It is clear that he was referring to Psalm 118:22. Or are you trying to say that every rock is the same rock? I think my verse is a closer fit.

This really wasn’t meant to be a “proof” was it?
Every rock the same no. The rock that is the Foundation of the church Yes. It’s in plain english He spells it out for you in plain english, just read it. He tells you exactly what foundation the church is built on, and it surely isn’t peter.

Listen up here’s your answer

Hear the word Romans 10:17
Believe the word (any of the hundred or scritures listed earlier)
repent of your sins (luke 13:3)
Confess jesus as the son of God (matt 10:32)
Baptism Mark 16:16

😃 😃 😃 😃 😃

is that what you want to know?

Now I have a question for you?

were any babies baptized in the bible, Were there priest in the new testament church, did christians pray to saints, Is anyone called Pope, Any Nuns?,how about forbidding to marry, Lint, confession to priest, calling a man Holy Father, Any Cardinals?
Sure there were babies baptized in the Bible. Households had babies. Acts 16:15

St. Paul recommended not to marry if possible 1 Cor 7:7

Lent is just fasting and prayer, also referenced in 1 Cor 7:5

When’s the last biblical “Trinity” or “Altar Call” you’ve read?

You may say “surely” but it wasn’t proven by your verses. That’s all!

He takes a guy named Simon, calls him “Rock” and says in the same breath that upon THIS Rock, I will build my church.

I read it! It still says Peter is the Rock.

I am not sure what your “What???” is referring to. Lots of people left after that verse. Jesus pointed out exactly what you have to do. He didn’t say believe then, he didn’t say live with him. He said eat my flesh and drink my blood because my flesh is food and my blood is drink.

Lots of people left and he didn’t say EVEN TO HIS APOSTLES “I was being metaphorical” or even explain it like he did plenty of times elsewhere.

So I am wondering where you personally eat his flesh and drink his blood. Clearly from the “plain text” it’s required to be saved.

Of course not – i*f it is taken in the context of everything else *Jesus said about how we’re saved.
That’s quite a task:)

I think this site does a good job. There is everything Jesus said taken in the context of everything else he said. Even Paul’s letters are quoted (quite a lot).

LOL

that’s off topic anyway, but Paul binded and loosed, so did james and john. just think about it. None of the apostles passed “the ability to be an apostle” to anybody, but again … that’s off topic.

I hope you have a better understanding of biblical salvation. Good luck in your study.

**What does Jesus **say we must do to be saved?

Still waiting…
5Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born(J) of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. ESV

As was stated earlier the Scriptures don’t contradict!

**
JESUS**
Jhn 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Jhn 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Jhn 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Jhn 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Jhn 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Jhn 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
Jhn 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Jhn 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
Jhn 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
Jhn 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Luke

Act 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Paul
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Rom 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Rom 10:4 For Christ [is] the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Peter
1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
John
1Jo 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
Matthew?

So…“gnawing my flesh” == believing? Not seeing it.
Why, the whole chapter is about believing, and how one comes to believe; haven’t you read it?

Eating His flesh and drinking His blood are analogous with believing read the chapter; compare the plain language of v40, with the figurative parallel of v54.

He shouldn’t have to say it was “metaphorical;” to believe that He meant to literally eat His flesh, and drink His blood is irrational—think about it.

Prior to their leaving, Jesus tells those who leave why it is they couldn’t come to Him, and believe in Him.

By believing—read the text—it’s all about believing, and how one comes to believe in Christ.

Were there any hair-helmeted televangelists?

Any altar calls?

Any phone pledges?

Wow, this could go on for awhile.

Try deploying some arguments which don’t apply doubly to “Bible-believing” Christians.

Chuckle. I just explained it.
Eating His flesh and drinking His blood are analogous with believing read the chapter; compare the plain language of v40, with the figurative parallel of v54.
In the idiom of the day, eating flesh and drinking blood are repugnant. He either was trying to scare people away or meant what he said. It’s non-sensical to force the sense of the words to mean believing from the context.
He shouldn’t have to say it was “metaphorical;” to believe that He meant to literally eat His flesh, and drink His blood is irrational—think about it.
He provided a way. Covenant sacrifices need to be eaten. Read your OT.
Prior to their leaving, Jesus tells those who leave why it is they couldn’t come to Him, and believe in Him.
Hold it. They clearly understood the passage to be literal. If they thought it was metaphorical, they would not have been upset. They would have thought “Oh, he meant believe in him, same thing that he’s been saying all along, got it.”

They didn’t. They said “Eat his flesh! No way, I’m outta here.” It’s funny how the people who heard him (many of them) understood him worse than you do, and you weren’t even there!
By believing—read the text—it’s all about believing, and how one comes to believe in Christ.
He mentioned that they didn’t believe, but he’s explaining why they left at that point. They couldn’t believe that he meant what he was saying.

Let’s face it, if he DIDN’T mean what he said, he was talking crazy.
