However, if the woman believed (honestly and truly) that she was doing the right thing, then how do we judge it?
We would judge it as any crime. You could use the same argument with regard to murder. If the person truly didn’t think it was wrong, the person is insane, and should be institutionalized.
If the person claims they are ignorant of the law, well, wilful ignorance of the law is not an excuse. And if such a law were passed, there would be so much media coverage, that it would be practically impossible to not know about it.

True. But that is my question, why make it illegal? Yes, you are murdering a child you helped create, but how do we respond to the “pro-choice” people? It’s your choice to kill your fetus or let it develop and give birth.
If it’s a mother’s choice to kill her fetus, why isn’t it the father’s choice? Why isn’t it the mother’s choice to kill her newborn, or even her toddler - it’s called the terrible-twos for a reason? And teenagers, what parent hasn’t had a moment when they wanted to kill them?

You are the exact same organism you were the day you were conceived, that’s simple science right there. If it’s murder to kill you now, why shouldn’t it be murder on day one?

I never said it wasn’t murder on day one.

I’m not sure we can even rely on much of our legal system. We have resorted to simply slapping an offender’s hand rather than truly assigning the punishment that fits the crime anymore…
Ok, fine, improve our legal system. I’m not sure exactly you’re trying to get at. The matter of truth here is that abortion is evil. What we do about it is a matter of prudential judgment. Catholics are free to propose many different legal schemes for dealing with abortion.

Well when a woman, say like susan smith, kills her children because she feels that she has the right to get rid of them, how do we treat the situation?

There is very much the same decisions that many woman make when they decide they want to abort their child. Why do we as society react differently with these two same situations?

True.

God made us from the time of conception.
Thou shall not kill.

What if Jesus did not die for our sins ? He* could *have said: "this is my body, and I choose not to suffer and die for YOU. You are not as important as I am."

I think, we as society choose to ignore certain things we do not want to appear “politically incorrect or justifiable”. Another way society has brought us down, no?

Sadly I totally agree.😦

I know what our sciences tell us about conception. I agree, it can never be justified but how do we accurately define a justifiable punishment?
Homocide or specifically infanticide is a crime. Let the penalties of the crime outside the womb be the same inside the womb?

Indeed. But do we as a society step up for our beliefs or let society shape us?
