter, bow down to the spot that represented God (he wasn’t bowing down before the angels, but before God) and only he did that, not the rest of the Israelites.

    So this allegory doesn’t work.
The mjority of non-Catholics have a profound misunderstanding about bowing and religious art. In fact the NKJV Study Bible even makes it clear that God was not against ALL relgious art. Exactly!
I’m not against art either. But what if someone bows down before the art? What if someone kisses the art’s foot (if it’s a statue)? What if someone clothes the ‘art’?

Are we supposed to adore the image as if it were the real saint?

Also, please, if you wish to continue this discussion please PM me or start another thread posting a link here. I do not wish to continue anymore because we are leading it off-topic.

You certainly consider her omnipresent (and the other saints as well). You also consider her sinless. You also consider her a mediatrix between God and man (Jesus is God, and she is considered a mediatrix between Jesus and man). Also I heard some say all grace between God and man comes trough her. Also, if I’m not mistaken, the Pope consecrated the third millenium to Mary. You’d believe it should have been consecrated to God, but seems like Mary is better than God at this. And there are more.

Imagine there is a group of people. There are about 20. Now you see that all, naturally, seem to pay respect to one man of their group. They all seem to respect and follow his decisions, but they don’t call him ‘boss’ or ‘leader’ or ‘chief’.

You don’t have to be a genius to discover that that man is the leader of the group, though he is not considered as such. In the same way, you don’t have to be a genius to see that if some ones gives to some person or thing (dead or living) god-like attributes that they consider that someone or something a god(dess). Even if one does not call Jesus ‘Lord’ but does everything He commands, He is his Lord, even though he does not call Him that way. One does not need to formally accept one as a god, but it is obvious by observing how they give him god-like qualities and in what way they worship or venerate him, that they see him as a god, whether they accept it or not.

So you don’t have to formally accept her a goddess for her to be one for you.

I see. Happy Passover and may God bless you!

You certainly consider her omnipresent (and the other saints as well).
Do you have any Scripture verses that tell us that those in heaven are bound by time/space? Chapter and verse, please!
You also consider her sinless.
That does not make her a god. Baptized babies are sinless yet we do not declare them deities.
Also, if I’m not mistaken, the Pope consecrated the third millenium to Mary. You’d believe it should have been consecrated to God, but seems like Mary is better than God at this.
False dichotomy.

Right! Because this man that they respect is only in service to the King. And all 20 people know that! 👍
So you don’t have to formally accept her a goddess for her to be one for you.
I could say the same about you perhaps and your Bibliolatry? Even though you don’t formally accept worshipping a book, would perhaps your actions be read as such? Would I be justified in accusing you of Bibliolatry?
Happy Passover and may God bless you!
Oh! Did you know that the CC celebrates the fulfillment of the Passover each and every day, around the world, at every hour of the day? How magnificent is that??? :extrahappy:

I’m not a JW.

So don’t involve me into this.
It really doesn’t matter if you’re not, the questions asked pertain to all non Catholics. If your part of another church, where did that founder get his authority?
