He was listed in the link that the poster had provided. It was a tongue in cheek response.
I realize that, but the same link clearly stated he was only a practicing Catholic from the ages of 10-15. If he had remained Catholic and continued to live a holy life, he never would have gotten himself into the despicable circumstances he did later in life that caused you to guffaw at the mention of him on the link.

So if superman was Jewish then Kryptonite was the Achilles’ heel, do you think it would be as fatal to superman as he was just a man, really, for him to eat pork. Maybe he was portrayed as a god.
I think that Kryptonite was a metaphor for pork.

Did you read where Polanski is coming out with more movie I’ll look it back up. the link is in the www.dictionary.com Hey he is in the bucks maybe all in France and he has sold his soul, I suppose. He has a very strong strong Jewish Catholic background but just a background. I do wonder what he is doing in France?

Are you seriously suggesting that superman did not have the stamina to make it through a half hour radio show??? 🙂

Getting back to the original question, I think that the Jews who converted to Cathoclism probably share some traits with the Jews who convert to Isalm or atheism. I think conversion is more of an emotional rather than intellecutal response. who can know the heart? (virtual dispensation for the first pilgrim that identifies that quote).

Alegre Fe thank you so much for that awesome website. Have you shared that to the person who started this thread?

Yeah and they both had about the same name. I guess we say history repeats itself. I can start a thread. But it won’t be too specific more general.

Did you know that MANY people have very similar experiences, called NDEs? And most are not Catholic, or even Christian?

We believe this story was put into Torah to teach Jews that even false religions can work miracles. This is why we know never to rely on a miracle alone as proof of something being from God.

Shalom!

Your reply reminded me of this parable told by Jesus and I would like to share it with you.

Jesus told this parable of the rich man and the poor man. Luke chapter 16 verses 19 - 31.

19
There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day.
20
And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,
21
who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man’s table. Dogs even used to come and lick his sores.
22
When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried,
23
and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.
24
And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.’
25
Abraham replied, ‘My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented.
26
Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from our side to yours or from your side to ours.’
27
He said, ‘Then I beg you, father, send him to my father’s house,
28
for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.’
29
But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’
30
15 He said, ‘Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
31
Then Abraham said, ‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.’"

And that’s why if theJews wont listen to the prophets like Isaiah where God revealed all the tellsigns who and what the promised Messiah would look like they wont listen to a dead man who rose from the dead. Though this verse is also about Himself who after 3 days will resurrect from the dead.

The book of the prophet Isaiah is all there pointing to us that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah. Every details of his life from conception to death was fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth. All those with eyes must see, those with ears must listen. But woe to those who has eyes but refused to see and with ears but refused to listen. Jesus said.

That’s why in His one of public appearences in a synagogue, Jesus read the passage from Isaiah about , making the blinds to see, the lame to walk, set the prisoners free and then after that He told the crowd “to this day this passage was fulfilled” because He knew that Isaiah was talking about Him.

And again He said, before Abraham was I Am.

In the beginning ws the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God, and all things were created through Him and for Him … and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

This can be true if they were in a state of frustration in their life which we all share. Maybe wanting to make the spouse happy or keep peace. We all share times like this.
Or if you are an introvert or extrovert you may take a long time and think it out and check it out or just jump in and check it out and reason later.
From what I have read from the stories they may not be in the same state as they were when they first became catholics. If they were protestants there is a certain amount of deprogramming I went through by reading and prayer not saying the Christian Way is wrong and then learn the catholic terms etc. The jew who has not even studied for awhile or never did almost has to learn the jewish way first and identify what type of jew they were taught. Before they can say oh yes this is catholic and oh yes it is judaism too. Which came first. So this whole thing triggers lots of memories it did with me in my catholic faith anyways. And to add to the complexity I never learned my faith. Otherwise I see them being pulled back to the Jewish way. I was pulled stongly towards traditionalism at first, and then relaxed but kept the special memories in the privacy of my heart. This we share also “traditionalism” attaching what ever to it.

happychristian, Do yourself a favor and save it. I’ve heard the Christian message so many times in my life (partly due to the work I do), that in my mind, the Christian message (Catholic, Protestant and JW forms combined) is synonymous with TV commercials that are overplayed too often.

