Not enough time or space to discuss all of this here. But what you will get is the Divided States of America which I’m not sure is in everyone’s best interests.
bad? sounds like we’re talking about 2 flavors of soup we dislikeI see many distinctions between slavery and abortion however. I personally think they are both bad
things that are his, not things that belong to God such as life of newborn babies.Render unto Caesar…
Much better to let people “eat and drink their damnation” as Church Fathers called it, right? Denying Eucharist to public unrepentant sinner does good to him (on various levels) to others (on various levels) and what is even harmful in that? I would actually like to get denied Eucharist if I were ever in such state and needed a wake-up call in such way… I often do not go to confession when I feel like I do not have enough contempt for my sins nor do I feel like giving up on them, solely because such confession would be invalid. Receiving Euchart unworthily is not invalid, it is outright dangerous to soul. Priest has a duty to protect Eucharist as well as Biden.I stand by my comments… I find it sad that some of our priests feel compelled to weaponize the Eucharist.
Neither did slavery, neither did murders, nor thefts… should we make them legal?Abortions will not go to zero if it is illegal either.
The Framers of Constitution intended for most issues to be voted on by each individual StateNot enough time or space to discuss all of this here. But what you will get is the Divided States of America which I’m not sure is in everyone’s best interests.
Relativism has existed throughout history, no matter how loudly people want to shout.Revivals in religion, and revivals in the slave trade, go hand in hand together. (Cheers.) The church and the slave prison stand next to each other; the groans and cries of the heartbroken slave are often drowned in the pious devotions of his religious master. (Hear, hear.) The church-going bell and the auctioneer’s bell chime in with each other; the pulpit and the auctioneer’s block stand in the same neighbourhood; while the blood-stained gold goes to support the pulpit, the pulpit covers the infernal business with the garb of Christianity. We have men sold to build churches, women sold to support missionaries, and babies sold to buy Bibles and communion services for the churches. (Loud cheers.)
Abortion is not a deep grey area any more than slavery was a deep grey area. No, not grey at all. All that is needed is to look at the matter from the vantage point of the person most directly affected.I think erring on the side of freedom is usually the safer bet, when in a deep gray area.
I can’t, I admit but no one has argued with it yet. What are you basing that on? How would anyone know that?
If things are as you claim, then why do you oppose slavery so much and despise abortion so little?Well Catholicism supported slavery for all of those years. It is unpopular but the bible appears to be pro-slavery. So was Christianity according to Frederick Douglass who spoke movingly of Christianity’s complicity in 1846:
Sorry!! I got what you said exactly backwards!!I’m not sure what you are trying to say about what i said. Not exactly what?
First, “all” means you instantly lose argument since I can define one year where Catholicism did not support it and your point is null and void, however, for the sake of it… could you name a source where did Catholicism actually support slavery? Some Catholics did, no doubt, but did Catholicism do that?Well Catholicism supported slavery for all of those years.
Actually, I went back and made an edit. It is not good for people to avoid receiving Holy Communion when it is intended to help them avoid sin and advance in holiness. There are times it ought to be avoided, just as there are times when taking food by mouth ought to be avoided, but those are very serious.Oh, haha, no worries
