Could we please have a return to Christian charity on this thread?
It would be nice, but there are those on this forum so little educated in the topic that all they can do is offer insults. Others just like to fight.

I thought charity got checked at the door in political threads. They are actually kind of ridiculous. Nobody is talking with anyone else. They ate talking at each other. Nobody’s mind is being changed.

It is silly because no one’s mind will be changed. If Kavanaugh himself said he lied, there are those who would not believe it.

They’ll just get worse and worse until the moderators close the thread, and good riddance to it. It’s gotten way out of hand.

My reasons for disliking Kavanaugh are completely unreasonable. My reasons for disliking Trump may be as well. They are not political reasons, and try as I might, I cannot see any good in the man at all. I know that’s irrational, but I still can’t muster any feeling toward him but utter disgust.

It’s not irrational at all. Trump is a child of God, so I wish him no harm, but I, too, see no good in him. He needs prayers, lots of them, but not mine. I would be insincere. He’s probably a very, very unhappy man to act the way he does. Look how he villainized John McCain, a wat hero and a very decent man. That was evil.

Oh I pray for him. I really do, but having grown up with a father who was a chronic womanizer and egotist, I see him in a different light I guess. With that, I’m bowing out of this thread.

No problem. It’s all under control. We will, like Judge Thomas, do as follows…

We will all sit in our chairs and speak in low, controlled voices. We will not stand or yell. If we feel angry, we will hold it in. We will project the image of a dignified man or woman.

See how easy that is?

No need to sweat the small stuff, we can take it as well as dish it, with dignity and aplomb.

And I won’t patronize or condescend by posting the definition of that last word. 😉

You said you knew for a fact. That’s clearly untrue. Your strong opinions, even if you had very good arguments, are not facts.

People have investigated and written FACTS about Kavanaugh. I CAN tell FACTS from OPINION.

Please do not post to me any longer. I have no interest in anything you have to say. Thank you.

You can keep from replying if you want. Trusting other people’s opinions is even worse when claiming to know something for a FACT. Clearly we need to define facts here.

Maybe, however, it would be preferable to have more of a centrist than another right-wing ideologue for a more balanced court
That is one advantage to having Congress and the presidency controlled by different parties. No one extreme can be confirmed (consent). Some degree of “advice” is needed, the Constitutional way. Neither Obama or Trump have shown much skill in dealing with others that think differently though.

Misconstruing fact for opinion and proof for evidence is rampant in our social media society. It is kind of amusing to note how few actually get this. Too many people just listen to their favorite bloggers and parrot what they hear.

Well, if a very, very happy man will put the country into huge debt, throw away American jobs and resources to other countries and multinationals, raise taxes, open borders to anyone and everyone, grow the government to the point of non-sustainability, let the globalist elites dictate the political and social agenda, promote abortion on demand and euthanasia, and tolerate the far-left notions of what it means to be human, then he is probably in more need of our prayers than a very, very unhappy Trump.

Yeah. Not. Irrational. At. All.

Really?

Isn’t this a sign of progress…

Nobody’s mind is being changed.
Actually, I have no interest in changing anybody’s mind. I treat this as a soliloquy with the point being to clarify different points of view in my own head.

I was working under the supposition of being in the Matrix of my own thoughts.

If anyone else is listening or reading, that would, perhaps, be a bonus of a sort, but actually changing minds? Nah. Not a priority.

Winning an imagined debate? Not a priority.

Clarifying ideas by hashing them out. Yeah. More like that.
Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division! ~Jesus
(Luke 12:49-53)
Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. ~Jesus
(Matt 10:34)
Why would you suppose Jesus didn’t come to bring peace if it could be so easily established by compromise?

Too many people just listen to their favorite bloggers and parrot what they hear.
How do you know they are “parroting” as opposed to finding the best words to articulate their own thinking?

Redefine the goal and… SCORE!

You are also contributing to the problem.
What problem? I see no problem. This is actually a very polite thread for a political one.

I just stopped reading two posters, so they are wasting their time if they post to me.
