The thing is it is not ignorance, but direct denial. Muslims who take their faith seriously, totally deny the deity of the son. So its not ignorance, its explicit denial of what is truth. And Christ says, he who denies the son denies the father. Now I think the difference in regaurds to the unknown God, is that precisely the unknown God was unknown. The Greeks did not know the true God who was unknown to them and could not speak as to deny properties about him. But Paul revealed who the unknown God is, that is the true God, Jesus Christ.
Couldn’t Jesus have meant maybe that if you deny the teachings that he tried to convey you also deny the Father as Jesus’ teachings were the teachings of the Father for the most part?

…uh, yeah, I don’t get it. 🤷

Probably that was just a parable then…

There’s correct denial and incorrect denial. For example many are in denial alcohol will kill you and continue to indulge, that’s incorrect. Another soul through reason stops, that’s correct denial.

“Will you give me a drink?”

If you knew… If you knew… IF you knew.

“If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

How is your God and theirs different?
Do they believe in the lord Jesus Christ and that he is the only way? Do they believe that Marry is version? Do they believe in the New Testament? NO!!! and that is why I said “anymore” in my previous comment. because they used to worship God correctly, but not anymore.

In the end, it really doesn’t matter much if you celebrate Channukah or Pentecoast or Rhammadan as long as you love G-d with all our heart and mind and all your strength, and your neighbor just like yourself

Sounds good to me!

In Judaism, the issue is this: 1=1. If you believe in the One G-d, then it’s good.

I always find it interesting that Catholics are fond of pointing to the teachings of the Magisterium and the Pope to prove a point…unless it disagrees with their own beliefs and prejudices…
Thank God for the Magisterium and the Pope 🙂

If they do not explicitely deny the son, if they seek God however he has revealed himself (without denying who he is) I will concede it is possible that God may redeem them. Though this is but guesswork, only God knows. But how can we say we have the same God as those who deny who God is? Muslims deny Jesus as the eternal son of God proceeding from the father from all eternity. This is wrong.
So do Jews. Are they not followers of the same God then?

They all believe in the God the creator, the God of Abraham etc… but they don’t believe that Jesus is the son of God and the Messiah foretold. I believe that Muslims consider Jesus as one the greatest prophet but don’t accept him as the son of God. They also accept Mother Mary as being a virgin. Catholic do accept Mother Mary as being a virgin but not protestant.

Christian do believe in the trinity. God made of three persons just like a shamrock is made of three leaves. Our father, the son and the Holy Spirit.

I think a great book to get is this one “The history of the church”. It tells you the history of how the religion started.

Thanks Chantal! I knew a gal named Chantal De Marco. 👍

The Church has spoken on this matter as of VII. The Church states that Jew, Christians and Muslims believe in the same God. Thank you for stating as much. I cannot understand why so many Catholics are stating otherwise. Everyone may have an opinion, but their opinion does not create dogma or doctrine. 😉 I was more interested in what Protestants thought. I didnt expect Catholics to be against it so much lol. Thanks for the post! 👍

You have to know the truth before you can deny it. Do you believe that the majority of Muslims have ever heard the truth concerning Jesus Christ? They have been lead astray by a false prophet. Not the same as denying Christ.

Which is why I can only speak as to explicit denial. Many muslims do know of Christianity and what it teaches and still deny it.

Fair enough…Do you deny the God they believe in? Do you believe the “Jewish” God to be false or just the Jewish belief?
I believe the trinitarian God who has been present all throughout history has revealed himself fully in Jesus Christ. The jews received a portion of this knowledge but came to reject it, thus rejecting God and making for themselves a new God.

Interesting…I disagree of course but thank you for your honesty and opinions!

I think virtually all analogies that try to explain the Trinity fail to some extent. That’s why the Church has wisely called the Trinity a mystery. In the light analogy, I see the problem, from the Christian as well as the Jewish standpoint, is that you are dividing the white light into parts which together form the full spectrum of light. However, according to the Christian understanding of the Trinity, G-d is NOT divisible even though He consists of three distinct Persons. For Jews and Muslims, even the idea that G-d reveals Himself in three distinct Persons comes too close to a breach of monotheism.

Another question relative to the topic: what do Jews, Muslims, and Christians think about Oneness Pentecostals who worship Jesus only, not the Father and not the Holy Spirit? Do they worship the same G-d?
This is utterly blasphemous.
