AGHHHHHHH IT’S SO AWESOME! When I see a run-of-the-mill OF mass it never gives me such a jolt of grace as that! I was like, oh the readings flow so well, the prayers are beautiful, such reverence, I can really feel the piety and sense that this IS the sacrifice of Calvary, I’m learning things from these words, so powerful, by time communion came around in the video I feel such a sense of adoration toward the Eucharist that I just want to jump through the screen and take it! Nuns in habits! Chapel veils! I love it, although I felt a bit of vertigo as I tried to keep up in my missal, I loved the silence and could totally see myself benefiting supremely from joining myself to the priest’s prayers and contemplating. I never got this… awe… out of my local mass. It makes me sad that we cut so much down, and also the fact that now I want to attend one every Sunday and sign myself up as a traditionalist (really, the love of the EF was all that was missing to make me one) but I can’t get there due to car troubles. I just really felt like I was worshiping, there’s just something that feels so arbitrary about the way the OF is done… read these, recite that, take communion, get blessed, go eat, go home… blah.
Honestly, I think I just found what will fill this gnawing hole that I’ve had in my heart. I’ve needed a place to call home, or at least something BIIIIIIGGER than myself to identify with… I think I found it. WHEE!
