So, if a murderer broke into a Mormon home threatening to kill the family, a Mormon mother would say, “Kill the child, not me! My life is more valuable!’” It sounds to me like you have your values backward by calling the efforts of a mother to save the life of her child over her own as “criminal”.
Which “Catholics” don’t obey it? Faithful Catholics? I don’t think so.
People fall into sin when they ignore the laws of the Father and decide that “the time isn’t right” or “this will interfere with *my *life”. It’s called self-centeredness in place of God-centeredness.
We don’t have a “choice” to decide which of God’s rules we can follow. Thou shalt not kill. That’s a Commandment for all time.

Joseph Smith invented a religion. An angel named Moroni did not lead him to golden plates. He did not receive divine inspiration to translate them. He was a very inventive science fiction writer, not a prophet. It is blasphemy to teach that God was not always “a god” and that Mormons will one day have the possibility to become gods and rule their own planets. These are all lies and Joseph Smith was a liar.
When did the Commandment against killing become outdated?
