"Jesus IS God!"?

Nowhere in Scripture is it taught “God … consists of three persons. God is a trinity of persons.”
These things pertaining to God or the Blessed Trinity do not have to be written as “Scripture” in order to be true.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-15 “But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, 14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.”

The gospel of Christ is not all written down in Scripture as you can see by the preceding Scripture. Some of it has been passed down orally (by word).

Jesus commanded the apostles to go out and “teach.” He did not command them to go out and write a book and call it a bible.

Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”

Matthew 16:17-19 "Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Who has authority, Scripture or the Church?

It is the Church. The Church made the Bible. The Bible did not make itself. God also did not drop a book called the Bible from heaven down to earth. The Bible cannot interpret itself. It has no authority. The Catholic Church represents Jesus on earth and it has His authority to do so.

Matthew 18:17 “And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.”

The Church, the one with the successor of Peter who has the keys of the kingdom of heaven, has Jesus’ authority on earth and it will continue thus until Jesus returns at the end of time. This one Church, alone, has the final authority on the interpretation of Scripture.

1 Timothy 3:15 “but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”

The Church is the pillar and the foundation of truth, not the Bible. Scripture is inspired by God and it is helpful (2 Timothy 3:16-17) but it is not the pillar and ground of the truth.

Listen to His Church. It alone tells us the whole complete truth regarding faith and morals.

The Church teaches that there is but one God. God is three divine persons. They are named: Father, Son (Word/Jesus), Holy Spirit. They are equal to each other.

You also said:

“Only someone who is both God and Man can mediate between us and God.”

Hebrews 1:1-2 makes it perfectly clear that the prophets of old were mediators (spokesmen) of Father Yahweh’s word before Yahshua was our mediator (spokesman). Moshe was the mediator of Father Yahweh’s teaching (torah, law, commandment). Note that in TRANSLATION (eg. K.J.V.) that Father Yahweh made Moshe a “god” unto Pharaoh:

And Yahweh said unto Moshe, See, I have made you a mighty one “god” - K.J.V., “yl” - Hebrew transliteration] to Pharaoh: and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet (Exodus 7:1).

In Hebrew yl or wl meant ‘power, strength or might’ and when in reference to Father Yahweh He was the Almighty the Supreme source of power.
Only Jesus can mediate the reconciliation of mankind to God in atonement for Adam’s sin. Please read Romans 5 and you will find this to be true. Only Jesus can restore everlasting life for us which Adam lost for us.
Original post by Frank4YAHWEH "Yahweh is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: has He said, and shall He not do it? or has He spoken, and shall he not make it right? (Numbers 23:19)
God the Father is not man. God the Son is both God and Man. He is the Word, the only begotten Son of God made flesh (human). God calls Jesus His “beloved Son.” (Mark 1:11) Jesus is the “Son of God.”

Jesus also calls Himself the “Son of Man.”

John 5:26-29 “For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.”

Jesus is both “Son of God” and “Son of Man” and that is why He alone mediates our reconciliation with God in atonement for Adam’s Original Sin which we all inherited from Adam. Jesus is both God and Man. He alone reconciles us with God by His death on the cross.

Yes, I am quite aware that Yahshua is only our mediator in this last time period. That is what I had made known in my post. You said "“Only someone who is both God and Man can mediate between us and God.” and I am in disagreement with this statement as I have aslo made known in my responce.
God the Father is not man. God the Son is both God and Man. He is the Word, the only begotten Son of God made flesh (human). God calls Jesus His “beloved Son.” (Mark 1:11) Jesus is the “Son of God.”
Nowhere in Scripture does it teach “God the Son is both God and Man. He is the Word.” This is a teaching of man and not of Yahweh.

I am in agreement with this.
Jesus is both God and Man. He alone reconciles us with God by His death on the cross.
I am not in agreement with you that “Jesus is both God and Man.” Nowhere in Scripture does it teach “Jesus is both God and Man.”.

"Jesus IS God!" Is A Deceptive Doctrine

The false and deceptive doctrine “Jesus IS God!” has lead many into believing diverse concepts of other false doctrines such as Holy Trinity, Oneness, Two Yahwehs (Dualism), and etc. Not once has Yahshua ever proclaimed to be “God”. Yahshua has never said “I am God.” and none of the apostles (those sent forth) or any of Yahshua’s disciples (students) has ever said “Yahshua IS God!” Father Yahweh Himself has never said or inspired anyone to proclaim “Yahshua is God.”

Nowhere in the Scripture am I ever taught or asked to confess “Jesus IS God!” I am only taught and asked to confess in Scripture that Yahshua is the Messiah the son of the living Yahweh.

To Believe “Jesus IS God!” Is To Be Deceived!

Did Yahshua Create?

These things pertaining to God or the Blessed Trinity do not have to be written as “Scripture” in order to be true.
Scripture is only where I am instructed to get my doctrine for reproof and correction and instruction in righteousness.

All scripture is given by inspiration of Yahweh, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of Yahweh may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all righteous works (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

I am never instructed in Scripture to get my doctrine from the so called “Holy Roman Catholic Church”.

To Believe “Jesus IS God!” Is To Be Deceived!

