I just sent an email to the USCCB to express my concerns also.
Please, I encourage everyone who posted on this topic to do the same.

- Did the Left Cede Heaven? The Intersection
of Faith and Politics
Speaker: Sammie Moshenberg, Director of
Washington Operations, National Council of
Jewish Women; Kathy Saile, Associate Director
of Public Policy, Lutheran Services
The talk appears to be about people of faith:
Although she may be a progressive that doesn’t automatically make her pro-choice, any more than being a conservative makes one prolife (just look at the current crop of self proclaimed conservative Republican nominees). The Democratic party does have a number of Pro-lifers as well, so it’s not a cut and dry issue.…the Left continues to be a party of people of faith. This dinner will highlight the way liberal people of faith organize to further progressive causes.
She should not even be putting herself in the situation where she can be ‘guilty by association’. And it’s more than that. By freely associating herself with this group she is guilty - guilty of supporting a group that clearly undermines Catholic teaching on abortion and that makes her a supporter of abortion regardless if she calls herself pro-life or pro-choice. Words mean nothing at that point.I don’t see where it’s even remotely been “established” that Kathy Saile is a pro-choicer. I’ve read through several links and Catholic blogs and all I’ve found so far is a ‘guilt by association’ circumstantial fallacy from a 2006 WIN Dinner Party where she’s listed as one of the speakers: …

I’d like to see something more concrete before I join the bandwagon. Until then I’m going to give her and the Bishop’s selection of her the benefit of the doubt.
At the end of the letter:*How does one cc. Rome?
WASHINGTON (CNS) – Kathy Saile, who begins work in mid-October as director of domestic policy for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said the thing that “sold me on the position” was the USCCB’s commitment to integrate more closely the work of the pro-life, social policy and Catholic Campaign for Human Development offices.
Saile, 42, said her work in Washington has brought her into contact with an “interesting, diverse coalition” whose members did not always agree on every issue. One of those contacts was Women’s Information Network, or WIN, a group that promotes the involvement in politics of Democratic women who believe a woman has a right to choose abortion.
“It’s not always easy being a pro-life woman in D.C.,” she said. “But one of the things I challenged them on was the Democrats’ litmus test on abortion. … I think the Democrats are hurting themselves by having this litmus test for candidates.”
One Catholic media outlet reported after Saile’s appointment was announced that she “was a 2006 dinner-party speaker” for WIN, “a group dedicated to empowering pro-choice women.”
The dinner in question, she told Catholic News Service Sept. 18, involved about seven women at a private home for a discussion of faith and politics.
catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/0705315.htm“The issue of abortion was raised,” Saile said, “and I challenged people that it was not mutually exclusive to be socially progressive on issues like health care, poverty and housing and to be pro-life.”

Sorry Kathy…“The issue of abortion was raised,” Saile said, “and I challenged people that it was not mutually exclusive to be socially progressive on issues like health care, poverty and housing and to be pro-life.”
Yes and just ask the voters in PA that voted for “pro-life” Casey. Actions speak loudly in the case of some so called PRO-LIFE leaders.USCCB Pro-Life Secretariat Kimberly Baker sent me an email today giving notice that Kathy Saile is not, in fact, pro-choice but pro-life. Kathy gave an interview to CNS indicating her position:

Maybe the USCCB isn’t so bad after all?
As I said actions speak louder then words. No apology from me.Sorry Kathy…![]()
