You have an issue with St. Francis???
Other then the belief that the quote is being misapplied, no.

Please show me something to indicate St Francis believed animals and humans were on par with one another. That we were both the same in the eyes of God.

And when you cannot, please cease mis-using quotes from St. Francis to further the cause of animals being given rights on par with humans.

I agree that hunting is not necessary simply because we don’t need meat to survive, we don’t need to thin the herds (other than not wanting our flowers eaten) and to reduce Lyme disease (which I had).
What state are you living in?

The reality is that deer are a significant hazard to cars on the road in many places. Their herds are just too big.

This is a good post! I would have to say that steel leg hold traps are completely, and totally inhumane. I would hope for them to be completely outlawed and I would hope that no Catholic would ever consider using one.
I have used them a couple of times, and my dad used to do a lot of trapping when he was a kid. I am not a trapper, but a lot of people make a living that way.

As I said before, deer are the 3rd most commonly struck object in my state.

Well, your statement was “always wrong”
And that means forever. For all time.
You should be prepared to explain why God took action that was wrong.

Then you also need to explain why God ordered Peter to kill and eat. (Acts 10:13)
When killing animals is “always wrong”
Perhaps you missed the times tht passage was referred to on this and the thread on Ehics of Fur and how more than one person has said tat passage is not supposed to be taken literally. Please ead the notes/commentary on that passage.

Maybe you missed the part in Genesis where we were given animals for food. (Genesis 9:3).

He referred to a particular passage and I responded on that. This thread is not about eating or not eating meat. I will respondon that onsuch a thread.

I’m in NJ and lived in the Poconos ¶. When hunting season starts they run out in the roads. I’ve seen hunters near roadways (one was chasing a deer along the guardrail).
Many are left maimed with arrows and bullets.

Hunters are not allowed close to roads. How would you know about hunters “chasing deer into roads” -you don’t hunt?

Just because one person does it doesn’t mean we all do it.

Do you mean they are not killed outright and left wounded? hat er the hunters doing near the roadways? Isn’t that dangerous even for people passing by?

Not really. The animals are killed ASAP.
In a steel leghold trap??? No they ARE NOT!!! They suffer terribly and some even gnaw off their own legs to free themselves. They suffer for hours, in pain, until the trapper comes and finishes them off.

I think steel leghold traps are not only inhumane, they are a coward’s way of hunting, and no argument of *fair play *can be invoked–the animal has no opportunity to outrun or outwit it’s captor/killer/hunter.
