I asked my priest today and he kind of glossed over it and told me to read John, which I already did. Then he told me he could not do anything for me because I didnt believe the basic of the faith and refused me confession. I am really confused now. I am sad and hurt about my treatment by the priest. I feel he does not have the power to judge me like he did.
You probably aren’t telling us all that you said to him either.
That’s fine, we don’t need to know. But you do need to study your faith.
If you don’t even know the basics and are telling a Priest you don’t believe Jesus is God and then asking for the Sacrament of Confession, I can see why he thinks you need further instruction and that isn’t the place for it.

Call your Parish during the week and ask to join the R.C.I.A. class, if you don’t hav one in your Parish, call around and find one in your area that does. The Cathechism is online, the Holy Bible is online, the Vatican web site is online this site has loads of information as well as being on the radio and so does EWTN, which is also on T.V.

There really is no reason in this day and age for anyone not to know their faith.

… The only person who exist before creation is Jesus, the Word.
When u read these verses , u think of whom ? Why this person is not son of God or God Himself to you ?

Without father, without mother, without genealogy, he has neither beginning of days nor end of life but is like the son of God, and he remains a priest for all time

Could be an incorrect interpretation, reading without context isn’t good.

I am thinking about an eternal priest whose past and history is unknown and irrelevant compared to his eternal priesthood.

Why isn’t he a god or something similar. I know for a fact that only Adam and Eve are without a father or mother, thus the first phrase isn’t literal but is to show irrelevance of the person’s past to the responsibility and position he has been given.

As I said, out of context thus I could be wrong. I shall try to search from where you got the above

Christians consider Jesus (pbuh) to be God on the basis of:

Jesus’ pre-existence as stated in John 8:58;

Jesus said unto them, ‘Verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am.’”

The idea of pre-existence is not unique to Jesus even in the Bible. Pre-existence was mentioned in relation to Solomon (Proverbs 8:23-27), to Job (Job 38:4 and 21) and to Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:4-5).

The Qur’an states in Surah Al-A’raaf (7):172 “When your Lord gathered all of Adam’s descendants (before creation) and made them bear witness for themselves…”

We thereby know that ALL men were created in spirit before the creation of the physical world. Jesus (pbuh) was not unique in this pre-existence and cannot claim divinity because of it.

It’s related to Prophet Abraham (pbuh). He met someone who has no father , mother , beginning , end.

It is about Melchisedech, a person that scripture does not say much about. It is not he literally has no beginning and end. From scripture we have no knowledge about his parenthood, birth and death, he is a man shrouded in mystery. He appears out of no where.

Some speculate him to be Shem, others say he is an angel. As far as I am aware of there is not an official teaching on this matter.

** MelanieAnne, being visited by an angel may be more near to truth than being visited by God Himself. You have One God (Father) sitting up there in Heavens and the other god (Jesus) walking in the streets. That is not believable.

From Adam to John the Baptist, always angel used to visit and give message. Even Jesus was a messenger because he said he was sent. Like all other messengers. In Islam we do not have to change the modus operandi of God Almighty. Our God remains the same as that of the Jews. For you, God is not Jesus but Jesus is God. While God is not Jesus but Jesus is God. It means that Jesus is interfering with God, sitting with god, walking with god, speaking with god, as a god. Because you say Jesus is god.

So whatever Jesus is doing there, he is doing as a god. While Father is also there. What Jesus is doing now, we do not know.

Is it not a good idea that you all take Jesus as a man only, as a man of God, as a prophet, and let the real Jews and Muslims have some rest too.**

You are, of course, not obligated to believe what Jesus told us when He said He and the Father are One. The Trinity is a mystery that we cannot fully understand. God is God, Jesus is both fully God and fully human. We are merely human and do not have perfect understanding. Just because something is beyond human understanding doesn’t make it any less true.

Neither are you obligated to believe our other scriptures where we were told, in fact we were warned, that visits that are purportedly from an angel that brings other scripture are cursed and might actually be a demon disguised as an angel. Yet that is just the sort of story that is told about the introduction of the Quran and (hundreds of years later) the Book of Mormon. The Bible warns that such scripture is cursed and not therefore not from God.

What if you are wrong about the angel that brought the Quran? What if it wasn’t really an angel, but instead a demon? If you are wrong about that, you may also be wrong about Jesus.

**MelanieAnne, thanks for explaining. Is your bibleNT by an angel? Our Quran was revealed by an angel. Your bibleNT was brought by an angel? Please confirm yes or no. Thanks.