KWIM? I long ago reached saturation point with it, and the study of it, for me, is strictly academic.

(FTR, I have read the entire NT through, several times. No need to keep posting lengthy excerpts, I’ve seen it all previously and could probably even quote much of it to you from memory.)

I’d like to get back to the original theory of this thread, if we can.
I was recently reading a story about Edith Stein, written from a Catholic POV. I learned something about her I did not know, even though I’d read several works about her in the past.

Did you know that at age 14, when an antisemitic teacher held her back from a promotion in school due to her being Jewish, she stopped praying and dropped out of school? That is reportedly when she decided she no longer wanted to be Jewish.

This is consistent with a theory I have, that at least some Jews who apostasized, did so as a way of improving their status in life, by no longer being seen as “the Jew”. This is why its tragically ironic that if that was her root reason for converting out, she ended up dying because of her Jewishness, not because of her Catholicity.

Though her last reported words to her sister in the camp were, “Come, we go now for our people”. That sounds to me as if she repented at the very last, and chose to die as a Jew, al kiddush Hashem (for the sanctification of God’s Name).

If you read the NT several times, even to the point of memorizing it (as you say), then aren’t you sinning against God for knowing your Messiah, Christ Jesus? I mean since you claim to know the NT inside out, yet still choose to reject him, is that not a sin??

But he’s not the messiah. I’ve also read the Quran, yet I don’t believe in Islam. I have also read the Bhagavad-Gita, yet I don’t believe in the Hindu deities, or the Hindu trinity either.

To me, the NT is just one non-Jewish religious book among many. You don’t seem to grasp this.

You know…rather than trying to convert Jews who have a strong belief in their faith, why not spend your time more productively, and try to win back the millions and millions of Catholics who have left the church they were raised in?

And btw, Cathdefender, it seems to me, after doing some minor clicking around on Google, that your church should have its hands full with its own former members, and should try to get them back rather than going after my people.

Did you ever read about Corrie ten Boom?
She was a Dutch Christian who was hiding Jews and ended up in the camps also, no escape for her!

Ms. Stein went to a Frankfurt Cathedral and saw a woman with a shopping basket going in to kneel for a brief prayer.
"This was something totally new to me. In the synagogues and Protestant churches I had visited, people simply went to the service. Here I saw someone coming straight from the busy** marketplace in this empty church, as if she was going to have an intimate conversation. It was something I never forgot".**
She started reading the NT. She picked up a copy of St. Teresa of Avila and read it all night.
"When I had finished the book, I said to myself, this is the truth."
Edith Stein after reading the NT felt that one could not read a book like that without putting it into practice.
On January 1, 1922, she was baptized. On August 9, she was gassed at Auschwitz. As Pope John Paul II put it she, as a Catholic during Nazi persecution, remained faithful to the crucified Lord, Jesus Christ and, as a Jew, to her people in loving faithfulness.
When in Holland, the Germans invaded and began rounding up Jews, the Catholic bishops objected, and Nazi authorities ordered the arrest of Jewish converts to Catholicism as retaliation.

One could hardly compare the NT to these other ‘false’ books…
If you see something in my post that is screaming to Jews to convert, be sure you let me know…that is not my intention by asking you that question…🤷
Furthermore, the same old tired argument about Catholics leaving the church simply is not true, but if it makes you feel better with that, so be it.

HappyChristian – thank you so much for sharing the light of Jesus Christ with Sepharad. As you can see, she spends almost all of her time online at this Catholic forum – if you look at her profile, she is posting an average of 31 messages a day here. Clearly, she is not finding what she needs in her current religion – she is confused and struggling to find her way.

We should respond with love and openness and prayer and hope that she can find happiness here. As it is, I am happy she can spend all day, every day, with the good Catholics of this forum – so much so that she is learning constantly from Catholics, and everyday being filled with the Catholic message of true Shalom that can come only from Christ and Paul and the Church. The fact that she is so obsessed with this forum means that a deep unconscious level – even if she denies it with her words – she realizes that this, the Church, is her true home.

Don’t be ridiculous. Posting on this forum is now an indication of one’s contendeness with their religion??? I agree that you should respond with love and openess as much as possible to all posts. I look forward to seeing it.
