Key Coronavirus Model Now Predicts Many Fewer U.S. Deaths

All you have to do is look at reactions from individuals to Bojo being in the hospital and start there. I also share the sense that the media in their ivory towers is salivating at this being the thing that finally sinks Trump. Isn’t it sad that they have allowed themselves to be perceived that way given their past actions?

As pointed on the thread where his condition is the topic, that seems to be pretty much no one.

What we have found is the that the mitigation measures appear to have worked, just as they did in other countries that applied them. Shame it took so long to get on board in much of the US.

By all means. Ignore the Senators and ignore me on this.

I am good with that.

But I will keep pointing it out too (others when they see it, will recognize it, and draw correct conclusions on their own).

I have no idea who to ignore since you refused to identify who it is. But, if it makes you feel superior to have the knowledge but not share it with me, I can live with it. All I did was ask.

That’s OK. You don’t have to have an idea if you are going to ignore it anyway.

Like I said. I’m fine with that.

For anyone else that MAY be interested there is a whole thread on it . . . .

Ted Cruz rips Washington Post fact-checker for being 'gleeful' about unemployment in jab against Trump World News
You will see this unemployment glee, and you will also see such things as these guys expressing anger(!) when American people get better with hydroxychloroquine/azithromycin. Several days earlier, some of these guys were expressing anger that America was not going to be sending abroad as many N95 masks as 3M and some distibutors had intended (and even then some are still leaving the US). You will see very little in complaints from these guys directed against India though for deciding to KEE…

Oh no you don’t! I said I was going to ignore it if you wouldn’t identify it! Not the other way around.
I am now putting you on ignore…so, take it as a win if you wish. To refuse to answer my question then blame me is the height of pomposity. Have a safe day.

PattyIt. For someone ignoring what I say on this, you sure have a lot to say.

Thanks for your well-wishing upon me.

The issue is that you demand people answer your questions but don’t play by the same rules yourself. It’s intellectually dishonest.
Bold mine.

But they don’t HAVE TO answer any questions from me.

I am perfectly fine with people ignoring me.

It is far too surreal to hold any kind of conversation or debate under such conditions.
That’s just what I was thinking. Only not about my phantom-questions of “demand” that you put into my mouth.

I hope that people realize that the mitigation are what is making the difference in caseload and deaths, that this “low” death numbers reflect long and rigorous mitigation efforts, and that when the wave is over, we may have to do it all over again if the 97% is later exposed to some lingering infection,
This is something I am very concerned about. I’m afraid we’ll be doing this over and over until someone develops an effective, available, and affordable vaccine.

Yes. That 97% figure looms large to people who are engaged in bringing work back to normal.

That 97% figure is a complete shot in the dark regarding how many have actually been infected. There is no way of knowing without widespread serology testing what the real numbers are, and that testing has not been done to any significant degree.

Even those testing negative for COVID-19 could have already gone through it, developed antibodies and wouldn’t be identified as having had it.

Until serology testing is done on at least representative samples it isn’t accurate to claim we know with any degree of certainty that 97% of the population are still susceptible to exposure.

Yes. Good point. We need to have people know for themselves (I do NOT want a Government antibody registry if me though).

And the best way to isolate the active virus is going to with widespread testing.

Having only your doctor order one, won’t cut it (it hasn’t with influenzas a and b) anyway.

EVERYONE who wants a Corona Virus test should be able to test at home.
Just like home pregnancy tests, viral panel tests SHOULD be available OTC (over the counter).

Just order a dozen virus test panels from Amazon (the panel can test for the Wuhan Cronona Virus, RSV, and Influenzas). If the home-tests are positive on ANY of the viruses, take them into your physician for verification with a more accurate test and possible treatment and self-isolation recomendations.

Keep the other 11 remaining tests in your medicine-cabinet for the next time you get a “bug” so you can self-test again.

There will be false positives and negatives. We can do public awareness campaigns on symtomatic individuals who are testing negative (get in to your doctor!).

If we want to REALLY isolate the virus and are serious about it, we can do this, while the rest of the country gets back to work.

Ah, you copied and pasted that same message to/from another thread.

AG Barr ‘very concerned’ about ‘personal liberty’ after Gates proposes digital vaccine certificates World News
Government has not been able to “deliver us” from Influenza A and B. Government will not be able to deliver us from Corona Virus infections either. If we are REALLY SERIOUS about isolating the disease, ask the public to do it THEMSELVES! (Correct. It won’t be perfect.) And the best way to isolate the active virus is going to with widespread testing. Having only your doctor order one, won’t cut it (it hasn’t with influenzas a and b) anyway. Why are you amplifying that specific message?

It is part of the model that is being used to forecast peaks, declines, waves, an public policy.
As you can read at the IHME, it is informed by data obtained in other countries ahead of us in the onset of disease. More data will improve the model, but it is hardly a shot in the dark.

Wasn’t the 200,000 dead WITH social distancing?

Top U.S. infectious diseases expert Anthony Fauci said the country will have “millions” of coronavirus cases and that as many as 200,000 people could die as a result during a Sunday CNN appearance that comes one day before the federal government’s first social distancing guidelines are set to expire.

He said this with social distancing guidelines, in fact, he said this when the guidelines were set to expire. Meaning the country had already been doing it for a while.

Today Korea announced that people are being reinfected who have already had the virus so its far from over.

New York, California and Washington were the first states infected.

New York seems to have been very slow at getting on board.

In Arizona, we have been self isolating for a month or more already. Our deaths
as of today are below 100. I had seen a projection that 1600 deaths could occur
here. I believe it will be well below that.

Most of the U.S got on board - some did not.
