He can pray for the person, the archbishop said, but asking your priest to be present and condone a grave sin that is in direct contradiction to our Catholic values is not fair to the pastor. The rite contains the forgiveness of sin as part of the rite, he said too. We cannot forgive preemptively when we ask for suicide when it is a grave sin. If the priest goes to such a person he should try to talk him out of it, like a person rushing to talk a person from jumping off a bridge, the archbishop said too.
