I agree completely that Jesus is the cornerstone of the faith, for it is WRITTEN.
Yet, show me is scripture where it is alright to baptize an infant. Also show me where it says to baptize in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Also show me in scripture where it says when a man is baptized by water he is baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ.
Baptizing infants:
Acts 16:33 “And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and
all his family were baptized.”
1 Corinthians 1:16 “Yes, I also baptized the
household of Stephanas.”
Families and households contained slaves, servants, children, and infants.
It doesn’t state “everything” about baptism in just one Scripture but if you put several together you can figure it out.
Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Ephesians 5:26 “that He might s
anctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,”
Acts 22:16 “And now why are you waiting? Arise and
be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’”
1 Corinthians 6:11 “And such were some of you. But
you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”
Titus 3:5 “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the
washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,”
John 3:5 “Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is
born of
water and the
Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” (born again)
All of the preceding Scriptures were referring to Baptism.
Romans 6:3 “Or do you not know that as many of us as were
baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?”
Galatians 3:27 “For as many of you as were
baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and
make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Matthew 16:18-19 "And I also say to you that
you are Peter, and
on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Jesus built a Church upon Peter and His successors. His Church knows the traditions taught by Jesus and His apostles. This is why it is important to listen to His Church and not lean unto our own understanding.
1 Corinthians 11:2 “Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and
keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you.”
2 Thessalonians 2:15 “Therefore, brethren,
stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.”
Acts 22:16 “And now why are you waiting? Arise and
be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’”
