Yeah. Part right. Autocorrect. I went back and edited it.

The one who failed miserably was Governor Cuomo and probably the mayor of
New York City.

So you wanted everyone to remain on the job working during the pandemic?
You wanted businesses to remain open and people to go about their normal
daily lives? As fast as the covid-19 was spreading we probably would have had
twice or 3 times the number of people dead from the virus.

Please explain how the unemployment numbers would not have risen during
the pandemic? You make all these accusations, but offer no solutions.

@Thbolt

Thanks to Cuomo’s careful precautions, we are now entering Phase 3 of reopening in New York City. I’ll even give De Blasio some credit although I have problems with his leadership. Yes, I know, the nursing-home scandal; but, apart from that, Cuomo has done a very good job leading the state during the pandemic.

Belgium, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Sweden and France have had more deaths per capita than the United States. If you ranked cities in there, New York City might be number 1 or 2.

Thbolt to 7_Sorrows . . .
You could make that argument if there was a single spike, but now we’ve moved onto Florida, Texas and Arizona among others. How did Cuomo cause the problem here?
7_Sorrows. Thbolt is conflating cases with deaths here.

Thbolt is also ignoring the national goals we had as a society.

To not destroy our American healthcare system and to flatten the curve.

Those goals were achieved.

Excellent point.

I thought before you said they had 8 deaths per million.

You can’t really compare South Korea to USA or Europe. Too many other factors to
consider.

Thbolt . . .
Darn shame our national goal wasn’t trying to prevent 130000 deaths instead.
Are you blaming Dr. Fauci with this?

Or do you think he is a national treasure?

How do you think this could have been achieved?
What about illegal immigration? How does THAT fit into your plan if you were in charge?

What about leftist European nations? Was that a “shame” too?

I’m sure we’ll hear a lot more after this administration is over.
Why wait four and a half years?

You can go ahead and say a lot more right now.

I pointed out to Thbolt in another post that South Korea prepared ittself after the
2015 MERS pandemic and they came up with an organized rapid testing.

Our president in 2015 was Obama. Evidently, nothing like that was put in place here.

Since covid-19 was a new virus, I am not sure how S. Korea was able to develop
a test for it so quickly or where their tests were from. @Cathoholic

Of course you blame Trump as you are obviously biased. If he developed a vaccine tomorrow, you would not give him credit, but continue to berate him
and criticize him.

For one thing, South Korea has a different culture from ours. We are more individualistic, stubborn, and, some might say, stupid in insisting on doing whatever we want instead of obeying the rules of government.

Governor Cuomo might be the one to worry about criminality because of the nursing homes, but he is a democrat and those were old people anyway so he will
get a pass. I remember a particular ad that ran years ago showing republicans wheeling granny over a cliff in a wheelchair. Governor Cuomo ran tens of thousands over the cliff.

I am out of likes tonight meltzerboy2, but I definitely agree with you. The South
Koreans are more disciplined and follow orders from their government and medical experts more than Americans do. I pointed this out in an earlier post.
Americans are definitely more individualistic and that is why the lockdown
was particularly hard for 2 months and people went a little crazy when each state
reopened.

Well, I blame the leader when there are failures in the organization.
No you don’t.

I have seen no demands of accountability from you regarding Andrew Cuomo and the New York nursing home debacle.

I think it would have been more accurate for you to just say . . . .

Well, I blame the Republican leader when there are perceived failures by me in the organization.

Edited.

We’ll see. There are 100000 dead Americans that don’t live in New York though, so keep blaming Cuomo to show your bias.
32,000 in New York, 15,000 in New Jersey, 8,000 in Massachusettes, 4300 in
Connecticut, 3100 in Maryland and 6700 in Pennsylvania. - New York and the
surrounding states responsible for over 69,000 deaths. That is only 6 states and it is because of their proximity to New York. That means the remaining 60,000
deaths are in the other 44 states. Over half the deaths are in the 6 states in the
NE.
If New York had responded faster, the rest of the country would have been better off.

Thbolt on a Biden cognitive decline thread . . . .
Thank goodness we have a leader that acts as a good example of discipline by wearing a mask and not having large rallies to sooth his ego.
He doesn’t need a mask. He gets tested frequently.
And how do you know what his interior disposition is on this issue?

Well - we know that China lied about the virus and was not forth coming as did WHO … South Korea’s first COVID positive person was a Chinese National age 35 on the 20th of January… the 2nd case was a Korean National who returned from working in Wuhan … and several others of the initial patients had direct contact with Wuhan … perhaps the Koreans are used to the lies from China and also had information on what was happening in Wuhan that the Chinese and WHO were not telling the rest of the world. The South Koreans began contact tracing with the first two patients and immediate action in the places they visited and social contacts.

Taiwan is much the same - they suffered in earlier Chinese viruses and they begin extreme cautions whenever there is a hint of virus activity in China because of their proximity and their immediate distrust of the communist regime.

Here in the USA - just announcing a travel ban get Trump castigated on the one hand as a racist and bigot and on the other hand his ban is panned because it allowed for green card holders to return to the states and some immediate family … so it was not a complete ban and was therefor ineffective.

So totally wrong … and Fauci said the ban was not necessary initially and then later changed his mind and it saved lives.

No one has ever suggested stay at home orders like we have experienced and everyone knew the economy would suffer extremely serious harm - and yet Trump never wavered in that…

While many governors and mayors and media decried the China ban and complained about how over reactive Trump was and how he was exercising power he did not have in - in February and early March - encouraging their citizens to go about their lives and activities - once the virus really made it presence known they changed their tune and blamed Trump for not acting sooner and with more authority - I remember the mayor of New Orleans saying Trump should have cancelled Mardi Gras … which he had not power really to do …

Complain about lack of respirators, hospital beds and masks and the federal government provided them … companies working to manufacture them at Trumps request - converting their machinery etc

We have labs and pharmaceutical companies working over time to get therapeutics and vaccines … in record time

And every death is Trumps fault … every person who upset over the [some very idiotic] regulations being imposed and those are all Trump supporters politicizing wearing masks - supposedly … but saying does not make it so.

Flatten the curve lock down morphed to no new infections … OR
Flatten the curve lock downs morphed to always an ever downward trend in infections … OR
Flatten the curve lock down morphed to not until there is a vaccine

The experts were unsure, wrong, at times conflicting and sometimes correct … and its Trumps fault
The experts held daily briefings almost daily for 3 months … they spoke … but its all Trumps fault

Trump is too upbeat, Trump is not serious, Trump is killing people, Trump is bad … We dont like Trump …stamp foot, we dont like Trump.