You did not reply to my question of Your One God in heavens and another one (Jesus ) roaming the streets on earth. I do not want to disturb you. If you have a reply then please give. Otherwise forget it.

No our Bible, whether New Testament or Old Testament, was not brought by an angel. But both the Quran and the Book of Mormon were allegedly brought by angels. We have a scripture passage in the New Testament which warns against further scripture being brought by an angel as being cursed:
Galatians 1:
8 Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach (to you) a gospel other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed!
9 As we have said before, and now I say again, if anyone preaches to you a gospel other than the one that you received, let that one be accursed!
Regarding God in Heaven and God (Jesus) on Earth ~ I thought my explanation that there are things, often referred to as mysteries, which we humans cannot fully comprehend, and answered your question, at least in general terms. To address your question more specifically, yes, we believe that God the Father is a spirit in Heaven. We also believe that at the Incarnation, God, in the person of Jesus, lived as a human on Earth, both fully human and fully divine. How can this be so? We cannot explain it entirely (that’s why it is often called a mystery) but Jesus has told us that it is so.

We also know that Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected within 3 days, just as He said it would happen, contrary to Muslim tradition. Of course, like Mormonism, Muhammad would need to find a problem with an earlier faith in order to justify his founding of a new one. But unlike Mormonism and unlike Islam, our faith was founded by God in the person of Jesus Christ, whereas Mormonism and Islam were founded by men. To continue the comparisons further, both Muhammad and Joseph Smith instituted practices in their new faith that were very self-serving, not a sign of holiness but just the opposite.

Angel means messenger. It’s a vocation not necissarily always a creature such as a Jinn. The thing about God is that you cannot understand him to begin with. The bible reveals things about God until full revelation in Jesus Christ. Look at Moses. God introduces himself to Moses saying to thell the Hebrews that “I am that I am” later God reveals himself to Isreal as Jehovah Jirah (Lord Provider) and as time progresses we learn more about God. Note that back in Genesis God says "let us make man in our image. Jesus claims to be the Son of God but the Jews don’t accept it so he says quoting psalms
41Then Jesus said to them, “How is it that they say the Christ[d]is the Son of David? 42David himself declares in the Book of Psalms:
" 'The Lord said to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand
43until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.” '[e] 44David calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?”
Jesus is clearly referring to himself as David’s Lord though he is decended from David. Jesus testifies to himself as God. When Jesus is baptised the Father himself speaks from heaven Testifying that this is “My son in whom I am well pleased”.
It is arrogant for man to think he can fully understand God with his finite mind. God is a Trinity Three equal persons one God that no one can fully understand because we are men not God.

I am confused on this issue. I grew up catholic and never knew this. For the past few years I have been very confused. I “have” read the scripture and dont see any proof. Am I missing something? What makes you believe?
I can understand you being confused, it not something that is easily understood, but there is biblical proof to support it, however in the end it is “Faith” that ultimately is the determining factor. I look at it this way, it is not Jesus the Man who became GOD, but it was the second person in the Holy Trinity, the Word of God that became incarnate in the person of Jesus (John 1:1).

Are you 100% sure that all of the quran was revealed by an angel? What about the so called “Satanic Verses” recited by Muhammad, who revealed those to Muhammad??

Planten - let me ask you a question does Allah live in heaven or in the Kabba, since the Kabba is the house of God??. So in other words, is your One Allah in heaven or roaming within the santuray of the Kabba???

Well stated Katy_kt 👍…here’s a good link for Muslim Woman to read and understand who Melchizedek was from both a Jewish and Christian perspective.

I’d like to ask Muslim Woman, is Melchizedek mentioned in the Quran???

So what is your point here???, no believing Christian denies that GOD has no beginning, no end…it still does not negate the fact that the Word of God became flesh in the person of Jesus. Why do muslims think it is beneath God to enter into his own creation??.
Do you beleive in the Jewish biblical story of God appearing to Moses in the form of a burning Bush?? Is there anywhere in the Quran where Allah manifested himself into his creation?

What does the title Kalimatullah and Ruhallah attributed to Jesus mean according to muslims exegies??, and why was Jesus given such titles?

Gabriel of 12;

First baptism, then Holy Communion, then the sacrament of Confirmation. Understanding these Christian initiation sacraments from a biblical and Apostolic Traditional belief will begin your journey of faith. Jesus instituted all 7 sacraments in the Holy Catholic church, and all of them have biblical support and teaching. Open a Catechism of the Catholic church and it will help you find these scriptural support of the 7 sacraments.

Peace be with you
