Harris has the misfortune of being the boogeyman of the day for the right. Next week it’ll be someone else.

I’ll put twenty bucks that they’ve got at least an ounce in the building.

I hope everyone here will be just as offended if a conservative legislator asks similar questions of a Muslim appointee.
Or if a liberal legislator asks such similar questions.

Anyway, it’s been shown in some cases, that Senators have voted on Supreme Court nominees per their credentials and not political views. This is what Lindsey Graham said about Kagan or Sotomayor, I forget which but the one was voted in with overwhelming votes on their experience and qualifications, not on their political views.

Should we not be voting for people per their qualifications? Their experience?

Yes. But, political views are often based on different interpretations of hot topic constitutional issues that tend to divide the country.

I believe most of our laws are based on English Common Law…especially at the state level.

To be honest, I live in fear of Kamala Harris becoming the next POTUS.

Good point…I said “English Common Law” because I’ve always lived on the East coast but you are correct that some places in the US the laws were based on the were the founders of the area originated from.

Kamala Harris has some nerve running down a member of the Knights of Columbus. Look who is calling the kettle black. She moved up in politics by having an affair with Willie Brown, former mayor of San Francisco. Enough said!

Looks touched up to me. If one wanted to see lots of gold, one could not do better than the Cathedral BAsilica of St. Louis (Mo) There are acres of murals, with the tiniest chips one can imagine, many of which are gold and some of which are semiprecious stones. Just breataking!
I live in STL and Ridgerunner is correct, our Basilica is stunningly beautiful

It is quite beautiful. We are spoiled in the STL with so many great churches. We have a group of friends that “church and chow” once a month. We pick a church to attend 5 o’clock Mass at and then go out for dinner. We are lucky to have so many options. I still think my favorite is the simplicity of the Old Cathedral.

What do you think of St. Francis de Sales Church (other than being in an iffy location)?

Ah, but when one reads the history of English common law, definitely the Catholic Church is not without influence.

Perhaps she needs to be reminded those American values she speaks of were founded on the Catholic Natural Law.

I wish California could and would secede. Those in the rural northeastern counties would immediately form a new state, analagous to West Virginia. It would exclude Sacramento County as well. And there would be nothing the new nation of California could do about it.

Because it’s so much more mature, ethical and Christian for you to accuse her of sleeping her way towards her present position.

Yeap. And English Common Law is a had it’s start in Catholic thought.

Remember, the Catholic Archbishop of Canterbury help write the Magna Carta. Until the 19th Centry the Church of England was outwardly very similar to the Catholic Church. And the great schools of Catholic thought of Cambridge, Oxford, etc changed very little after the English Reformation in terms of philosophy.

Remember, the Puritants wanted to leave England because they felt it was too Catholic. 🙂