I’m sorry, Frank, but it’s very difficult having a discussion with you.

You constantly seem to expect scripture to say the words “God is one in three persons and Jesus is the Word” or something like that.

No, it does not say that. What it does do, though, is calls the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost God in several passages. In other places, all three are put together, to show that they are truly a united 3. Then there are also passages where the the Son or the Holy Spirit are said to do the same thing as Yahweh is said to do.

I won’t repeat the scriptures that countless others on this thread have quoted. Please look through those passages, and think to yourself, “What’s the clear meaning?” Also, pray that God will show you the truth. That’s all the advice I can give you.

As to the divine mystery: Yes, it is a mystery. We can attempt to understand it, and get pretty darn close (see my water-ice-steam analogy :)) but God has kept it a mystery. (God leaving things not understandable is nothing new. We can’t fully comprehend things like God’s omnipotence, his existence outside of time, etc. either.)

So here’s how the Trinity has always been understood: The Father is God, The Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God, but the Father is not the Son or the Holy Spirit, the Son is not the Father or the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is (you guessed it!) not the Father or the Son.

👍 God Bless you, my friend, and I pray that God will lead you to the Truth.

(PS It might help, though, if you show us where we’re in the wrong in interpreting some passages of scripture. Mostly you’ve just said “scripture doesn’t teach ___”. Thanks a million.)

** I am so confused about the church theology. The topic here is “jesus is God.” But some one said that God is not Jesus. How complicated !!

It means God is different to Jesus. So that makes at least two (gods). One Greater God and the other may be smaller one. Then we have to remember the church formula of Three (gods) in One (God) and One (God) in three (gods.). That is abbreviated into: three in one and one in three. That is expanded into “Three gods in One God and One God in three gods.”

I sthat not so? Who will explain such complex ideas?**
Don’t be confused! Satan is the author of confusion. The so called "Holy Trinity doctrine is nothing but a mathematical confusion! Ignore all that you have learned from mere uninspired men who do not get their doctrine for reproof and correction and instruction in righteousness from Scripture. Only study and concentrate on the diverse translations of Father Yahweh’s inspired word. When you only studying and concentrate on the translations of Father Yahweh’s inspired word, you will find a completely different doctrine than what the religions “of this world” teach. Keep in mind also that translations are just that, transaltions are not without error. I would suggest that you get yourself a couple of Hebrew and Greek dictionary/lexicon concordances and learn how to use them. James Strong’s Concordance is a great one to start with. This concordance and a number of other concordances are available online. I have a web page that has a number of reserch links on it at: frank4yahweh.bravehost.com.

Don’t give up because of supposed authoritive confusion!

You will be throughly furnished if you study to show yourself approved an workman unto Father Yahweh just as His son Yahshua did.

All scripture is given by inspiration of Yahweh, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of Yahweh may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all righteous works (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

No, you are dead wrong from Jump Street! Nowhere in Scripture does it call the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost God. Not one single passage proclaims such foolishness!

Praise Yahweh you have given up with you foolish ranting. My hope is that you turn to the truth of Father Yahweh’s inspired word and turn from lies that are not taught in His word. 👍

… they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction ( 3:16).

Hi Frank, its ok if you ignored my posts, your plate appears to be full here anyway. I love that you quote the Catholic church’s first Pope “Peter” by his name Kepha = Rock, I hope your protestant supporters and non catholics see that you use the Word “Kepha” (Rock) the name Jesus gave Simon bar Jona, translated to “Peter”. I appreciate you addressing Peter by his name “Kepha” Rock and not by his faith, as protestants and non catholics misinterpet.

Just a thought for your posters;

John 20:27
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”
28
17 **Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” **29
18 Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

Peace be with you

Nowhere in Scripture is it taught that Kepha was “the Catholic church’s first Pope.” Kepha would object to anyone addressing him with that blasphemous religious Pa Pa title.

Yes, I’m glad I gave up ranting, too. Theological discussions are something new to me.😃

But, here’s a little view of how the Trinity works with scripture:

THE FATHER IS GOD

I don’t think anyone will dispute this one.
“Grace be with you, mercy, and peace from God the Father”
-2 John 1:3

THE SON IS GOD

“Then he saith to Thomas: Put in thy finger hither, and see my hands; and bring hither thy hand, and put it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing. Thomas answered, and said to him: My Lord, and my God.”
-John 20:27-28

(A prophecy of Jesus)
“For a child is born to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.”
-Isaiah 9:6

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John beareth witness of him, and crieth out, saying: This was he of whom I spoke: He that shall come after me, is preferred before me: because he was before me.”
-John 1:1,14-15

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD

"Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.”
-Acts 5:2-4

FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”
Matthew 28:19

“According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, unto the sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you and peace be multiplied.”
-1 Peter 1:2

I do hope this helps!

God Bless, and I’m sorry for the previous ranting.😊

Oh! I might as well chime in on the whole “Peter the Pope” thing (a little off-topic though)

“And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.”
-Matthew 16:18-19

“Peter” means rock. So what Jesus is saying is ‘Thou art rock; and upon this rock I will build my church.’

