Oh, man! Bunny-huggers unite! You people have really started a separate religion!

The animals are created in God’s image!!!

Please!

By eating meat, even if you are not killing the animal yourself, you are creating the demand for the highly unnecessary torture, mutilation and slaughter of an animal.
This requires that you buy into the PETA logic of claiming that is common treatment in the processing industry while ignoring that it makes no sense for a meat processor to intentionally mutiliate the livestock or even to allow accidental injuries to mount since damaged goods make them less money. (Especially interesting regarding hte abuse claims is that the tapes of abuse often appears to be prompted or even staged by the PETA members doing the filming in thier quest to get “proof” of what they’ve been claiming but can’t seem to document unless they initiate the treatment they are alleging is standard practice.)
Buying the flesh of an animal, wrapped in cellophane because you think it tastes good is no different than killing an animal just for the “fun” of it.
By your logic as presented here, eating cornbread because it tastes good is no differnet than pouring cornmeal on the ground and playing in it? Or eating eggs is no different from throwing them raw just to watch the innards run? That just doesn’t fly: waste is waste, be it plant, animal, or human. If you can’t tell the difference between using a part of the land’s bounty for sustenance rather than simply wasting it then you have much bigger issues to work through before worrying about what other people are including in thier diets.

Exodus 22:32-33
“Why did you beat your donkey those three times?” the angel of the Lord demanded. “Look, I have come to block your way because you are stubbornly resisting me. Three times the donkey saw me and shied away; otherwise, I would certainly have killed you by now and spared the donkey”

God rebuked Balaam for beating his donkey, when that donkey was trying to save his life.

Just an example from the bible.🙂

Are you sure that this the write location for this verse. I can’t find it.

Sorry it is numbers:eek:
Thank you. I found it on my own and read it to my daughters. What a great story! It seems that the donkey was protecting her master because the angel wouldn’t have harmed her anyway. 🙂

If my dog started to talk to me, I would be running the other way.😛

Lets just put this into perspective…

picture this: God places an animal on Earth next to a human

the human looks over at the animal, minding its own business, walks over…and kicks it.

God looks down and what does he see while the animal is suffering and the man is there laughing about it.

killing for food is one thing…even St. Francis can agree to meat.

Anyway i basically restated what a bunch of others did.

God bless

We rescue animals. At this moment in time we have the following:

3 dogs: one burned in its ears and stomach, one that acted like a puppy and was beaten, one that was abandoned when the owners moved

1 cat: feral she would just as soon spit and scratch as be petted, don’t know her history she was dumped

2 lizards: own was attacked by an older lizard and had its skull crushed, the other was an abandoned hatchling that I caught ants to feed

6 toads: missing legs or feet or eyes their cage is in my granddaughters room

17 exotic birds: blind, missing toes, missing feet, featherless, blind, deaf or just plain mean, they each have a history or story and each are loved by us.

Now we eat meat, eggs, mild and other dairy products and yes we have even been known to pick our own live turkey for slaughter.

IMHO God gave us the animals on earth to care for and protect so that we (mankind) could feed ourselves and to teach compassion to other generations in the life and deaths of each animal.

Right at this moment a big white umbrella cockatoo (featherless in many places) is telling me she is perfect. She loves to dance to the Star Spangled Banner and eats computer mice on a regular basis.

What I am saying is each animal on this earth has a purpose. Those that abuse the creations of God will have to answer to God for their miss-treatment.

On the matter of spaying any pregnant animal, I feel it is wrong. I feel any life that has started has the right to be born be it human or the lower animal species. The mother could be spayed after the babies are born.

I feel really bad right now. You see, we had a pet chick and sometimes, we don’t really notice it following us around the house. Sometimes, it would even follow us going outside, so we have to make sure he doesn’t escape out where there are cats.

Now, just around an hour ago, I went outside the house for a few minutes. When I went back into the house and opened the screen door, I discovered that our pet chick had been squished when I let the door close behind me. I found it there on the corner of the door, lifeless.

I feel really awful and guilty. It’s not that I’m saying it’s not my fault, but did I sin in any way in this situation?

I am just speaking as a regular, ordinary person…but in my humble opinion, you did not sin. It was an unfortunate accident and you never meant for any harm to come to the animal.

I squished a spider this morning for no reason other than it was crawling across the counter. At best it helps to rid my house of bugs. At worst it could maybe possibly a slight venial sin.

If you kill an animal while hunting, then no I doubt God is going to punish you because they hunting in the Bible. If you torture and cruelly kill an animal, such as a dog, cat, cow, etc than yes I think God would find that disgusting.

Killing bugs though is probably ok because they are pests and aren’t on the same level as cats and dogs.

This is all just my opinion of course, and I could be totally wrong.

I personally feel that animals are people. Would you like to be squashed my chair a leg. If someone squashed a human with a chair leg wouldn’t be a huge deal about it later? Animals feel just like we do and aspire to God just like we do.

I am a vegeteration/animal right activist so my opinions here a little strong. Sorry if that bothers you.

It depends on whose ox is getting gored.:bigyikes: :bigyikes: :bigyikes: :bigyikes: :bigyikes: :bigyikes: :bigyikes: :bigyikes:

Not calling any Vegans out in this thread, but I don’t know how many pro-choice people I’ve met who are against eating animals due to cruelty. The ultimate irony in my book!

abortion is besides the point and I have a whole list of arguments for you but I will refrain.

Doesn’t bother me in the least, I just completely disagree with you, that’s all. I hunt and butcher domestic animals for food. You don’t have to, just don’t tell me not to.

Don’t know how you can argue with the twisted logic that is being OK with abortion and crying foul at an animals death.
