Correctly identifying his role in government and society is not defending him.

One could argue (correctly, in my view) that for reasons of diplomacy and international law, it would have been wrong for the US to assassinate Hitler, or Stalin, or Mao when we were not at war. That doesn’t clear these leaders of responsibility for the deaths of many millions.
 
They don’t call him “Don” for nothing!

Anyone remember how Obama would make global broadcasts before any military moves days before anything happened?
That was so irritating.
I appreciate Trump’s secrecy and surprise.

No, if we were talking about an assassination attempt on Adolph Hitler, I would not argue against assassination by calling him a world leader. If one wants to think that is proper, fine. I don’t. We disagree.

And we are in a war against terror and will be for some time.

I’d like to think not but the timing is suspicious, especially to Democrats or those who are in general anti-Trump. Of course, if it is a political ploy on the Administration’s part, it is very high-stakes and might backfire, depending on what ensues on the part of Iran’s retaliation and the United States’ counter-retaliation. There is no doubt, however, that, whether legitimate or tinged with political intent, Trump’s actions have gotten us into something big and dangerous, even if necessary. I tend to think people like Obama, Biden, McCain and HRC would have done the same thing: they, like Trump, are all strong, militarily speaking, and furthermore foolhardy. But I just recently remarked that of all of these, it is Trump who is not the warmonger. I hope I was right, and some way can be found by the Administration to lessen the fallout without full-scale conflict. One thing is for sure: despite legitimate opposing views on Trump’s action, this is the time for our leaders to come together, not fall back on partisanship bickering as they have grown accustomed to doing.

I think if one goes to a forum and makes what seem to be routinely insensitive remarks as we saw about the persecution of religious peoples the other day, these things need to be taken note of.

Why? The United States bombs other countries with impunity, kills civilians in their hundreds, and indirectly and directly supports militant and extremist groups. The USA is directly responsible for the political instability in both Iraq and Libya, and now they’re trying to do the same thing to Iran.

I would just like to know why this action should be applauded, and what makes the USA any less of a “rogue state” than Iran. They both do practically all of the same things!

i’m not trying to criticize Americans themselves - you’re not your state, and you don’t have to align yourself with the USA just because you happen to have been born in a certain region. If anything, you’re the people with the actual power to stop the war mongering of the United States.