Jesus built his church on Peter, and “whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven” pretty much sums up the Pope’s role.

Jesus built his church on Peter, and gave him a whole lot of authority.

If the Pope (Peter’s successor) says the Trinity is true, we should believe him, because his authority comes from Jesus himself.

God Bless.

John 20:27
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.”

17 **Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” **29
18 Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

Did Thomas Call Yahshua “God”?

Explanations proposed:
  1. Thomas was surprised when he saw the Lord in their midst. “My God!” was just an expression, a “statement of surprise.”
  2. Thomas was actually addressing both the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ when he said, “My Lord and my God.”
  3. It is not a teaching text (non-didactic text); actually Thomas made a mistake when he said, “My Lord and my God.”
  4. Thomas could have been saying my master and judge. The word ‘theos’ is generic and has many meanings and can mean ‘judge’.
Webmaster’s Comment: It is my stance that Thomas exclaimed “My master (lord) AND my Almighty One (‘God’)!”. He said “my master ‘lord’]” giving reference to Yahshua as his master AND “my Almighty One (‘God’)” giving reference to Father Yahweh as his Almighty One.

Here is the entire text from the ‘New American Standard Bible’ John 20:27-28:

“Then he (Yahshua) said to Thomas, ‘Reach here your finger, and see my hands, and reach here your hand, and put it into my side; and be not unbelieving, but believing.’ Thomas answered and said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’”

Please observe the mark of exclamation (!) at the end of the phrase. The King James Version does not use an exclamation mark.
Please notice there was no question asked in the entire narration. Hence, the text which reads “Thomas answered” is inaccurate.

The last phrase “My Lord and my God!” was not an answer but it was an outburst by Thomas, having seen something inexplicable and baffling. It is not unusual that a man cries out; “O’ my God!” when he sees something totally bizarre.

Below are the texts from two reputed versions of the Bible
that support what Thomas said was not an answer to any question.

‘New English Bible’: Thomas said, “My Lord and my God!”

‘Phillips Modern English Bible’: “My Lord and my God!” cried Thomas.

Study Supportive Passage:

Apostle Yahchanan writes, immediately after the discourse between Yahshua and Thomas; “Many other signs therefore Yahshua also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written that you may believe that Yahshua is the Messiah.”

If Yahchanan had recognized the answer by Thomas to be a testimony for the ‘Deity of Jesus’, and the observed silence by Jesus to be his acquiesce to such a testimony, then the apostle Yahchanan would have asked us to believe “Yahshua is Yahweh”, instead of “Yahshua is the Messiah” in the above verse. Yes, I’m glad I gave up ranting, too. Theological discussions are something new to me.😃
What you fail to realize is that I am quite familiar with the many deceptive doctrines of the diverse so called “Christian churches” “of this world”. 😉

If Thomas was exclaiming “My Lord and my God” as some say “Oh my God” today, why didn’t Jesus correct him?

“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that shall take the name of the Lord his God in vain.”
-Exodus 20:7

If Thomas was saying that, it would go against God’s Holy Law! Jesus would have certainly corrected Thomas if he broke one of the commandments, wouldn’t he?

God Bless

**You will die in your unbelief unless you repent. This is not that difficult, but somewhere down the road you have been misguided.

In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God? Who is the Word? I and the Father are One…

Anyway; doesn’t really matter, the Bible says the “natural man” cannot understand the things of God, you are certainly living proof of this text.

If I had to explain the Trinity in a fallen human sense I would use myself as an example. I am married and have children and siblings. I am a parent, I am a spouse and I am a sibling (3 distinct personalities; yet one person)

You did not address the fact that the great commission says to Baptize them in the NAME of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; Name being singular.

I pray now for Yahweh’s blessing on you spiritual sight. God bless!

-Matthew 16:18-19

“Peter” means rock. So what Jesus is saying is ‘Thou art rock; and upon this rock I will build my church.’

Jesus built his church on Peter
No, Yahshua did not build his congregation on Kepha personally. He built the rock (foundation stone) on what Kepha’s inspired responce was to Yahshua’s question to his disciples (students) that Yahshua was the Messiah the son of the living Yahweh, not that he was “God” as your so called “Holy Roman Catholic Church” teaches. There is no mention that Kepha was to be addressed by the blasphemeous religious title of Pa Pa (Pope) or no mention of a “Holy Roman Catholic Church”. Context! Context! Context!

People that use the phrase “Oh my God” as a (disrespectful) outburst always use the phrase first and then continue with what they mean. Thomas says “My Lord” first – making a declaration. “and my God” continues as a declaration and not a surprised outburst.

Thomas did not say “Oh My God!” and he certainly did not say “My master (Yahshua FATHER Yahweh’s SON) AND My Almighty One (FATHER Yahweh).” {two seperate beings mentioned here, the Son and the Father} with disrespect. Also, it is not hard to believe that one can cry out in exclaimation with respect to our Heavenly Father and Creator by saying “Oh my Almighty One!” Note also that Thomas most certainly did not speak the English language and that this is but a mere translation from former translations which is subject to error.

So now you are changing it that he is addressing both the Son and the Father, and it is not an outburst–

You really do seem confused.
