Now I have some questions for you and everyone else…
What is Jesus saying at John 17:6, 26? Compare with Ex 9:16 and Ps.91:14
John 17:
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Okay, I think I know what you are driving at here. “Declared to them thy name” does not mean that He hollered to them: “Jehovah!” That is an idiomatic way of saying that He
testified to them of God His Father. If your read verses 7 and 8, it explains that:
7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
That is what it means by “I have manifested unto them thy name …”
What do you think Rev 18:4 is talking about regarding ‘his’ people?
Revelation 18:
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
This verse is spoken in connection with the destruction of “Babylon”. In fact, a similar passage is found in the book of Isaiah, in connection with the destruction of real Babylon (see Isaiah 52:11). The interesting thing about the verse in the Revelation is that at the time this book of scripture was written, real Babylon had been destroyed centuries ago. So the first thing you need to ask yourself is, What does John mean by Babylon? To cut a long story short, by Babylon is meant the sin and wickedness that exists (and has always existed) in the world. To “come out of Babylon” means to avoid being tainted by the sin and evil that exists in the world. It doesn’t mean to cut yourself off from the world, and become a recluse. It means to be part of the world, but at the same time remain untainted by the evil that exists in the world, as Jesus prayed:
John 17:
15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
That is what it means to “come out of Babylon”.
How do you explain Ezek 18:4
Ezekiel 18:
4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
I am not sure what your purpose in asking that question is; but what I understand by this is that God has sovereignty over all mankind; and that He punishes each of us for the sins that we have committed, not for the sins that our fathers or anyone else has committed.
How important do you think the work spoken at Matt 24:14 is to God?
Matthew 24:
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
I am not sure what you mean by its “importance to God”. Everything that God has said is important to Him. It is its importance to
us that is really significant here. We interpret this scripture differently from the way other Christians do. We think that it is a prophecy of the restoration of the gospel through Joseph Smith in the last days. It is similar to the prophecy of John, in which he saw
“… another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth …” (Revelation 14:6). It is a prophecy that is being fulfilled today, as the message of the Restored gospel is being preached in the world by Latter-day Saints.
Why does he want it preached before “the end comes”?
Because we believe the LDS Church is the last dispensation of the gospel; and it is the last time in which the gospel will be preached in the world before the end of the world, or the Second Coming of the Lord takes place.
What two identities do you feel Matt 24:41-51 is speaking about?
I think that means that one should at all times be ready for the Second Coming of the Savior
by living righteously. I don’t think it means that one should isolate oneself or cut oneself from the world.
Does it make sense that SOMEONE knows the “Truth” in order for it to be preached to God’s satisfaction? John 8:31; John 4:23, 24; 2 Tim 4:3-5
John 8:
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John 4:
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
2 Timothy 4:
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
I didn’t understand the mature and purpose of your question.
How does 1 Cor.1:10 show that God’s people are not spread out and being used in all kinds of religious affiliations?
1 Corinthians 1:
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
This is simply a call to unity among the Christian saints. I don’t see what conclusion you intend to draw from that.
