Agreed. Great post.
There is no moral equivalence, I will go with the Pope’s who have stressed the evil of killing the unborn innocents rather than someone promoting the Democratic party which now, because of their special interest, Planned Parenthood, are promoting infanticide in some places. Get it! I won’t support NOR VOTE for abortion/'infanticide enabling politicians. I hope no one here has done the same.In my mind, it would be a lot easier to get the state to stop directly killing prisoners, so why not go after the low hanging fruit first? In the process, you can educate people about what it really means to respect the Life and Dignity of the Human Person, regardless of personal merit .
Trying end abortion with a patchwork ethic of life makes it really hard to convince people that Catholics are not hypocrites, but sincerely believe all people (good, bad, healthy, disabled, etc) are created in the image of God.
Agreed. Great post.
I thought this was a good point. Pro-choice supporters do consider it hypocritical to be against abortion but for the death penalty. (How they can support abortion and yet be against the death penalty is beyond me and a topic for another discussion.) I think it would be better for the pro-life movement if we presented a solid front in believing all life is sacred. Not sure how my support of Luke’s comment links to supporting infanticide.Trying end abortion with a patchwork ethic of life makes it really hard to convince people that Catholics are not hypocrites, but sincerely believe all people (good, bad, healthy, disabled, etc) are created in the image of God.
Exactly. He teaches a consistent life ethic. There is no moral equivalence, I will go with what Pope Francis and others have said. When they say your philosopny, I will listen and let’s not forget, yes, Pope Francis has talked about the death penalty, but probably a few times a year, he comes out against abortion.
