Then how on earth can you claim to have an informed opinion on whether Dr. Ford’s accusation is credible?
Knowing the facts about Ford’s testimony, that she doesn’t know when or where it was, and everyone who she has identified as being there has denied it, and that there is no physical evidence to suggest its true, I’d say it meets the very definition of “un-credible”. If you listened to our President’s remarks in Johnson City last night, he was really on target, and Mr. Trump listened to Ford with an open mind.

I agree about the lack of credibility of Dr. Ford’s testimony. But Pres. Trump’s listening to such testimony with an open mind is surely a stretch for several reasons.

It seems he cannot make up his mind about what he saw. He called Ford a “credible witness” a few days ago, and last night was mocking her and making fun of her like he was a six-year-old.

The President listened to the testimony of the witnesses, he digested it, and came up with a reasoned conclusion he gave the people last night. You can disagree with his conclusion, but he didn’t make fun of her, just critiqued the testimony.

So many reasons, most of which have been discussed in prior posts. It may be, however, that Ford BELIEVES Kavanaugh is the man who abused her rather than lying, or even that, after all is said and done, Kavanaugh is the man despite her weak evidence, as well as what we know about the vagaries of memory recall. We may never know what really happened, just as we still cannot say for sure whether or not Justice Thomas is guilty based on Anita Hill’s (much stronger) testimony.

Yes, he certainly did last night. With the waving arms and everything. He didn’t try to hide that he was making fun last night. Republican senators called him on it today.

I see red flags in Ford’s story. I don’t find her 100% credible. That doesn’t bother me, though. It’s the lying and disrespect I object to.

One of the reasons why stories keep changing is that memory recall keeps changing. I would be even more suspicious if a story remained exactly the same in all its details. We tend to inadvertently forget and distort the details as more time passes. Therefore, what can we know for sure after more than 35 years?!

I think that a lot of Republicans are channeling Donald Trump.
Lol. I keep finding this assumptions that I’m Republican hilarious! I know Republicans who see what i write about libertarianism and lots of Republican ideas hate me, but whatever. I am defending a guy I feel is being treated with unfair standards as if he’s not a normal person. I am passionate because of the lack of empathy I perceive in people who are sure Judge Kavanaugh is guilty and keep shifting the goal posts on him.

Yes, that’s true. I agree with that. Thank you.

I’m not positive he’s guilty of attacking Ford, but I feel positive he lied under oath, which to me is worse than getting drunk in school.

It hasn’t even cost him his job. He’s still a federal judge…

Garland wasn’t rejected, he never even had a hearing. By the logic that denied him a hearing, it being an election year, Kavanaugh shouldn’t even have had a hearing in the first place until next year. But the hypocrisy of the current majority party is well documented.

The Biden Rule is only about nominations during Presidential election years. Every year is an election year of course.

In any event, the voters gave the Republicans control of the body, and it just up to the leadership what business is going to be transacted. That’s they way its always been.

I am sure that if the Democrats take the Senate next month, that’s the last you would see of any Trump nominations for as long as that situation continues

You’re defending one of the most grotesque and boorish men to ever be appointed as a member of the Supreme Court. If Hillary Clinton had broken down under the same process, you would have dismissed her as a hysterical idiot.

You’re supplying justifications and excuses for bullies and frauds, one of whom is openly mocking a possible victim of sexual abuse.

Please stop. Just stop.

How do you know what I would’ve done regarding Hilary Clinton? Stop projecting, please. I will not join a lynch mob. These assumptions about people is why you think you know what Kavanaugh did when you obviously do not.

And if he’s not confirmed, he’ll keep that job.
Theoretically, you’re right. But the Democrats have announced they are going after him with all barrels including impeachment if they win a House majority next year. And if the Senate rules against him, people will see him as a sexual predator and an alcoholic which will reduce him significantly.

But even more important, is how a defeat of Kavanaugh this week will make it a lot more difficult to get qualified and good people to agree to an appointment. President Trump may have an approved list of qualified appointees, but how many will tell him “Thanks but no thanks, Mr. President. It is an honor to be considered, sir, but my family just can’t take this kind of abuse.”
