I’ll defend Muslims and their right to worship as they see fit but I won’t defend Islam. That would be dishonest since I think they are wrong. I won’t run around saying they are going to hell either though, that’s above my pay grade (which is just about 0).

ETA: I don’t agree with pretty much anything else he says though. There is a weird anti-Islam thing going on at NCR. I wasn’t their biggest fan before but it seems to me they are going off the rails.

He lives in Egypt which is 88% Muslim so I’d give him some credit for personal experience.

Go live with them for awhile and them let us know if you feel the same! God Bless, Memaw

Wow, and a Jesuit said that?? Now I’ve seen everything. 😛
That was my first thought, too. All the Jesuits that make the news are saying things like “the Church will/should redefine marriage.”

Yeah I hear ya,

“Jesus really didn’t intend for all marriage to be permanent. He was joking. He’s really OK with your fourth marriage.”
—Probably a Jesuit priest.

“Christians,”he wrote,“are expecting something from you other than vague and harmless declarations that may obscure reality.”**
Left political correctness often runs away from truth.

“I am the way, the truth and the life” said Jesus.

Running away from truth is running away from God which is why so many of them are Godless and why the religion of political correctness is detrimental to society.

This is not our religion.

Jesuits are all over the map. You can NOT paint them all with one brush. This particular Jesuit is also a Melkite Greek Catholic priest…so his perspective is that of an Eastern / Byzantine Christian living in the Middle East.

He has presented the truth in a balanced and bold way. Every Catholic should learn this and pray for the conversion of Muslims.

Hospitals are full of sick people, churches are full of sinners.

I read this article earlier today and I think this Jesuit scholar should be taken at his word.
I worry for his safety, but I think he believes it important to express this. Too many others are afraid to speak out.
He certainly has personal experience and is showing courage.
