To all the Jewish people, why do you not believe that Jesus was the Messiah? I just want to know the reasons you don’t believe in Jesus.

Thank you

Actually some Jews do believe in Jesus. They are called Messianic Jews and they are really cool. I went to a Messianic festival a few weekends ago and it was great, lots of singing and dancing. They still celebrate all the festivals such as Passover and Yom Kippur, and still keep Sabbath, and call Jesus Yesuha. I really love the blending of the Jewish tradition with the Christian belief in the Trinity. After all, Jesus was a Jew, and Paul converted many Jews to Christianity.

As for traditional Jews who do not believe Jesus is Messiah, I think they just missed the boat!

Thank you for your answers, everyone. I am sorry if many people before me have asked this question.:o I looked for it but couldn’t find the answer. I guess I am not so good at looking through stuff for information.😦 Your answers have answered my question fully, though, so thank you.

A few of them are even Jewish by background - Messianic Jews are mainly Christian by background Protestants who like a bit of Judaica in their lives.

i believe it is more than a few who are Jewish. i don’t think that Messianic Jews are mainly Christians.

Actually, none of them are Jewish - we Jews have another name for them, we call them ‘Christians’ -the proportion of them who are Jewish by background is something that would be a matter of dispute between us.

I suppose that a group calling itself ‘Catholics for Mohammed’ might consider themselves ‘Catholics’ but I expect that Catholics would have another name for them - ‘Muslims’.

For the purposes of this thread, Messianic Jews are a diversion.

i am sure it is not easy for some Jews to accept that some from their faith have left Judaism for other faiths whether it be Catholicism, Buddhism, Mormonism, or any other faith. Messianic Jews consider themselves still Jewish, but they believe that Jesus is their Messiah and theirr worship services have both a Jewish and Christian tradition.
there are several Christian churches that like Judaica, but they still call themselves Christians even though they celebrate some of the Jewish holidays.
the roots of Christianity are in Judaism. Jesus was Jewish. Jesus spoke in the synagogues and celebrated Jewish holidays and lived a Jewish life. so why do you reject that some Jewish people do accept Jesus as the Messiah? why do you say Messianic Jews are a diversion?
when i took a discovering Judaism class, the rabbi said that one reason most Jews do not accept Jesus as the Messiah is because they believe that when he comes, he will stay and not leave and come back as Jesus died and was resurrected and He will come again.

The OP asked why we didn’t accept Jesus, not why Christians accept Jesus - I expect that he probably is quite aware of why Christians accept Jesus.

For those interested in this subject I would suggest the book “Twenty-six reasons why Jews don’t believe in Jesus” by Asher Norman

Paul’s Letter to the Romans

Chapter 9

1 I tell the truth in Messiah—I do not lie, my conscience assuring me in the Ruach ha-Kodesh— 2 that my sorrow is great and the anguish in my heart unending. 3 For I would pray that I myself were banished from Messiah for the sake of my people—my own flesh and blood, 4 who are Israelites. To them belong the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the Torah, and the avodah, and the promises. 5 To them belong the patriarchs—and from them, according to the flesh, the Messiah, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen.

Hm, the OP asked why we don’t believe in Jesus, not why Christians believe in Jesus. 🙂

Hey Kanichen! 🙂

Notice that "theirs is . . " - not “theirs was”. The Old Covenant - the Torah - is an ETERNAL covenant between God and his People! The Covenant has never been revoked.

Read:

**“Only once in human history did God take a country as an inheritance and give it to His chosen people,” Cardinal Schoenborn said, adding that Pope John Paul II had himself declared the biblical commandment for Jews to live in Israel an everlasting covenant that remained valid today. Christians, Schoenborn said, should rejoice in the return of Jews to the Holy Land as the fulfillment of biblical prophecy. **

I love your religion! Judaism is the Mother Faith of Christianity. You are our brothers and sisters in Abraham! We have been grafted into the Olive Tree of Israel through our trust in Jesus Christ. We are wild olive shoots that through Jesus have been welcomed into the Family of Israel to worship the One Jewish God YHWH.

I also have Jewish ancestors - quite a good while back - but they are my distant relations and so I am very fond of them!

I was actually reading through the Bible at the time I came upon this thread, and so I decided to quote it because I thought it was appropriate. I wasn’t making any statements however!

I understand why Jews don’t accept Jesus. Your interpretation of the prophecies differs from us. Indeed many Jews think that Christians take too many liberties with these prophecies.

I am open to learning more from my Jewish brothers regarding this 🙂

After all Pope John Paul II once said:

"With Judaism, therefore, we have a relationship which we do not have with any other religion. You are dearly beloved brothers and, in a certain way, it could be said that you are our elder brothers".

You could be right, although my source does not say so. I certainly would like a little Judaism in my religious experience, since more than half of the Bible is!

Actually, I was watching a PBS show on Judaism, and they said that until about the time of Constantine, Christians would regularily attend Jewish festivals such as Passover, but then a prejudice against Jews began to develop in the Church and Christians were forbidden to attend them.

Seems a shame to throw out the baby with the bathwater. 🤷

Anyway, the source I quoted earlier says that Messainic Jews are Zionists. So they are certainly pro-Israel.

that is because the messianic jews are more closely related to the evangelical sect of christianity.
it is important to know that not all Jews are zionists.

why is the topic of messianic jews a diversion to this thread? just because you are jewish and do not accept Jesus does not mean that we cannot acknowledge other jewish people who have accepted Jesus as their messiah.
i believe that the covenant between God and His chosen people is very much alive and not “old”. there is an excellent book called Salavation is from the Jews.
the Jewish people who practice Judaism are very obedient to the Torah and their faith.
i don’t think it is part of God’s plan that we forget Judaism and everyone become follower’s of Christ. God’s chosen people still play an important part in the world and contribute so much to art, literature, science, etc.
