How rude it would be for those people to claim something Father Z has never claimed, don’t you think?

Maybe you could have convinced the ICEL to translate the Greek instead of the Latin then. They had a heck of a time with consubstantialem Patri.

You’ll have to show in the article where he says that, though Latin is the official language of the Church and we do call the Church, “Holy Mother Church”.
If you had followed the conversation you would see I wasn’t referencing Fr. Z at all. I don’t know anything about Fr. Z aside from this one article. I don’t read his blog. The priest I was speaking of is actually my current pastor

I think God does, but some might say Father Z does.
God divinely revealed to the Church His language (of love). Father Z is one of many good priests doing his best to teach us the faith. He is only one of a multitude of priests trying to restore and heal the Church.

Very sorry, my bad. I thought you were talking about Father Z. 😨
God revealed His language? Where and when was that?
So, my post there was in a discussion regarding the language of “love”. My comment was answering and in reference to God revealing to us through Divine Revelation what love is, what is right and wrong, what the commandments are and…

He revealed all this to us through Scripture and Tradition.

Thanks for the explanation. I know this posts all start running together and it’s easy to mix things up.

Yeah, his homilies are always something to look forward to. I thank God that I’m able to attend his parish.

Don’t forget you are on Catholic Answers " traditional Catholicism" subform which is anything but that.

Anyhow, my favorite text on the matter is Veterum Sapientia.

I’m sure Father can take it. The animosity directed towards him in this forum is probably nothing compared to what he gets from the liberals in his inbox everyday lol.

Anyway imo the most important line in his article is this one…
Change how we pray and we change what we believe, and, hence, how we live.
I think we have seen evidence of this with the ‘spirit’ of Vatican II.

Justin Martyr was born in 100 A.D. Is it possible that the prayers were said quietly to avoid attracting the attention of the authorities who were arresting Christians and sending them to their deaths in the stadium? (Justin Martyr was beheaded.)

I suppose chant can be whispered, but it seems unlikely.

Also, I don’t have a good bio of Justin Martyr, but I think ?? he wrote all his works in Greek. Was the Mass being said in Latin at that time? I suppose it might have been, since Latin was the “vulgar” language of the people, and Greek was the language of scholars.

It’s interesting to me that Father Z does not push the learning of Greek, which would be useful in studying the Bible and reading a lot of the early Church leaders’ writings.

Probably because that’s not the point of the article he wrote. His article is about the use of Latin in the Latin rite.

Do your own study of Church history and you’ll learn for yourself

Currently, all you want to do is argue about your certitude in being right and others wrong.

Yeah, it’s kind of refreshing to have in a sea of priests who try more to be buddies than the father figures that they’re supposed to be. It was a little startling at first, but once you adjust and realize his sternness comes out of love for the Mass, then you warm up to him.
